I asked to be placed in a center for excellent physical therapy after receiving a total knee replacement. I arrived Friday afternoon and did not receive any kind of physical therapy until Monday at approximately 11 AM. I over did it on the bike peddles that I had to take the next day off. This was not the place for that. I wish there would've been more in the way of physical therapy and care on my actual leg that was operated on like I received 15 years ago when I had my previous knee replacement. Thank God I brought my own ice packs and ice circulating machine for my knee, the staff was friendly but short. You constantly heard the float staff Aning about the agencies they worked for. The staff, nurses and administrators were all helpful and understanding when my dad needed time to recover and regain strength. Facility food isn't the best or freshest but they tried to get more fruit and veggies on the menu. read more

I am thankful that they figured out my mother needed a pacemaker. That was hugely helpful and because of that she is no longer a fall risk and got off oxygen. Also the activities director was amazing and put on wonderful activities every day for nurses week. But every day when I came about 4pm she was still in bed in her nightgown. And they purposely kept her walker and wheelchair out of reach. So instead of gaining stamina at a "rehab" facility, she lost stamina. The hospital did a better job of at least having her weight bear and stand pivot to the recliner chair. They don't have recliners at Newberg Marqui. The only time they got her up was 15-30 minutes of either OT or PT. And, I don't think they evaluated her correctly. They were working on standing balance when she was way past that. She just needed to build stamina in walking further and further with her walker. Maybe they were short staffed but she was in bed 24/7 unless I got her dressed and in a wheelchair or walked with her with her walker. I ended up getting her out of there and bringing her home with me which gave her alternate seating of dining table, recliner and bed. She rehabbed herself that way.This experience caused me to buy an accessible home that can be used instead of rehab. Maybe some people are used to living in bed all the time but she is not. She lives in an apartment where she can move around as she likes. read more

As a travel nurse, I've seen nearly every facility in Oregon and have worked at them as well. I recommend this facility over any other. I would put my own family members here as nearly all of the experiences I have had with Marquis Newberg have been positive. The staff is caring, kind, and attentive. The rooms are cleaned well and do not smell. The exterior is groomed and beautiful and is utilized as a space for patients to enjoy when weather permits. The location is also nice, as it feels like you're in the countryside. 10/10 recommend! read more

We have had a relative at Marquis for at least five weeks now. They came in with a broken ankle and were needing PT to be able to move back to assisted living. The care and PT have been satisfactory and the nurses all seem nice. However, we have a problem with the communication of Marquis to us as the primary family members and the ones responsible for health care. We have left phone messages with PT staff, administration and nursing staff, and not received any return calls. We have had direct conversations with PT staff and nursing staff who have said they would get back to us and have not. We even had a phone call with the head of operations who promised that she would call back that afternoon and five days later I'm still waiting. The only call we have gotten was to inform us that there was a Covid outbreak and our family member tested positive. We have had no official progress updates. There was never an orientation or meeting with us to let us know what to expect, what they were responsible for and what we were responsible for. We arranged an appointment with the orthopedist, told PT and then were told by the front desk they didn't know about the appointment and that they were supposed to make them. We were concerned about our relative having Covid and if he should see a doctor and were told the resident doctor was seeing him. No one had even told us that there was a resident doctor and that our relative was receiving care. The lack of communication is upsetting, especially now that there is a Covid outbreak there and, because of our own medical conditions, cannot go in to visit. My mom had a pretty bad fall and the hospital felt my mom should go to rehabilitation to help with physical and occupational therapy. My mom is strong willed and can be set in her ways. Up until 6 months ago she was very independent and living alone sadly that has changed. My mom did start keeping notes of things. She was told several times when needing to use the restroom hit the call button. After waiting 10-15 minutes of no one showing up she walked to the restroom herself. Turns out she fell in the restroom and hit her face on the toilet. She didnt report it because she was afraid it would keep her there longer and afraid of the staff. We found out about the fall cause she developed a black eye. They never took a report nor had a xray done. Oh I forgot to mention 6 months ago she was in the hospital for a month due to a blood clot in the brain. Her doctor said yes a head scan should of been done esp since she started developing a head ache after that. She was there for under 2 weeks and I was very happy when they said she needs out patient pt and we have her going to a good pt facility now. She would complain the food looked nasty and wasnt that good after seeing it fo some meals I kinda agreed. Last issue she would ask for her meds and follow doctor orders. She would end up waiting a extra hour way past her time. They even tried telling her she already had it. She would pull out her phone look in the notes and be like no I had it at 8am and its 6pm I'm allowed that med every 4 hours of needed. Then they come back 5 minutes later and be like sorry u are correct. I also posted a pic of dinner my mom was suppose to eat one night. It was a chicken thigh with a couple of fries and my mom didnt eat it cause the chicken looked brown.. glad I dont have to deal with this place anymore cause it felt like they wanted to get my mom out for trying to have a voice there and they dont like that. Before I forget me or my husband would go visit my mom everyday. I would say at least 50% of the time several nurses never smiled, had a scowl look on their faces and never looked happy being there. One night a older nurse wearing a choker around her neck came in my moms rooms handed her meds and said here. No smile no personality nothing. I even did hello how are you she looked at me and walked out. She had a look like she hated life there. Some nurses are pleasant and polite. Unfortunately there aren't many there. read more

