Willamette providers are friendly and competent, however, there are long wait times for appointments and follow up appointments. I recently took two of my kiddos there for an appointment that was scheduled a month out from when I called and the appointment was only that soon because I made several complaints. When the doctor told me both of my boys need follow up treatment, I was happy to hear that they are referring my son on the Autism Spectrum to a specialist. Instead of being able to make the other follow up appointment in-person, while I was right there, I was told that I needed to call. Calling leads to long wait times on hold. Additionally, the follow up is scheduled for December, and my child may not even have insurance by then. Go elsewhere if you have the opportunity. read more

From the x-ray techs to the hygienists to my actual Dentist, everyone is so friendly and provide excellent care. I am writing this review about an experience that I had with Willamette Dental about 10 years ago that still bothers me to this day. I was about 13 years old, and was rushed to my dental appointment at Willamette by my dad, and I didn't get a chance to brush my teeth before the appointment. Towards the end of the appointment, my dental hygienist (or whoever the asshole was) came back into my room laughing at me with a huge smile on his face and said "you really need to start brushing your teeth." He had been laughing so hard before he entered the room that he could barely even say that sentence. I was mortified, and was too shocked and shy to explain that my dad didn't let me brush my teeth before the appointment and that I had just finished eating an entire meal. Other people (other hygienists, I'm guessing) peeked into the room laughing/smiling at me as well. As people in the healthcare field, it's important to have BASIC HUMAN EMPATHY and be trauma-informed because you NEVER know what someone is going through--abuse, neglect, mental health challenges etc. Anyways, I hope that this particular dentist (white man, dark brown hair) has either gained an enormous amount of empathy and compassion since then, or I hope that he is as miserable as he makes other people feel. read more

Call to schedule and they said I have an appointment when they didn't give me a actual appointment like I was told its a show up at your time that you thought was an appointment and wait. Don't go to this place. They will charge you for a visit when all they did was look into my teeth just to tell me that l I'll need additional cleaning. I come in 2 days later because in my mind I thought maybe they didn't have time to finished their work. Well, I was sure wrong they spend 20 min just cleaning my front teeth and once I was done they charge you another visit when it should have been a reschedule since they didn't finished their work. I go here for my children and use both the upstairs and downstairs offices. Dr. Purcell is great and kind, and Dr. Kat is awesome with my son. Initially I thought they were condescending, however some inner work has revealed that dentists are just doing their job and I could have been projecting parental insecurities-- not a topic for this review lol. Anyways, both of the dentists we have worked with here do a great job managing care for my 8year old and my 4 year old. They are informative and friendly. Upstairs is quicker with appointments for my younger child, while downstairs does take a few months to get in, which would be my only complaint. However, that seems like the general complaint for almost all dental offices in the Portland metro area, so I'm taking that as a win! I appreciate the work these doctors do! read more

It is fantastic helpful dentistry, the staff is nice, and I'm a trauma patient from the past. 24 years ago I got bed experience with a dental Hygienist from Switzerland Europe. The staff dentists and aid are qualified, they know what to do. In my life, this is the best dental office. Mental and Emotional Abuse caused by this company. It is reprehensible how their back office staff treat people. Dentist is great, denturist is a kiss ass for the company. Their appeal process is shit. THey DENY you your rights to appear in person, as it is STATED IN ALL PAPERWORK for appeals. They sent me to Head and Neck Surgical Associates in Portland for surgery-that surgeon stitched cheek to gums, ground down the bone so much that I no longer can have regular dentures. Now Willamette refuses to allow me an in persoin appeal, let alone refuses to provide what they are responsible for, and that is assisted dentures. Assisted dentures have 2 implant posts that the dentures snap on to. I am beyond upset and my recommendation is to find another dentist/denturist to take care of you. When you do,make sure they do NOT send you to Head and Neck Surgical Associates. They have refused to take responsibility for their screw ups. Willamette Dental Member Services are as useless and a piss ant in the sugar bowl. They do nothing and cannot follow through with what they tell you. Wild how these medical facilities that obviously make a lot of money are always understaffed, unorganized, and incredibly incompetent. Numerous times I've dealt with them and not a single good experience. It took me a year of calling to get an appointment - a year - I've never even had to spend more than a day calling anywhere else, but this is the only place nearby that will take my insurance. And they have an insane process. They told me they only book a month out and they will call me when they are ready to book again, but they forget to call almost every single time, and when they do they leave a message for a number that is a separate location that just sets up the appointments. When you call you can wait on hold for half an hour. And there's no one to cover their lunch but you don't know when you call that no one is there, no warning just on hold during that entire hour to hour and a half of lunch break. Then once you talk to the appointment lady, she has to forward you to the actual location (no direct number) and you wait on hold there or just get the voicemail. Then you find out later they are booked up again and you go through this Hunger Games process for about a year and then maybe if your teeth haven't fallen out then you can get an appointment... We are devolving. It's been almost two years since I've been to see them. Worst dentist ever... if you can afford it at all avoid this place at all costs. - Edit to the response on Yelp here from the employee there - I don't need to call you, what are you going to do? you can't give me back my time that you wasted... just stop being terrible at everything always - maybe take a lesson from every other dentist on the planet... read more

this was my primary dentist/orthodontist for 7+ years and i am still traumatized from their unprofessional practices and left my teeth placed too far to the right causing me to have a very poor quality of life and bitten down tissue on my cheek. I really like Dr. Fleming and his hygienists & assistants. All very caring & efficient. The office is bad at getting back to you (plus you can't contact them directly. Have to go thru Main office to do that for you, but they often can't get thru to the local office anyway). Scheduling is often too far out also. read more

