A large,  clean dog park conveniently close to home!? Love it! There's a separate area for large and small dogs, buckets with water inside and a sort-of working fountain in front. The grass is lush and well kept, and there are even trees being planted for future shade! What I love the most is how HUGE the space is for the big dogs. Just make sure to pick out a poopy bag from the front of the gate before you get in because the one inside is pretty far off. The only thing though is that it's just a damn shame there are still some nasty pet owners who don't take responsibility for their own pet and pick up after them. This is a newer park in Pittsburg. The facilities are really nice and well maintained. I don't think I've every seen a hobo here. This is located in a newer developed neighborhood called (you guessed it) Highlands Ranch. They have 2 play structures, a baseball field, basketball court, tennis court, volleyball area, and a soccer field. They also have a large, covered picnic area right in the center of it all. You can reserve this space from the city of Pittsburg on non-holiday weekends. The only bad thing about this park is the wind. We all know that when we are playing a sport, the wind can carry the ball in unwanted directions. That's my only reason this park didn't make the 5 stars cut. read more

Based solely on the dog park portion of the park, this place is amazing! There's a huge fenced-in section for bigger dogs, and a smaller fenced-in section for small dogs. There are buckets provided for drinking water, and a kiddie pool for splashing around in. A hose is right next to the gates, which is great on hot days. Speaking of hot days - this park does need some more shade for our furry friends. There are some saplings planted, but their shadows are not yet large enough to provide relief from the sun. I love that there is a trail-like environment on the outskirts of the large dog area - I bet it's really great for people training their dogs for off-leash trail time. Make sure to bring your own bowl if your dog is picky (Jake will not drink out of those big, red buckets!) read more

This park is a great place to have family picnics, to bring your dog. Most of all I love taking my morning walks there! It's safe and friendly. To add, it's always clean, immaculate! I love this park. I love that it is very near where I live. I love how it guilts me into doing something active since it has a baseball/softball diamond, a soccer field, a tennis court, a basketball court, a beach volleyball court, and a running trail. I love that it has a gazebo where I can stay while watching my daughter playing in the playground. I love that families and friends hang out here. I love that it is well-lit at night. And I love that it is well-maintained. I love this park. What I don't really love is some of the people who come here. If you walk your dog, please practice the common courtesy of picking up after them. I have noticed more than one person wince in disgust after accidentally stepping on a pile of crap. I also don't love how some teenagers find that this well-lit place is the perfect venue for their amorous pursuits, in full view of everybody playing and milling about the park. But since this review is for the park, it is definitely a 4-star kind of place. And when the trees mature and provide more shade in the trail, it will be five stars! P.S. If someone figures out how to get rid of the people mentioned in the second paragraph, I'd start a Yelp petition for a sixth star feature. read more

I anticipated this park to be trashed considering all the parks I've been too in Pittsburg, but I was wrong. Tennis courts, soccer field, basketball court, baseball/softball field and a playground for kids captured my attention. Even a sand volleyball court! We had a family reunion at this park and I gotta say it was awesome. I gave it a four star for the following reasons - not enough shade. Their was a gazebo shaded space my mother in law rented and it was nice. However a shaded spot where the kids playground was would have been nice. -bathrooms were very clean, but not enough toilet paper to be able to refill. -parking is very limited, but you can park on the streets and still be at the parameters of the park. -ice cream trucks and a nice gentleman selling fresh fruit and Mexican goodies came around -you can also bring your dogs! Nice place to let them run around. Nice area over all. Would definitely host a party there again. read more

Is this a great park? Yes, the lawns are kept up & the picnic, playground & sport facilities are in good condition. So why only 3 stars? People... My wife & I came here to let our small dog play in the dog park. A woman showed up with her 90+ pound dog & brought him into the "small dog" play area. Our 8 pound pup was terrified of it, but when my wife brought this to the woman's attention, she made an excuse about "mud in the big dog area" and wouldn't leave... So we did. The woman swore her dog was friendly, but I tend not to trust people who don't have any regard for the rules or other people. Also, everywhere we went around the park (with our pup on her leash) we saw dog doo that owners didn't bother 2 clean up. So, like I said, the park is nice, but some of the people using it make for an unpleasant visit... read more

This park is awesome for dogs. Not so much for toddler sized kids. I love all the running space for my pupper. If you have a large dog that needs to get exercise, take them here. It's a great place to socialize and play around with other big dogs. There's a pen for small dogs... but who cares. lol read more

This is a really nice park! There are separate little and big dog areas, with a little bit of shade, even a plastic pool and a hose for the big dogs. The park is basically in a subdivision, but there is a small parking lot too. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the big dog area is totally fenced in, it's just up past the hill and blends in. The big dog area is huge! My dog Rory had a nice time with all the dogs there, there were several unfixed male dogs, but they were all well-behaved. read more

I came here with my Labrador and Miniature Pinscher and they both came back exhausted. Love that there is a lot of area for them to run around. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it didn't look all that well kept. There was garbage, a lot of unpicked up poop, and giant mud puddles right next to the entrance. Careful where you step! read more

We used to love taking our dog to this park. He could run around and play and get tired out. The time before last we sadly witnessed someone abandon their dog there after it had gone after another dog in the park causing no significant injuries thankfully since people stepped in. We had to call animal services to come pick up the dog and take it in. The dog looked to have been abused in some way sadly since he had scars all over him. He was thankfully sweet to people and came up to the lady that came to pick him up. Well today there was another dog that looked to have been terrorizing dogs. We saw another family leave with their dog but still wanted to try going in ourselves. It started off innocent and the dog just chasing and playing then the dog wouldn't let up and started causing issues. The dog wasn't listening to cues and my husband and I were trying to get the dog away and I had to grab the dog so my husband could move away with ours before things escalated. One of the owners came and grabbed the dog finally and let the dog go quickly and she tried to go back over. Even as we were leaving right after that the dog followed us to the water bowl and the owner had to come grab her again. We won't be returning to this dog park. It's sad that such a good park has people that don't care for their dogs or their behavior. read more
