Even though the space is on the smaller side, it didn't feel cramped at all and had a nice, comfortable flow. We ordered the takoyaki and the sushi and sashimi moriwase. The takoyaki was perfectly done, it was crispy on the outside, soft and creamy inside, and full of flavour. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, clean-tasting, and naturally sweet. You can tell the quality of the fish is there. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

The restaurant gave me pub vibes and was somewhat dark. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We sat near the window where there was a large tv on the wall that was showing a video of a walk around of what one can only assume, is Japan(?). Wherever it was, it was captivating to watch. After perusing their extensive menu, we opted for the Salmon Combo and the Orangeville roll. Both were excellent and presented beautifully. Raw marinated crab - warning: this is a super messy dish! You get plastic gloves to help keep your hands relatively clean. We got the half spicy and half regular. The regular soy flavor helped to accentuate the natural fresh flavor of the raw crab. The spicy version has a really nice heat that grows over time. It was nice to have both options. The texture is something to get accustomed to but the crab pairs well on a bowl of rice. The beef stew we got was the seolleungtang. The broth was delicious, light yet flavorful. The beef was super tender and the sauce that came with it also pairs well. Noodles inside and nice and soft. Banchans were also great. The mashed potatoes was smooth, silky, and had a nice sweetness. Radish was spicy and acidic to cut the main dishes. Kimchi was crunchy and spicy with good acidity. Finally, the japchae was freshly made, noodles were good texture, nice hint of black pepper. The server was super friendly and checked in with us periodically to refill our sides and make sure we were okay. Great service here! The restaurant itself is located at the plaza at steeles, east of woodbine. On the other side of steels from J-town. Plenty of parking. Inside is clean and spacious with enough tables to serve decent size groups. Decor is also clean and simple and nothing too fancy. I felt that you can have a casual meal here. The menu itself is extensive but not overly so. I think they're known for their gookbap (soup and rice dishes) so I went with their original beef gookbap and I have to say it was as tasty as the gookbap I had in Seoul. Super flavourful, hot and the meat was tender and tasty. Even my friend had a taste and immediately said he'd come back for that too. We also ordered the kimchi jeonggal (kimchi stew?) with tonkatsu, marinated raw crab, kimchi pancake and tteokgalbi.