Going to this dentist has been a terrible experience. I had dentures made and I can't use them. I keep making appointments and telling them they are too painful to use. When I finally am able to be seen they will make a minor adjustment and then they say I need to get used to them. It's been 6 months and they are still to painful to use. Recently went here for a double appointment for both myself and my daughter. I was nervous to go because it was our first dentist visit since moving here and my daughter is 3 years old. If you don't know, toddlers are notorious for their strong will and I had reservations about how a dentist visit would go. Thankfully, there was no need to worry. Everyone was amazing and took such great care of both of us. Dr. Kayla Walters was our dentist and she was friendly, caring, and gentle. All of the staff that saw to us made sure to explain everything and ask consent which made us feel very comfortable. I want to give a big shout out and thank you to one person in particular on the staff that made our visit especially great. Her name is Rosa, and she took such amazing care of my daughter. She made the visit fun for her, and my daughter left the dentist happy and smiling and excited to come back next time. I spent many hours on Dr. Lee's chair last summer. And many of those hours were me coming back so that she can fix what she previously did. And now, a year later, her work broke again, while flossing on top of that, and they won't do anything ing about it despite her saying it was covered for 2 years . I was unsure where to start. I have to use this company because of my employer insurance. With that said, I have not once had a pleasant interaction from start to finish. The Assistant that I have had to deal with on 2 occasions was rude and snarky. (The Dr was nice). I have a crown the 3 times I was seen for this crown I explained that some thing was not normal with it. They said it is fine. Well it broke off and 1/2 of my tooth with it. They refuse to fix it at the time of the 3 visits. Scheduling me for yet another appointment. (I feel they just want $$$). I was told I would receive a call from the office manager after I brought up my concerns. (In person and online) that was 4 weeks ago. I do not recommend them. read more

Incredible dentist & dental assistant. Went in with an infected tooth today and they were incredibly kind, patient, thorough, and just all around pleasant to work with. I have dental anxiety that goes off the 1-10 scale and even without anything for the nerves they were able to pull my tooth and didn't make me feel like a terrible freak for letting it get so bad. I'm amazing I previously did not write a review for this office as I had such amazing experiences where they were really fixing my smile so efficiently. Both dentists I had were just amazing to work with. Their assistants were friendly and showed such care and compassion. I was scheduled to get a chipped tooth with a bad cavity fixed in 2016. In December I lost my job and I was trying to get into their office while I still had insurance but then I was suddenly stricken with an unexplained illness so I had to cancel and told them what happened. A year and a half later and I am fine again though I had to relearn how to walk - my Doctor cleared me. I just started onto new insurance and oh yay - I can go here again. I've been meaning to get in but I broke a darned tooth and it started REALLY hurting - when I am in pain it's probably like two weeks later than I should have complained about it so now I have migraines, sinus issues...the whole shebang. So much pain in fact that I overslept and failed my first appointment which I own - I was mortified waiting another day due to the pain level steadily becoming intolerable. Dentist asks if anything has changed medical wise to which I say yes, I am much better now thankfully (assuming they had the notes as to why I was not able to come to them). I explain I was sick and my immune system wiped out my illness and my legs but I have since been completely released and relearned to walk etc. She then says because I cannot tell her EXACTLY what was wrong with me that she needs my doctor to write her a release because my mouth has bacteria and it could affect my whole body. Again, I am no longer even seeing that doctor and am not even medicated and it is Providence...I will not be able to just call him. But nope, she and the assistant insist I stay because I was just going to leave, sleep off some of the pain and thought maybe they would give me a release to send to my Dr. Nope, 3 1/2 hours I spent calling and rearranging my entire schedule in between harassing Providence who kept saying different things. Honestly dealing with something like this while in epic pain...my patience and niceness went out the window. Then my knee started giving out trying to stand and then sit in this chair and that chair...again 3 1/2 hours. The assistant offered me tea and coffee like three times which was nice and all but I told her I drink neither after her first ask. Both her and the dentist would take turns asking if I got it solved yet and then explaining in an increasingly demeaning manner that they were just trying to protect my health. Suddenly they both came in demanding the room saying I need to go because they have another patient....I had been wanting to go from the start. So, I come to reception and am told that they could have just sent my Dr a release which is far easier and faster...JAW DROP. At least she apologized saying that she wished they had let the front area handle this instead of making me suffer. She did the release and called a few hours later to set up another appointment saying they could get me in the next day. So I call back to be first put on hold...then told they could get me in over a week later!???!??!?!??!?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? When I told the lady I was left a message saying I was offered a next day appointment she said my dentist does not work that day and has limited availability etc etc...I asked for another dentist and reminded her I have a broken tooth and am in substantial pain. She puts me on hold AGAIN...after minutes a completely different person answers and is asking how she can help...ummm, seriously? Apparently the prior person told whoever this was that I asked specifically to speak to her...ummm...well, that depends - can YOU get me an appointment before a week from now? Two days out - better than nothing. I go in and apparently I now get the, "You are not allowed to be in pain" treatment since they gave me the most hostile dental assistant ever. Seriously, this guy spoke like three words to me mostly grunting at me to do things...just wow. Dentist tried to be a touch friendlier until she starting stabbing me with Novocaine...HOLY F! FYI - when you fast administer it stings like a mother till you are numb. Thank goodness you are numb in seconds. I have a high tolerance to pain and spent the better part of last year as a pin cushion but I think I got to pay the pain price for being snippy with her - again, sorry if I AM IN PAIN!!!! She also took the tooth out pretty violently. I am glad its done and I am also glad I know which dentist to never see again - scary that she is their Senior Dentist (according to their business card pile at the front). The lovely lady up front was a dream setting up my next appointment - and thankfully understands hand signals. And that's just it...I want to go back and tell you I DO love this office NORMALLY... I have never been treated this horribly by any of their staff so I am still pretty shocked. read more

