It seems like once a month, locations put together a tasting event. You get to try a meal (example: included cocktail shrimp and crab ball which I do not eat). If you get all the stamps from the booths, you can go to the Customer Service desk and pick a free Market District brand food item. Market District provides such a great experience for shoppers! They provide the full customer service experience that we used to receive from all grocery stores back in the day. The store is beautiful, and well arranged. It is easy to find an employee if you have a question. The employees are knowledgeable and friendly. The salad bar and hot foods are excellent. Soups are delicious, and the bakery items are much better than the typical grocery store bakery. There are always several full service checkout lines open. The self check registers are easy to use, and there is also a shop and scan option. I purchase many "difficult to find" items here for recipes. The variety of grocery items offered here is incredible. The produce department is beautiful, with a large selection of organic produce. The best customer service throughout the store. Being a regular st this location I get used to looking for the same employee each time I go. Tyler is an employee that works at the front of the store near self check out. He is very good with customers and is very respectful. He takes pride in his work. This store seems to work like clockwork. Fresh produce, well stocked, & very organized. The signage throughout the store makes it very easy to find everything. I don't do a lot of grocery shopping at this store (because they are definitely on the pricier side), but they are on the Flashfood platform and I utilize it to snag deals from time to time. This chain of markets has really high-quality items and some very unique finds as well. I often stop by just to choose from their selection of fresh-cut flowers. I always feel very fancy when I shop here. The produce is always beautifully displayed and they have a section dedicated to nostalgic candies from yesteryear. The service that I have received using Flashfood has been excellent. This is an outstanding supermarket. We enjoyed the lunch special in the hot food area. My wife and I had fried chicken. I had green beans for the side and they were seasoned so well and not salty. My wife said her order of Mac and cheese was one of the best she ever had. That's woman that dishes up the meals is wonderful and treats people with respect. Super clean throughout. Clean restrooms. Went in today to buy some bottles of whiskey. I was in the liquor area for a total of 15-20 minutes and at no point did the two people over that section bothered to help me even when I was standing right next to them looking at them, they completely ignored me. I even came to the point of helping one of their customers find a bottle of whiskey because they were uninterested in engaging a customer! Upon leaving the section a taller older gentleman walked in and grabbed a bottle of wine, they talked to him like they knew him! That's great! But that means they deliberately pick and chose which customers not to engage! I went to Guest Services to tell a manager but there wasn't any managers readily available. Told the word the front desk what happened and she said I'm sorry, but I feel like that's where it was ending. So that's why I've come to Yelp to change my review because this is not the first nor the second nor the third time I have been treated like this or seen other customers treated in such manner. We don't live close to Market District, so whenever we're in the area, we take the chance to pop in. This store has all your grocery needs covered - and then some! The produce section is huge. The meat and fish counters have a large selection. There are so many cheeses! The bakery is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. Speaking of sweet tooth, there's a Sweet Shop with a variety of candy as well as ice cream. Then there's a separate beer, liquor and wine room, with so many varieties. There's also a cigar room. The only drawback we've encountered is that we'll order meat from the specialty deli counter by the cheese, and they have to all the way over to the regular deli to slice it. That's not the most convenient set up. And sometimes, there's no one at that counter, so we'll have to ask someone at the regular deli for help. The store is clean and organized. This review will be for the delicatessen and prepared foods only. My surgeon shops here for himself all the time so he bought me a boatload of deli items for my week stay at the Drury. Smoked herb beef tenderloin, lasagna, pasta with marinara, fettuccine Alfredo, seasoned green beans, pulled rotisserie chicken, chicken pot pie, roasted baby potatoes, fried chicken, chocolate chunk butter cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, and lemon herb shrimp were some of the goodies he picked up for me and delivered to my room. The chicken pot pie was the best chicken pot pie I've ever tasted. So great that I went back to Market District today to buy another one for lunch. Unfortunately they had run out of "hot" ones, so I bought a "cold" one, took it back to the hotel room and used the microwave to heat it up. It was still just as tasty as a hot one. I'm buying a couple more on Friday as I head home to finish my recovery. My sister has ranted and raved about their chicken pot pies and now I know why. My doctor told me the secret is that they use the rotisserie chicken in them. read more

