This is the gravel in the dog park. Or actually it is the dog park.

This dog park has no grass in the dog park, it's gravel. Do they not know that dogs like grass? The latch on the gate to get in is huge. I've never seen a latch so big. I've never seen anyone else there when I take my dog. He doesn't like to stay very long, due to the gravel. He goes in sniffs around pees and he is ready to go.

This is the Club Med of dog parks. Tucked into a newish development, it's a little hard to find, but worth the effort. A receiving/ leashing area - with dog and human water fountain - opens to separate gated areas for small and large breed off-leash play areas. (I deducted a star because the doggie water fountain part is missing a button, but there's a stick you can use to push the water to flowing.) It's gravel and pretty clean, with nice dogs and owners. They have courtesy poop bags, so that seems to be an update from a 2008 review, below. To get there: go south on Somersville Road towards the Black Diamond hills, away from HWY 4, past Buchanan, then turn right on James Donlon Blvd., right again on Summit Way, right again on Crescent Ct., and park at the end. The dog park will be up the path at the end of the street.

All breed section. Shady area towards the back.

It hurts my dog paws and rules are to put them on the lease. My dog needs to run and enjoy the environment

A large,  clean dog park conveniently close to home!? Love it!…read more There's a separate area for large and small dogs, buckets with water inside and a sort-of working fountain in front. The grass is lush and well kept, and there are even trees being planted for future shade! What I love the most is how HUGE the space is for the big dogs. Just make sure to pick out a poopy bag from the front of the gate before you get in because the one inside is pretty far off. The only thing though is that it's just a damn shame there are still some nasty pet owners who don't take responsibility for their own pet and pick up after them. There was a large pile of poo laying out there for my boyfriend to step on... so be careful?

This is located in a newer developed neighborhood called (you guessed it) Highlands Ranch. They have 2 play structures, a baseball field, basketball court, tennis court, volleyball area, and a soccer field. They also have a large, covered picnic area right in the center of it all. You can reserve this space from the city of Pittsburg on non-holiday weekends. The only bad thing about this park is the wind. We all know that when we are playing a sport, the wind can carry the ball in unwanted directions. That's my only reason this park didn't make the 5 stars cut.

A nice lady shares a great neighborhood park, with enclosed areas that could be useful. Did take asking several people to find it.... It's not easy to assess as must park in neighborhood and walk to the area. Nevertheless... Great park once you find it. There is a an area for little dogs and a separate area for big dogs. I'm not a regular, but each time love gone... I've met well socialized dogs and owners. Everyone is considerate and only once did I see some poo not cleaned up...ie conscientious, responsible owners. I now have taken my new pup and still having a great experience thank you Clayton.

Google map will tell you "you have arrived" when you are on the main road (Clayton road/marsh creek), but the park itself is inaccessible from the main road. We took the first next turn after Google maps alerted us, parked on the street, walked on the trail path for a short distance and found the dog park. There were only one dog with one owner when we first got there and my dog had fun playing (Nice dog and owner!). After they left, we walked the trail for 2.5 miles then came back and more dogs - yay!! My puppy had a blast playing with all the dogs as all the dogs he met were nice. Also, nice owners! Everyone was "Claytonians" that live near by. I asked them if this dog park doesn't have a lot of visitors and they confirmed that most of the times there are only a few dogs or none. I hope more nice visitors would frequent this dog park so I can come here more often with my puppy as it's such a nice dog park/area! This park is good for shy dogs I guess (my puppy is not at all shy - he's the opposite). We will be back, but maybe just not as frequently until the dog park gets more dogs visitors.

It was neat in that there were historical building(s), a cemetery, and different parts of mines in addition to the natural landscape, plants, and animals to observe. I visited a few different times in 2018 plus or minus a year. One time I brought my friend Jinsol along and another time I brought family (my mom and dad). The park volunteers/workers were friendly when we encountered them. We appreciated the map(s) of the park, it helped with exploring. Some sites were more readily identifiable than others. My mom had difficulty on some of the steeper trails, though my dad faired well. Some parts of the mines had information displayed though were not open on my visits. One of my visits was during a heat wave, while the remainder were during relatively average weather conditions. Shade was sparse, though present, during the heat wave. Even in the shade however, the heat seemed to spread. On a different occasion I slipped and fell on a pathway that had a small section that was temporarily dominantly mud. A place requiring my full attention for traversing the trail system.
