It was a busy Sunday, we were put on a waiting list. We were then told after waiting 30 minutes, that we should consider leaving because the kitchen was too busy, and it would be a very long time before we could get food. Thanks. Nice place for the money. Ordered breakfast from the menu since the buffet looked sparce. Had an omelette which came with a pancake and skillet fries. The omelette had plenty of filling, the pancake was fine and the fries delicious. Son had the smoked sausage breakfast with eggs, toast & skillet fries. The sausage was tasty and not overly salty, the eggs were good as well as the toast. Filled us both for less than $20. Coffee wasn't the best, but I was there for the food. We hear the Friday night fish fry is as good as those in Wisconsin....that's good! read more

I come here about three times a week with a group of friends, we love this restaurant. Except for Angie. She is a "waitress" here and single handedly ruins our night every time we come. Needless to say I recommend this place to everyone. But if your waitress is Angie. You might as well go home, you'll get better service from your cat. read more

At there in July. The food took a little long to get after we ordered. But, it was 1/2 off burgers. The waitresses made sure we were ok and let us know of the delay. The kids were given crackers and croutons to keep entertained while we waited for our food. It was worth the wait. read more

My wife and I stopped in for a late breakfast around 10 AM. Seated quickly, but received no service for about 15 minutes even after asking waitresses for service (we were seated right in front of the waitress station) and being ignored. The breakfast items and baked goods looked really good. I had a BLT for lunch as In town for work, thought I would give this place a try. I didn't want a heavy lunch. The BLT had the equivalent of almost one slice of bacon per half. I was expecting a little more bacon than that. If it was thick cut bacon it might be acceptable for an $8 sandwich but that was not the case. I had to wave the flies away frequently as there was 4 of them constantly at the counter. Impression is this would be a good place for a good breakfast but otherwise I wouldn't hurry back. read more

Having seen very positive reviews, we went to Marlin's for a late dinner and were extremely disappointed. It was a lively place and people seemed to know one another well -- a really good feel. The restaurant was less than half full, but it took quite a while for a waitress to take our order and then the food did not arrive for close to 40 minutes. I ordered a hot open face turkey sandwich. When it arrived, it was barely room temperature. The food was truly inedible and drowning in cold gravy. When the waitress returned more than 10 minutes later, I shared this with her and her response was that "the kitchen did it all the time." She did not offer to bring me something else or deduct the cost of my meal from our bill. It was certainly not, the "flavor-filled, mouth watering meals and hand crafted comfort foods" that the restaurant advertises. read more

My son and I were in transit and stopped at Marlin's for breakfast. The good: the restaurant was seemingly new, sparkling clean and visually interesting with lots of automobile and gas station signs and memorabilia. Service was not always quick or attentive but our server was cheerful and professional. The bad: the food, otherwise typical eggy breakfast fare, was, at best, mediocre. My boyfriend and I went there tonight for the worst food and service. We used to enjoy eating here but tonight has proven bad enough we revoked our customer status permanently. I ordered a cornbread benedict no sausage with hollandaise instead of country gravy. I do not eat pork. I was brought a regular benedict with ham. When I advised I don't eat ham and I ordered the country benedict my waitress offers up cornbread on the side. I didn't want the English muffin that was brought on my plate. This was part of the reason I got country benedict rather than the regular. My boyfriend's order was a complete conundrum. His pancakes also tasted like the grilled onions previously grilled for someone else. Did I mention he abhors onions. We will never go back again. read more

Atmosphere and staff was good- a huge place so there was no waiting to be seated. My fiancé had breakfast - eggs bacon sausage ham hash browns - the food was greasy - the bacon was too thin no flavor the sausage tasted like it was processed - not good at all - I had a patty melt and fries - not the best - but not the worst. Terrible. My son ordered a steak and it looked like it had been reheated and you could hardly get a fork into it because it was so tough. The waitress forgot to put my meal on the ticket so it didn't arrive with the rest of the food. When it arrived it had a hair on it! For real, A HAIR! The waitress offered to remake it but I declined. Manager said that our meal was comped but only the meal I sent back was free. The toast had margarine and hash browns were grilled in a butter substitute. My daughter ordered the chef salad and it only had iceberg lettuce and too many large onion slices. There were flies all around that constantly landed on our food. No one in my party finished their food, it just was not edible. Service was very slow and the restaurant only had a few guests. There are two places on Yelp at the this address with the same / similar names, beware! read more

Waited 10 minutes to get seated, not too bad it was busy. Then ordered food pretty quickly but then waited too long for average food at best. Have eaten at Marlin's in Sioux Falls, Mitchell, and Rapid City however I don't recommend the Bismarck restaurant. Staff more interested in printing up bills, eating themselves, or just staring at customers who are left wondering why did I stop. No posted time for dinner however, husband was refused the Wed. special bur could order dinner from the menu. Guarantee will never eat there again. The other restaurants food was good and plenty of it. Staff was always friendly and helpful. read more

Seated right away. Jordan our server was on top of everything, coffee never went empty. The Lucky 13 Friday Breakfast special was awesome. Three fluffy plate sized pancakes, Three eggs, three sausage, three bacon and hashbrowns for under $7. They also offered onions, green peppers, cheese, and/or mushrooms as add-ons for the hashbrowns. What a gem in a small town! Breakfast, lunch and dinner 24 hours a day. That's a blessing for weary travelers. Tyler is a wonder server. My husband and I eat here on occasion. If you order food that's on the menu, it's usually pretty tasty. The breakfast buffet is pretty decent but I do not recommend the lunch buffet unless you like cold, stale food that will almost certainly give you an upset stomach. The service is hit-and-miss. For many years went to that restaurant often as we have none worth going to without traveling to Sioux Falls. Unfortunately, and not us alone.do not appreciate the country music playing and not so softly where you don't take notice. Waitresses have said customers have commented so either the manager expresses a deaf ear or they, the waitresses need to mute themselves. I prefer modern although I would not impose this but being in my sixties, have more common sense. The manager needs ear buds so he can turn up his music to HIS likeness. We had enjoyed meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner but now stomachs churn and find we cannot enjoy the meals and rarely stop. When he is not there, the volume turned down, although not a country fan, it's low keyed and background music and the meals enjoyed.Otherwise, for the area, I would have given it 5 stars. read more