on my lunch break today I called to this store to inquire about getting a cake for my sons birthday .. there were a lot of questions and requests involved on my part. My call was greeted by a man in the catering department by the name of Ryan. I am utterly BLOWN AWAY by his level of service. He absolutely went above and beyond to get all my questions answered.. helped me shop over the phone out of their cake selections .. and set the perfect one to the side for my husband to come pick up later that day. On the way home from a Dr's appointment, I asked my wife to stop because they tend to have good produce. I found some good looking grapes and a bag of mandarin oranges. Upon going to check out, I find one lane that has someone to check you out. When I tried to hand the cashier a $20 to pay, she refused to take the bill from me. There was a coin & bill mechanism below my knees that I did not see. I was told that was the only way to pay. I nearly just walked out right then. I've had 15 back surgeries and more than 20 others throughout my body. I'm not able to bend over without causing a great deal of pain. This decision to take agency away from the clerks, you limit their ability to assist someone with needs. Sure the machines don't make mistakes, but you've now lost a customer. Even though it's my favorite place for fruit, I'm not going to be caught in that difficult and embarrassing situation that you just forced me to be involved. This is probably my favorite grocery store. My husband and I are foodies, but I love everything here. I used to live in Maryland, so I was familiar with Giant Eagle grocery store and was excited when we got one. It's a bit more high end than a normal GE, but it's not any higher than Target or Kroger for a lot of items. We got a cake here for my birthday this year and it was so good! My friend who used to have a cake business even commented on how wonderful their cakes were. For her, that's high praise. Highly recommend! read more

This review is specific to Market District's Curbside Pickup, although I do love the in-store experience! I ordered my groceries online and same day pickup was available. My personal shopper texted me as he was shopping to let me know a particular cereal I ordered was out-of-stock and sent me a photo of a different option. He asked if there was anything else he could add to my order, which is appreciated in case I forgot to add something to my list. I received a text message to click a link and let them know I was on my way. Once I arrived, I didn't realize Curbside Pickup is now located outside the Pharmacy entrance on the west side of the building. The last time I did Curbside Pickup, pre-COVID, it was on the east side of the building. The signage said to call the number provided and I was confused because I indicated in the app which parking spot I was in. I waited a few minutes and as I was about to call, an employee brought out my order. I would shop here again, now that I know how their particular pickup system works. read more

Where did the focus on customer service go? Once upon a time, there was a quality, high-priced grocery store that catered to the overall shopping experience. The management had great fruit & vegetable selections, an enticing bakery, and hard-to-find products at a price higher than its competitors. Shoppers paid the extra money because they felt special. Those days are gone. You can still find the fruit & vegetables, the bakery, and the hard-to-find items at higher prices, but now you will find a plethora of "self-service" checkout lanes with waiting shoppers' carts clogging the aisle near those lanes. Expect to spend more time using their scanning machines and bagging your own groceries. Staff members are available if you can find one. They might be too busy, however, to thank you for shopping at Market District. Those employees are working in the camouflaged "full service" lanes, strategically placed in between the "self-service" lanes. Management made an odd decision: keeping prices high and removing any resemblance of feeling special as a shopper. On the bright side, if you go very early in the morning or near closing, the checkout lanes are not busy. read more

The hot foods order system was a little confusing at first but it was worth navigating. I picked a Faroe Island salmon fillet that was under 1 lb and asked the Anjosomething to cook it (which they do free of charge). The order slips are right on the counter and you fill it out choosing how you want it cooked and seasoned. Pick out any other sides you would like, pay, then go back and pick up your cooked meat and off you go. My salmon was perfectly grilled and I do mean perfectly with grill chars and it was superbly seasoned. I also had mashed potatoes with gravy and corn with bell peppers. All delicious and all ready within 15 minutes. Overall, a great little lunch experience, especially is you want to eat then shop. read more

After a little nature appreciation hike this evening, I was hungry but not in the mood for anything in particular. I hate to spend my own money when I'm not in the mood for anything. So, I consulted my giftcardfolio and #found $15 of cards for #GetGo - except they were also good at #MarketDistrict. After not having the best experience at GetGo last time, I decided to walk around Market District. It has been a loooong time since I snooped around there, but was really hoping Table would be open for dinner in a Sunday. No such luck. I walked around and around with the giftcards burning a hole in my hand to finally settle on healthy sushi and most unhealthy parfait cup. After prepping each piece of crisp, fresh sushi with a dot of wasabi and a dunk of soy sauce then taking each section as 1 bite, it's now time for my whipped topping reward. First time here and on my! I told my husband it was going to be a "target experience"- you know the one where you go in with no list and let the place tell you what you need? Yeah, that's totally what happened. We were child free and we spent an hour perusing a grocery store so many fun areas with so much variety and items I've never seen at other groceries! They also have a huge alcohol selection (lots of wine and craft beers) and a cigar humidor. Meats, cheeses, fresh popcorn section with corn in various gift containers, lots of beautiful fresh flowers and gifts, various candy. Their bakery- oh my, if I didn't already eat I would've got some donuts and maybe an adorable little buttercream dog shaped cake, ha! I ended up walking out with a bag of fresh cherries, Carmel cinnamon rolls, and colorful mini buttercream Whoopie pies! I used to live in Maine so I've excited to see how these compare. In my opinion, this is the best grocery store in Carmel. Or maybe even on the northside. You can practically get anything in the bakery is absolutely amazing. Customer service has consistently gone downhill, most of the specialty areas remain closed, The Table restaurant/bar went belly up and special events are virtually non-existant. Better quality/selection can be found in locally owned shops who often host tastings and other special events to introduce patrons to their offerings.
