The Genie garage door carriage that Marko sold to us and installed only 15 months ago on November 27th, 2023 only lasted 15 months. We went to open our garage door from our car remote yesterday and were unable to. After going into the house through the front door and entering the garage, we saw that the part was broken. How shocking that Marko sells such low quality plastic parts. Secondly, this happened to us at 3 pm on a Friday afternoon when we were trying to move our stuff back into the house after having it tented for two days. I called Marko and Eileen answered the phone. She was the one who set up the original replacement service call back in November, 2023. I gave her our original Marko work order # from their invoice which I had saved. I explained the situation to her and was very shocked that her simple and cold two-word response was "Call Genie". I told her that we needed a new part right away. She coldly informed me that they closed at 4 pm, would be closed for the weekend, and would not be able to get someone out to us until Monday afternoon. Besides not expressing even a word of apology for the inferior part that they sold us and/or any willingness to replace it, Eileen lacks customer service skills. Had this company come out to program remotes for a garage door opener that was working fine. Was told by Mike, the technician, that we needed an entire new unit. My husband was then charged over $1200 for a low level opener that costs $300. When I called immediately after I learned the price, it took numerous, unreturned calls to get Igor, a manager, to call me back. When he did, he admitted the opener costs $300 and said the rest was for installation. I then told him I wanted the opener removed and we would get someone else to do the work and told him his company took advantage of us. Igor told me his boss, Alexander, would call me - but he never did. Today, I received a letter with a different breakdown of charges than we were originally given. This company takes advantage of their customer, charges THREE TIMES what similar installation and products cost. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Our next steps are to take this up with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, Small Claims Court, and whoever else I can find to address this as this business practice of taking advantage of people here in South Florida is unacceptable. Yesterday at 9am my garage door opened but would not close. Upon my observation the chain and cable snapped and needed to be replaced. I called Marko and was told a tech would be at my house between 11-1pm. At 1pm I called to check on an ETA and was told she'd check and call me back. She called me back within 5 minutes and was told tech would be at my house in 30 minutes. Frank arrived and told me he had the parts and repair should take approx 1 hour. Frank was excellent and got me up and running in 45 minutes. He also made sure everything was lubricated. Back in Nov. I went with some other company that disappointed me. They took 4 hours to arrive. Multiple calls from me without calling to apologize or update. The technician was down the street ironically and swung by. He said I had forgotten to push the enter button on the pad. I pressed it and he left. 90 seconds tops. They charge me $149 for telling me to press enter. I said to them listen he was around the corner not 30 miles away. I asked them to give me a break he didn't do anything it's ridiculous. They finally charged me $75. We were having trouble with the garage door & motor, the door would not stay down. It was a motor mounted on the wall on the side of the door. A guy came out, Frank I think. This was before Alex took over. Anyway they rigged up a ceiling mount motor instead of using a side mount. The motor and door kept having problems and tried calling to get a repair. Frank came out and said the door was the problem. I never could get him to talk to me and tell what the problem was. I called another door company to come out. He said the wrong motor was used for this install and he could fix it for $1,200. A few months went by and the door started working again, then had trouble again. I must have called their office twenty time left messages and no one returned my calls. Door went out again, called another company who charged $120 to "fix" it. He also said the wrong motor was used. Called MARKO again but to no avail. No return calls. Sorry Marko but the door is still not right after about a year. My mother is afraid to use it in case it gets stuck again after hours. read more

Complete lack of professionalism which seems to fall in line with consumers prior experiences with Mary. They did a garage door install which went well but we misplaced the paperwork for the city to perform the permitting inspection. I asked why they didn't keep a copy and informed her that the city said they have a copy and can simply print out. Mary was pushy and continued to say that it is our responsibility to keep that record and provide to the city. She then said it would be the "adult thing to do" to keep the records and review the contracts to ensure you everyone is holding up their end. Once she said that I hung up on her and she then called my wife to ask her to look for the documentation. At the end of the day the city can simply print out a new copy of the permit to inspect accordingly. The owner clearly lacks the ability of professionalism, treating customers appropriately and I would certainly not recommend playing a husband and wife off each other. Total disrespect and inability to maintain basic customer services standards on such a trivial issue. read more

