She answered all of my questions, coordinated transfer with the medical examiner, and even took time to speak to family members when I was overwhelmed. The fact that Endswell is more environmentally friendly alternative to typical cremation was also an important factor for me. Holloway communicated with us throughout the process (and called us so we never had to chase info from them) and we always knew exactly where we were in the process. This was so important to us as we were coordinating many details for family. I can't express how comforting they were. We chose to purchase a casket online and have it shipped to the funeral home and there was no pressure to buy from them. They coordinated the delivery, called to let us know when it arrived, and allowed us to inspect it to ensure all was right. Many things were difficult during this time but Holloway was one of the few bright spots and we'll be forever grateful.

When we contacted the business we dealt with 3+ people regarding the service which made it very difficult to communicate and ensure everything was taken care of properly. We had to basically start over with each new person and explain the situation over and over again which created confusion on the price and service. They promised to place a grave marker at the gravesite, but we still do not have one 4 months later! When we called the business the attendant acted like it was our fault and tried to make it seem like we didn't pay for the grave marker. Now the only way we can remember where the grave is located by a picture we took with our cell phone and it being one of the only grave sites without a marker (even though the attendant at the funeral home said the cemetery removes grave markers ). As I said before, for your own sake, use another funeral home. (Who will respect your loved one enough to put a grave marker by the grave as promised)

I had to fly out from California after my brother died in late March. Heather, over at the Crisis Center of the Chapel Hill Police Department, kindly provided me with a list of funeral homes. While everyone was professional, they were also almost twice as much as Knotts. And while I know it might appear unseemly to some to consider costs when it comes to planning the death of a loved one, it was less about the cost of cremating my brother than the way cremation was presented. Each person I spoke with at Knotts took their time with me. I never felt rushed nor did I feel like I was just a potential sale (as I did at a few of the others). While I will probably not need their services again, I can't recommend them highly enough. They are a small, family-owned business and it showed in every aspect of the process. Thanks, everyone. And it's not like you have a lot of money saved up for unexpected tragedy. You are just getting over a truly life-changing loss and then suddenly you have to come up with like $10,000 with some other funeral homes. I'm in Boston and my girl was in North Carolina. However Mr Peterkin handled everything well and it was very reasonable. It's like you are Shell Shocked from the loss of your loved one and you just want everything taken care of for you. And that's what Mr Peterkin was able to provide me. Nobody's perfect but he was always in touch and it made a big difference to me during a very tough time and sadly, it doesn't get easier. But Mr Peterkin really did a great service for me handling everything and did a great job in a very reasonable price and he was completely understanding and nice.