I recently stayed at Marquis Newberg for 49 days. I went there to recover from spine surgery that was caused by an infection. I am in my 50s and spending 7weeks at a skilled nursing facility was not on my bucket list. The staff and other patients at Marquis Newberg turned what could have been a dreaded experience into an incredibly positive one. My stay coincided with the outbreak of the Covid 19 virus and, while the virus infiltrating so many senior care facilities became a national headline, the staff did a magnificent job of assuring it did not make its way into Marquis Newberg. Although I am not a senior, I had the opportunity to observe firsthand the care and nurturing this remarkable staff showed their senior patients and if my mother or a senior relative required a senior care facility I would not hesitate to send them to Marquis Newberg. As someone who was recovering from a devastating surgery, I would also highly recommend doing your rehabilitation from an injury here. The facility itself is newer and extremely well maintained. The gym and dining room were clean and up to date. The rooms were cleaned daily and there was twice weekly laundry service. The food was absolutely delicious. If you didn't want what was being served, the staff would prepare a different meal for you. If it looked really delicious, you could order a double serving. I can't say enough good things about the nurses and assistant nurses. A culture of genuine caring permeated their treatment. They were always upbeat and nurtured the specific needs of all who were in their care. The same nurses tended take care of the same patients which allowed them to get to know their individual likes and needs. They treated those in their care as if they were friends or relatives. They genuinely loved their jobs and their patients and it showed in their service. The caring that they showed toward me and the other patients was extraordinary. By the end of my time here I considered the nurses and assistants- Italy, Linda, Anthony, Kristen, Andre, Christina, Sylvia... and too many others to mention- to be friends in addition to care providers. The physical therapists were kind and encouraging and appeared to tailor each patient's therapy to their needs, abilities and personal temperament. The activities director, Dawn, was a positive force of energy and went above and beyond to insure that patients emotional needs were being met. The culture of any business usually begins with management. I found that to be the case here. Jocelyn and the other administrators were as kind as the staff. Their doors were always open if you needed to discuss financial or other matters. They made sure that their facility was managed in a professional and caring manner. In addition to their administrative duties, they could be found checking in on patients or tending the wonderful gardens on the grounds on their lunch breaks. In summary, if you are rehabilitating from surgery or an injury, I don't think you could find a better facility to recover at. If you are looking for a place for a parent or older relative to rehabilitate or stay long term, I am certain you will be more than pleased with the care they receive at Marquis Newberg. read more

I was a patient back i October of 2019. I was in there for approximately 30 days. I was unable to move on my own because of a bad procedure from a doctor. Therefore, was sent to your facility. Because I was unable to move on my own I was assigned a male nurse that would help me to the bathroom. When in the bathroom the male nurse sexually abused me. Telling me that it was his job and no other female nurses was available. I felt violated and helpless of asking for help. He also told me that if I refused his help I could just go to the bathroom in the bed. This abuse happened more then a few times. That male nurse proceeded to ask me for a date and also asked me about the color of my pubic hair. It always happened at night where he had full control of the unit I was in. Avoid this place. The staff does not take patient care seriously. They are not accountable for care and do a horrible job of case management. Nobody seems to be happy to be working here. PT/OT therapy is inconsistent and not planned and worked through well with patients and family. read more

I fell and broke my pelvis, ended up at Marquis Newberg. Got off to a rough start but things smoothed out quickly. I have no complaints with the people that cared for me, some are better than others....just like in any profession....they try hard to make you feel at home, and while they take their jobs seriously, they are light hearted and friendly. The menu is varied and there are choices if you want to eat lighter than the days offering. The therapists are hard working and focused on getting you back on your feet and ready to go home. The social director plans trips that get the residents out of the facility and are a pleasant reprieve from the regular schedule. There are crafts, raised flower beds for residents to plant flowers or seeds, musical groups that preform in the dining room and classes that focus on specific issues such as stroke etc. I have never been in a care facility before, but can assure you that if I had to go back to one, I would request Marquis Newberg. read more

Patient staff was very kind and professional. Physical Theropy worked well to improve patient range of motion and encourage patient improvement. Food was good but filled full of starch. Nurses were prompt when patient was first admitted but later scarce and slow. Staff were professional and energetic. Overall I would recommend Newberg to friends and family read more
