The absolute best place to get pandesal in Scarborough, if not all of Toronto. If you've never had fresh, hot pandesal that has just come out of the oven, you are truly missing out. It may appear to be "just bread" to some but you need need need to try the fresh pandesal from this bakery! I love how lowkey it is, and the ladies that run it are so sweet and happy. The prices are also amazingly cheap. They have other Filipino favourites as well such as chocolate crinkles and puto. 11/10 would recommend!

Look at the size of this!

I was craving for some fresh baked pandesal so I tagged along with some friends to this Filipino bakery. Boy am I glad I went! As soon as you walk in you're greeting with the tantalizing aroma of fresh baked bread, I was in heaven. The store is small and cramped. The aisles are just wide enough for two lines of people to squeeze past each other (one coming and one going). There's a large variety of baked goods to choose from. There are cooling racks behind the display case with all the fresh out of the oven baked goods. There are also 2 large shelves with Filipino grocery items (they carry my favorite noodles - Lucky Me Chilimansi flavor) and a refrigerated section which has my favorite green tea (C2 which is sweetened with cane sugar). The line was long but it moved quickly. We ordered 2 dozen regular pandesal and 1 dozen wheat pandesal which came out to be a little under $10. I love that everything was labeled with the name of the item and the price. The store is efficient and well organized. These rolls are not the typical ones you find in the Philippines which are small and hard. These are similar to the ones you find in Southern California - large and soft with a touch of sweetness. There are a number of ways to enjoy it - dunk it in coffee or hot chocolate, toast it with some butter, use any kind of spread you have (nutella is always good), make sliders out of it, or use it to make an ice cream sandwich. The best way to see if it is really good though is to eat it hot, right out of the oven. Definitely coming back to try their other offerings.

    Halo Halo w/o ice cream

Came here primarily for the Halo Halo as I never tried it before. The halo halo ($7.50) was very filling it has shaved ice in top, coconut jelly, red bean, and other stuff I don't know. it got sweeter as I got to the bottom (too sweet for me). I was told by my friend I was supposed to mix it but the shaved ice was in big chucks and was very hard to mix I've also ordered the chicken and pork buns (~$5.25 for 3 buns). It was very similar to chinese steam buns, but the meat was flavourful. The ube bread ($3.25$) was very good, it was sweet but not overly sweet. I expected the whole mid section to have ube, but ube was not continuous, it breaks into section so expect plain bread depending on where you cut.

Every filipino knows about pandesal. And this place makes the best pandesal in Toronto. Their pandesals are so soft and lasts longer than the competition. All breads and pastries are made in house. Their pan de coco (coconut filled bun) is also really good. Airy, stuffed with sweetened coconut. They also make coconut pies, Spanish breads, and the summer faves of halo Halo and sago't gulaman. I mean it's sooo good that this is the only bread we send to our family in the US.

    Macarons $2.50

So glad I came across this bakery! This bakery has good hours, and before closing time, they still had many bakery items to choose from. I just had to try one of their specialties. I bought macarons for $2.50 (comes with 8 pieces). Tasted really good, perfectly sweetened! I'll make sure to drop by again to try more of their goods. They had many mamon's still available when I went (ube, mocha, and vanilla assortments), and would definitely try that next time. Review 82 of 100

Their designs are abundant on the website and they really get the design to a tee, it was PERFECT. Flavour selection is pretty good and I did have a short call with them while ordering on their site to determine which flavour was recommended as well as what colours I wanted the cake design to emphasize. I had to check Google reviews to confirm instructions on their location, but when I got to the Langham Square plaza it was easy enough to find based on their address (unit number 2006). Staff gave clear instructions at pick up to keep the cake in the floor of the car during transport and to store the cake in a fridge until ready to eat. The box for transport was great because I got to check the design easily before leaving and the ribbon was tightly wrapped to secure the box cover to the base. The staff speak Mandarin as well as English. Payment was all done online beforehand. Highly recommend ordering their cakes for any event!

Tucked inside Markham 朗豪坊, X Cafe is a takeout-only spot that keeps things simple but does them right. They have a solid selection of ready-made small cakes for quick pickups, and you can also pre-order custom cakes in your preferred flavors and sizes. Prices are very reasonable, especially given how fresh everything tastes. It's nothing over-the-top or flashy just genuinely satisfying when you're craving dessert. What impressed me most was how well-balanced the flavors were. Nothing overly sweet or heavy. I usually prefer sponge cakes over mousse, and theirs really delivered soft, airy, and perfectly moist with just the right hint of sweetness. A lovely go-to for cake lovers, and definitely a spot worth supporting if you appreciate thoughtfully made, no-fuss desserts from a local small business

Mango Red Rice Bento - A decent sized cake probably for 2 people. I'd say its a 6 in x 6 in cake. The sponge layers were moist and cream layers light. Salted Caramel, Mochi and Walnut Bento - The many different ingredients contributed to the complexity of the cake. There was the texture from the mochi and walnut, flavours from salted caramel and nuts. Would get again. Also got to try a slice of their millie crepe. I bought a couple of buns as a customer since then and I'm hooked! Bun Appetit is located at Commerce Gate. It's located closer to Highway 7. It's around the corner from Kinton Ramen, which I have been to a handful of times during the pandemic to pick up good eats. I found a parking spot steps away from Bun Appetit on a Wednesday evening at around 6:15 pm and backed in to it. It's easier to find parking when it's a weekday, in the afternoon. Bun Appetit's breads are naturally fermented for 168 hours. I liked that all buns and breads are gut-friendly and low on the glycemic index. I'm always interested in lower sugar options. I have sampled these items: - Baguette - Whole wheat walnut vegan bun - Lychee bun - Raisin earl grey bun - Oreo chocolate delight bun - Matcha pistachio pretzel - Whole wheat German pretzel - Yeast loaf with Nutella They were all delicious. They were soft and airy. My favourites were the whole wheat walnut vegan bun and the Oreo chocolate delight bun (also known as the messy hands bun). The former had whole walnuts that were so crunchy and fresh. The bread was chewy and soft. The messy hands bun used dark chocolate. It was also fluffy and soft. It lived up to its name. I had messy fingers just eating a morsel! It has 9 g of sugar, which is practically nothing being fermented. I liked how unique the flavours were. I loved the smell of the lychee bun. I wish it had lychee pieces in it. Instead, it was wine-infused and that flavour overpowered everything. I loved the yeast loaf with Nutella as a dessert option. I nearly picked up a loaf after this event was over! As a parting snack, I got the truffle mushroom one. It was the last one. I love mushrooms. It was super delicious with truffle oil, enoki mushrooms, spinach, garlic, and melted cheeses on top. The bun was soft and perfect. It was such a gourmet bun. I have since returned to get more buns: - Strawberry beetroot - Chocolate arancia The strawberry beetroot bun was fluffy. I decided to cut it in half. To my surprise and joy, it had whole strawberries in it. Wow and yay! I love fruit, but I wasn't expecting so much of it in this bun. I loved it. It was naturally sweet from the strawberries. The beetroot wasn't noticeable in flavour. I feel it added colour to the triangular bun more than anything. The chocolate arancia was equally as unique slicing it in half. This bun had candied orange bits in it. It tasted so good with the chocolate morsels on top and the subtle chocolate flavour in the bun itself. It was delicious. I need to return for more. I have found the buns of my dreams, which sounds odd and funny. It's all true! I paid with a credit card. You can register your phone number to collect points towards goodies. I'll be back. (185)
