Especially if you are young and your teeth are in pristine condition. Dr Nguyen seems to be ill-suited to dealing with geriatric patients though. I am hearing disabled and with everyone wearing masks it was impossible to have a conversation. My not being able to hear her seemed to irritate the doctor to no end. I worked with the office staff over e-mail prior to my first visit to develop a treatment plan that was workable and affordable using my insurance. Apparently, this plan was never run by Dr Nguyen for approval. During my visit Dr Nguyen said I needed to go to a Periodontist and not come back until s/he has cleared out several pockets in my gums. My dental health has been in decent shape (for a very old man) and I've been under the care of a very good Dentist for many decades. He retired several years ago so I've been looking for a new dentist that is in-network for my insurance. I was told that I would be getting "Periodontal Maintenance" treatments at Perfect Smiles so when I inquired why I was being sent elsewhere the Doctor blew a fuse. So excuse me for not knowing that "periodontal maintenance" is not actually performed by a Periodontist. You may totally love this place. Clearly some of my fellow Yelpsters do. While the staff was very nice (at least until I was politely told to go elsewhere) all that sweetness and sugar coating is a facade. I started seeing my previous dentist when we were both young. He was right out of OHSU dental college. I was hoping that he would outlive me but I never imagined that he would retire just because I did. If you don't have a regular dentist that you know and trust you may find locating one in this town to be quite a challenge. Dr Nguyen was crankier (at least towards me) than any Naval dentist ever was and those guys are legendary for being crabby.

The staff is 100 percent understanding, Doctor Jessica Irwin genuinely wanted was best for my family. Doctor Irwin has a child of her own and I feel as if she understands where a parent is coming from . I'm really only on here to say thank you to every single one of there staff and extremely thankful Dr. Irwin it's almost as God dropped her off at my front door steps as a Christmas present. That tool can be painful in the wrong hands but she did a first rate job and I could tell she really cared that the cleaning was done correctly. I've been meaning to write a review for Hillside for quite a while now. I've been a patient of Dr…read more Braxmeyer for (I think) 7-8 years. I work from home and Hillside is right down the street from me. My previous dentist had retired, so I chose Hillside initially based on close proximity to home. The nice thing about the office is that they'll print out a plan for the work to be done on your teeth (if you have lots of issues like I do)--in my case, this is a long-term plan over several years in order to coordinate my dental insurance and what I pay out of pocket. Fixing teeth is not cheap, no matter where you go! But I find Dr. B to be practical. She prioritizes the work, so I know what I need to get taken care of more urgently. She is professional but also friendly and receptive and has a good sense of humor. I always know she has my best interests at heart. Also, she is VERY patient when she applies the numbing agent (shot)--slow and steady. You may not think that matters so much, but I had a dentist a long time ago who shot me up so quickly and often didn't leave a lot of time for the solution to fully numb and inevitably would have to give me a second shot. I thought that was "normal" until I went to my prior dentist and to Dr. B. A dentist should not rush you through the drilling process, and I know Dr. B cares about my comfort and doing things right. Also, Sam is one of her dental assistants and is most often the one to work with me. Sam's my buddy and has a great personality and sense of humor. She, too, is very thorough and cares about doing things right. I used to need nitrous oxide before drillings with my prior dentists, but I don't need it anymore because this team puts me at ease and I know Dr. B is going to be gentle and take her time and drill carefully. The front office has endured a number of changes over the past couple years, but I haven't had any negative experiences. Up until this past spring, I had the same dental hygienist all these years, but there have been changes there, too, and I understand there's a serious shortage of dental hygienists everywhere, so it takes time to get the right people in place. That said, I've never had a bad experience with my cleanings. Overall, Hillside Dental has a good team of quality professionals and I'm pretty happy with my experience over the years. If you live anywhere in the neighborhood (or work nearby), Hillside is a great place to go.

I recently took two of my kiddos there for an appointment that was scheduled a month out from when I called and the appointment was only that soon because I made several complaints. When the doctor told me both of my boys need follow up treatment, I was happy to hear that they are referring my son on the Autism Spectrum to a specialist. Instead of being able to make the other follow up appointment in-person, while I was right there, I was told that I needed to call. Calling leads to long wait times on hold. Additionally, the follow up is scheduled for December, and my child may not even have insurance by then. Go elsewhere if you have the opportunity.

The first impression was established long before we even set foot inside the beautiful space, when I exchanged texts with the scheduling staff to coordinate a time for the appointment and insurance. We had an insurance glitch on our end, for which we had to cancel and reschedule the initial appointment, and the staff was extremely kind, communicative, and non-judgemental. I really appreciated whoever was texting me on the other side, for their warmth and helpfulness, sharing information I needed without any added pressure. That experience alone set the tone for how the experience was going to be once we made it in. In terms of the appointment itself, it was so seamless, and to be honest, quite a luxury experience! The space is gorgeous and welcoming, and you can tell Dr. Chloe put a lot of thought into curating every little detail of the space, from the soothing paint colors, to decorative elements, to the playroom, to the little board with the kids' names! Each dentist chair had an overhead TV for the kids to watch their own shows while leaning back comfortably for their procedures. My son didn't even flinch or notice there was anything actively happening inside his mouth the entire time! At this time they have Netflix available (which we don't watch at home, my kid is usually glued to his niche shows on Disney+ and YouTube). The hygienist did an amazing job communicating with my son and me, making him feel like he was making his own big boy decisions (i.e. choosing the flavor of polish), and Dr. Chloe was so personable and thorough. We were fully ready to get xrays done for the first visit but she recommended saving it for a future visit so the first one would remain a positive experience for our kiddo.
