We met with Melanie who was compassionate, caring, and explained everything thoroughly. We felt as though we were a part of her family. Dad's service was very nice, and the funeral home is spacious and beautiful. We were able to bring in donuts for the visitation, and coffee and water were provided. Even after the service, the funeral home went above and beyond. A woman posted horrible words and death wishes to my mother (who also nearly lost her life in the house fire). We contacted the funeral home who promptly removed the terrible comments. Unfortunately, the woman and her mother continue to harass this wonderful business, posting negative reviews and demanding that they post their disgusting comments on my father's memorial wall. We never imagined that we'd have to deal with such tasteless behavior, and we're mortified that Melanie and Sara have to deal with this. Overall, this is a very caring and compassionate company that genuinely cares about the family and their loved one's final wishes.

When we went in for our consultation, everyone at Adkins Funeral Home was very compassionate and helped us through a very difficult experience. Walter, the Funeral Director, guided us through the decision making process, explaining every detail of the options we had for the services. When we needed things explained several times, because it is hard to focus when you are grief stricken, he was always very patient and understanding. Walter was extremely professional. His experience and knowledge of what needed to be done every step of the way was a relief and weight off of our shoulders. Once all the arrangements had been made, we felt at ease in knowing everything would be taken care of. They spent time getting to know us and learning about our Father so they could help us in honoring his life. The Funeral Associate, Sheri, helped us write the Obituary and she took care of getting it published in the paper and on their online Obituaries page. A beautiful Memorial video was made from our pictures of our Dad, it was thoughtfully made and was very touching. They took extra care and consideration to make sure our wishes were met and that everything went smoothly. In every single instance they are professional, knowledgeable, kind, sensitive and willing to go the extra mile to guide you in preparing your loved ones for their final resting place. When my Mom passed away suddenly 3 years ago, Robert sat with my Dad and I to guide us on our decision making. He offered information and ideas and then sat back and let us discuss what we wanted to do. There was no pressure in any way and never tried to talk us into anything we didn't want. As I had never made these type of arrangements previously Robert's input was greatly appreciated. At that time I also met and worked with Dan & Caralynn Appenzeller who are knowledgeable, caring and so willing to do anything they can to create a service and environment that you want for your loved one. Everything was beautifully arranged and I knew if there was anything else I needed all I had to do was ask. They were all there for Dad and I not just in words but in actions. Fast forward to 2 1/2 months ago, without going into detail my Dad passed away. One of my first stops was Robert Crooks Funeral Center and everyone again surpassed my expectations...and they were high based upon my previous experience. I again sat with Robert to discuss making arrangements for my Dad and was pretty much following what we had planned for my Mom. While checking everything Robert determined the price had actually been reduced on a couple items and he passed that on to me. Honesty as well as compassion goes a long way with me. I spoke with Dan and Caralynn whose concern and occasional humor went a long way toward helping through. They helped by giving me a referral for Pastor Jeff, Community of Faith Church in Lewisburg and Eaton, to conduct the service. He somehow managed to capture the essence of my Dad in a one hour meeting and delivered a service that I will forever be grateful for. Dan made sure I had the paperwork for the Veteren's Association in order to make sure my Dad had the military honors at his graveside for his military service. I'm not certain I would have even thought of that without their help. I also want to thank Stefanie for the lovely slideshow that she created for Dad's service. The first one she had done on her own and it was perfect. Checking the files for Mom & Dad, Stefanie realized something had been paid for twice. They called me and immediately issued a check for the amount. Trust me I would have never know...honesty, again. Everyone and I mean everyone went above and beyond what was expected. The comfort and understanding they shared and still do when I call or email is beyond the normal level of service and professionalism. You truly feel they are speaking to you as friends. When I realized that I needed to do some pre-need planning for a relative, there was no one else I was going to turn to other that Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center. Robert gave me options and worked with me as I talked with my relative to determine what his wishes were. Again, they were phenomenal. To draw a close to this very long post (and I could say more) I want to add that they take great pride in maintaining the grounds at Preble Memory Gardens. Everything is always trimmed and looks well tended and I love the flags that are put out for certain holidays. Thank you for all you have done, and still do, for my Mom, Dad, my family and myself. You are ultimate professionals while maintaining a human touch.

My family has been part of the fabric of New Carlisle for over 100 years. Generations have used this funeral home. The service provided for my mother failed in nearly every way. Trostle's mismanagement ruined her graveside service. Nobody was scheduled to assist for the urn to be buried at the cemetery. We had to come back a week later to bury her. It's been over two years now with multiple phone calls and her death date is still not engraved on the tombstone! As I am writing this, it's Memorial Day weekend... "booked solid" weeks in advance, this place became a never imaginable "lifesaver" for me and my husband's family. My husband lost his battle against Covid on 10/2/21. Most area funeral homes, including the one his family usually uses, weren't even going to be able see us to make arrangements for close to a month or more. Imagine how HORRIBLY busy they've all become!! People were/are waiting weeks, even months to bury their loved ones. Zerkle was able to find the time to see us within the first week after our loss, and schedule his service within two weeks time. This has been an impossibly difficult time, as many like myself have sadly discovered. I am not originally from this area, and am very grateful this place was recommended to me.
