She has never tried to upsell me and even steered me away from hair straightening processes I wanted to try. She definitely knows hair. In addition she got my daughter, her 2 BFFs and me ready for her recent Sweet 16. When I called to make the appt., I asked to be placed with someone who had been with salon at least 3 years and was an expert with color/highlights. I've been getting my hair highlighted for 30+ years and have never had an experience like this, and my hair has never looked this bad. The color is atrocious, the haircut looks like a 5 year old did it, the blow out was even worse. My hair is so badly damaged (like straw) it's going to take quite a while to recover, my hair is very short so I cannot even cut it to remove some of the damage.

The salon is located in downtown Somerville and has plenty of parking spots around. Public metered parking is pretty cheap and right behind the salon. Carina was my stylist and she did a wonderful job with my hair. I have pretty long hair and just wanted to get my split ends trimmed. She patiently listened to my request and made sure she wouldn't chop extra hair. Most salons charge extra if the hair is longer than shoulder length but SAFFIRE DOESN'T. I also got a 'glaze' done which was only $15 if you use Groupon for your main service. Regular price is about $30 I think. So in total I paid $45 for a haircut, glaze, shampoo and blowdry and that's a steal. Also, Carina was kind enough to run and add coins when my car parking time was expiring since I had product in my hair. They have a cute coffee station with coffee, cookies and other cold beverages. I was surprised with a small goodie bag as a new client. The bag had a hair serum and 2 discount coupons for future services. After looking at the reviews I decided to make an appointment with Heather and was not disappointed!! Not only is heather and all the ladies there super friendly, she took the time to find out what has been done to it in the past and from there come up with a process that will get me the color I want with no damage. Not many people in this area work with fantasy/unnatural hair colors, but Heather is the first I've been to who has done both natural and fantasy colors on me and every time does better than I had even hoped!
