This place has mold, mildew, fire hazards, outdated plumbing/electric, leaking sewage, flooding problems in the basement, disgusting smells, and a whole staff of unqualified people who are trained to belittle you and make you feel dumb for reporting any problems. I left several pictures on this site and ask you let others know to watch out for these people. When we first signed the lease, we were promised all of the windows and hallways were going to be renovated within a couple of months after our move into the building. When we emailed the Michelson Organization to ask why the windows were not being changed, they confirmed they did indeed make that promise but couldn't simply work it into the budget this year. Our windows flooded out during rain storms and the Michelson organization still refused to do anything. I even uploaded a video of water flooding our apartment onto youtube just so people can see the kind of slime the Michelson organization really is. Just search "The Envoy Michelson Organization 8701 Delmar" on youtube to see the video. Also, our plumbing was out on one of the bathrooms for almost 6 months due to their carelessness. As soon as we called to complain and informed them it's been long enough, Todd the maintenance guy came up to our door and continually rang the door bell for a couple of minutes until one of us answered. He's constantly putting the tenants on the defense with his passive aggressive Michelson training and never ONCE completed a job properly. For two years we just put up with this guy and allowed him to bully us in our own home until it was time for us to leave. Todd then made it difficult for us to move out and did everything he could to let us know he was glad we were leaving. And if that weren't enough, The Michelson Organization allows smoking in the building and do nothing to regulate it. I had to breathe second hand smoke from my neighbor for two years thanks to the fact the Michelson Organization was unwilling to change the rules. There are a lot of elderly people in the building and these slum lords simply do not care. The laundry facility has a main sewer line along the washing machines and it has some serious leaks. I've come home several times to the sewer pipes bursting and there being urine and fecal matter running down the walls and onto the washing machines. I've even walked by the laundry area, smelled urine, made a comment to one of the tenants, and the next day an air freshener magically appeared in the exact area where I complained about the smell to another tenant. My guess is this had to do with the fact I was right in front of the maintenance office when I made the very loud comment to another tenant, and Todd did what he does best. Throw a Band-Aid on it then disappear for hours until it was time to go home.

When I come to visit I'm greeted by the security desk guy, who always knows my name and asks how my day has been. Normally Vickie, my friend, has called already called down and told him I'm expected and he sends the elevator to Vickie's floor. Otherwise, I just wait in the pretty lobby and listen to the soothing waterfall or watch the local St. Louis videos on repeat until Vickie comes down to get me, or we go out. There's now also a rooftop pool (in addition to the indoor one) that open earlier this summer. It's a great place to lay out and get some sun. I LOVE how clean and modern her apartment is. and the view of Downtown from her window is gorgeous!!! I think they even pay her electric, but I didn't ask.

Below, I will list every noteworthy thing I can think of: My rent was $666 for a one-bedroom: The computer came up with this figure, and the manager wanted to change it to $667 because she was freaked out. I wasn't budging on the 12 bucks though, so it stayed at $666. Maintenance/Management: I had no complaints. The A/C broke once, and maintenance checked it within two hours. They ended up replacing the unit the next morning. I had a sink problem once too that was fixed within two hours of my email to the managers. Bugs: This really doesn't deserve a mention in the review, because it really has more to do with just how big of a sissy I am when it comes to bugs. But the light next to the door was always on at night, so bugs would naturally migrate to it in the summer. I get it: a well-lit apartment complex would actually be considered a positive by most people due to safety. I, personally, would rather get mugged and raped on occasion than feel like I'm in the Temple of Doom when trying to open my apartment door. Disregard this paragraph. Location: Near the 270/Olive interchange made it easy to get to work quickly. Overall, the "grounds" of the apartment was mostly a concrete parking lot. It was fine with me. I actually liked the view of "City Place 5" office building. It reminded me of the movie Robocop for absolutely no reason. Bugs: One more thing about bugs: a bunch of wasps lived in the closet adjoining my balcony. I never told management about it, I just kept the screen closed. One time my friend opened it to try find a better angle to steal wi-fi from an ill-secured neighbor, and the apartment was infiltrated by a lone wasp. We eventually had to spray it to death with a can of carcinogenic RAID ant & roach spray (it kills wasps too). Disregard this paragraph. Neighbors: Didn't really know any of my neighbors well at all. The neighbor below me was in his early 20's and sometimes had ridiculously loud, all-out techno parties with huge amounts of bass. It really didn't bother me, so I never complained. I sort of wish he had invited me until I remembered I am way too lame to have fun at a techno party. Overall: Not a bad place to live. If you have an embarrassingly sensitive fear of bugs, I'd recommend buying a bee-keeper outfit or moving to the arctic instead. Missouri in the summer just isn't for you.