A few months ago, I purchased a new impact resistant garage door from Marko Doors. It was a great experience. The salesman was very knowledgeable and told me I could continue using my existing garage door opener, which was a great relief and saved me money. The installer was able to complete the job in one day and the new garage door feels very solid and is balanced so well that it is easy for me to open and close it even when I disconnect it from the automatic garage door opener. Yesterday, I was having problems opening the door and suspected that after 10 or 15 years my old garage door opener was finally giving out. I called Marko doors and spoke with the owner Mary who reassured me that I probably only needed a repair and scheduled servicemen to come out today; I was delighted that they could repair it the next day. They came during the time frame I was given (9 am to 11 am) and immediately determined the belt had lost some teeth and needed to be replaced, which they did. When they mentioned they would also lube the garage door rollers, I asked them to get me just before they did it and show me how to do it. The repairman said, "Better yet we will watch you do it to make sure you are comfortable doing it yourself." And I found out it was very easy to spray garage door lubricant on the rollers and track. Previously, the owner had suggested I get a single outlet surge protector for the outlet that the garage door opener motor was plugged into. I have a very high pitched garage ceiling and was nervous about standing on a ladder to plug it in, so I asked the repairmen to do it for me and they did. I couldn't be more pleased with the service I have received from this company. I highly recommend them. read more

I have used Marko anytime my two-car garage door needs servicing. Prices are quoted right on the phone when you call so no surprises. Today they came for a basic service (lubrication, etc) and to replace a broken roller. I also have a very old keypad that hadn't worked for years and I thought surely it needed to be replaced. Instead the tech figured out what was wrong, we put in a new 9volt battery, and voila- keypad works perfectly now! They could have told me I needed a new keypad, rewiring, etc and I would never have known. Instead they were honest and got me up and working with my existing equipment. THAT is priceless! There are many other Garage Door Repair companies to call before calling Marko. When asked for an explanation for cost of repairs, the owner Mary was put on the telephone. The facts in her explanation were fine, it was her delivery and tone that were condescending and unprofessional. I said that I was OK with moving forward with the work, but that did not care for the way she spoke with me. She said, "then refuse service and pay a $45 service call charge". I said "I'm OK with the service, just your bedside manner with customers is horrible and you should never speak with customers." With that she became enraged and said she was pulling her service guy and would not work in our home again. ALL I ASKED HER FOR WAS TO EXPAIN THE COST OF THE JOB. We were long time customers of Marko. But, there are many qualified garage door companies who are happy to answer questions and be respectful to their customers. It sounds to me like Mary has been doing this way to long and needs a break. I was able to find someone to do the work the same day, same warranty for less money then she was quoting. 8-10-20 garage door wont go down manually. Automatic has chain spinning around. Called the office male said don't known what I am talking about ask to sent picture said would be happy to help. Spoke to owner with pictures sent told me how to release the cord. Receive service on 8-11-20 since automatic did not work told me the price if chain is broken. On 8-18-20 new remote purchased fell on tile fall apart. Called 8-19-20 male said don't know what I am taking about I said you never know what anyone is talking about. I told him remote fell last night and I can't get it back together. He said if I broke it it will not go together I see nothing broken on the remote. I ask to speak to Mary she came on the line after some minutes. I told her this is the second time I have called and the fellow is rude and never knows what I am talking about the first time I have to send pictures and I do not know if he is her boyfriend or husband. She accused me of being rude and that she has being married over 40 years now. I told her remote fell on tile last night tried several times can' get it back together she said I need a stronger hand or ask my neighbor I told her there is no one else here and I don't know my neighbor. I wanted to know if I could bring the remote there said because of pandemic no one is allowed there and no one will see me yet I was asked did I come there for the remove I said no technician brought it during his service visit and programmed it. Now that it has fallen apart I don't know if I need to program it again. She said they normally just snap back in. I told her got 3 sides in but not the 4th she also said if it fell on the tile it wouldn't fall apart. Said if she have to send a technician over would have to charge me what's my address told her I am not going to pay for something I just bought if it fall apart that means it its no good I have several remotes that fell and did not fall apart quote so what you want me to do. I've used Marko Door Products twice in the past few years, once to replace the large roller springs and most recently to install some new rolls and put the garage door back on it's tracks. I have found their prices to be very fair and their service team to be very professional. When they say they will show up and call to let you know they are coming they do it even on a holiday eve.
