There is usually some coupon or deal going on each week. You can't beat the prices are so SO affordable for a farmers market. I'm always sad when it's over for the season. They have kids activities the first Saturday of the month and give away something free to the kids. There is usually live music and at least 10 vendors selling everything from meat and eggs, to bread, jams, honey and popcorn to fresh veggies. Highly recommend checking this out if you're in the area on a Saturday morning!

Talking to the sellers is a great way to learn about new produce that you may not be familiar with. There are farmers who sell eggs and meat, flowers, bread, popcorn, and a wide variety of fresh veggies and fruit. Bring your own bags to help reduce waste. Small bills help. He was dressed to the nines in a bright blue shirt and black pants. He welcomes you with a how's it going welcome. This guy seemed younger with a bowl cut haircut and all one length pixie cut. He had the beard so assumed he is married. There was a small selection of rugs, baskets, pickles and jellies. The shop also had sewing machines and huge tables for cutting fabric. He didn't have change on him for a $20. I bought a jar of garlic dill pickles for $7 and blueberry ham for $3. The Amish cut the ends off of pickles. I don't know why. These pickles are super good and crunchy. I found their business while googling Amish stores by Osakis. Turn left to drive into Long Prairie and you'll pass some more residences and farms. Their white houses are so cute.

On our last day in Minneapolis I happen to notice that we'd be able to attend this Sunday event. Farmers Markets in California all range in size so I didn't really know what to expect for this one - holy cow! It was huge and lots of different local things. They had Minnesota grown produce, handmade products, fresh flowers, baked good and so much more. I was introduced to Ty's Gingseng (https://www.tysginseng.com/) who grows and sells 6 year old ginseng powder - which is very high quality. I also bought relish from Red Ron's as well as some sausage links from another vendor. To be honest I probably could have spent at least 1.5 hours here if I wanted to really study all the booths and check everything out, but we had brunch plans and needed to depart within 45 mins. Being a MN native, I haven't been back to the farmers market in awhile and I must change that!…read more I recently went the other weekend and it was such a great way to start my weekend morning with clothes, food, flowers, produce and the list goes on! Being able to support the community and get such staple items made my heart full. It probably wasn't the wisest choice getting hot soup on a hot day but it was so delicious. There was live music, went into the walk in cooler to take a break from the sun and went back to it. Every vendor was very nice and welcoming, got some treats for my dogs, a freshly made slush coffee, and some hot dogs to end the walk around. I can't wait to come back to grab more fruits and veggies and flowers!

Kalisch Family Farms has a loyal customer in me, now!! They are a local farmer that does everything…read morenaturally and organically. The best part is that they deliver to the metro area every week. That is so cool. I hate grocery shopping and get so disgusted with the poor quality of meats, filled with antibiotics and hormones. Same with milk. Now I get raw milk and grass fed beef. Not only does it taste much better, it is actually cheaper than the organic meats at Cub Foods. I tell all my friends about them because I am ecstatic that I now have a source for raw milk. We are lucky in Minnesota that we are able to get access to it. I give it to my dogs, too, and they juts go bonkers over it. My recommendation: try a gallon of raw milk, and get either ribeye or t-bone steak for your first order (and ground beef if you want). Cook up the steak and just take a bite without any steak sauce at first... just taste the pure meat... YUM!!! And with the milk, shake the bottle first (the cream settles at the top). Then, when you are done shaking it, drink a glass of cool REAL milk from a certified organic dairy farm. You won't ever want to go back to store bought milk!!!