I hate going to the dentist, & ALL my experiences with dental office was unpleasant. Today was my first time at Willamette Dental (Beaverton) and immediately I was assisted by an amazing operator (Veronica) got me scheduled right away! When I checked in, the front staff was very fun and friendly and before I can even take a sit, they already called my name! Special shout out to ISRAEL, he is a very knowledgeable hygienist and explained to me clearly the plans for my dental care. He's fun to talk to and makes sure I am very comfortable knowing that I have bad experiences with dental offices. Dr Walters was very nice and kind! They don't lecture you, on how to take care of your teeth but teach you. I am beyond thankful! 10 stars! read more

Dr. Lieu is so gental and respectful of my unreasonably fearful feelings. Maria was the assistant today and she was so reassuring. The perfect blend of professional and personable. I am completely dissatisfied with this chain dental group. I called in January 2021 to have a shattered molar removed and was offered an appointment in late March. I arrived on time, and for 2 1/2 hours was subjected to everything Except removal of the tooth. All I was offered was another appointment in another 2 months. Stupidly, I signed up for reminders of future visits. Immediately my phone filled up with third party spam. When I try to call Dr Kelso's office I sit on hold an average of 16 minutes. There apparently is no direct number, you have to wait to be transferred. Since my dental insurance will lapse well before my scheduled appointment, which will be 5 months since I first called, I think I will find a more professional dentist. read more

The people are nice enough, (Lake Road location), but recently I went because of a discoloured tooth, which the dentist said was just stained, so he cleaned it up. Still, I thought how can just one tooth do that? Sure enough, it started coming back quite soon, so I went to my old dentist who made a new filling and said I really deeded a crown, and there are other teeth that need crowns. I wrote to Willamette Dental about this, and didn't even receive a reply. I have only had my teeth cleaned there a few times, nothing else, and so it seems to me the dentists are encouraged not to do work that should be doing, presumably to save money. I can't begin to express how awfully filthy the Dental rooms are. It's as if the clean up crew uses the same mop bucket and swashes all the gunk up onto the base of the Dental Chair base. What I visual witnessed and without exaggeration. Some sort of orange gooey substance stuck around the rim of the chairs base, black grime up on the base which reminded me of a well used barber shop chair rarely ever cleaned. My biggest complaint is that the Assistant was handling all the tools with her bare hands after spending a good quality of her time typing on the keyboard and handling other various things. Knowing those tools would be entering my mouth, I figured, who knows if those tools were even properly cleaned after being used on someone else. After seeing this, I had had enough and abruptly left. I've also had a previous problem with a male dentist (Hillsboro Office) who for no apparent reason, become very condescending, highly judgmental, and obnoxiously rude, and even told me that the way I sat back in the chair (my only response) and crossed my arms was a sign of aggression. If you yourself had been there to witness it, you would know without doubt, this guy was truly acting weird. I switched offices immediately after that and never once received and apology nor recognition for it, yet I decided to give it another go thinking perhaps it was just a rogue incident. The Beaverton Facility used to be well taken care of, but seems to have gone way down hill, in as much as thinking I was in some 3rd World Country or something. There won't be a third time, and truly sorry to say, no one in my household will ever make the mistake of coming back. read more

I was told that before i get a cleaning i need to get major work done $$$$. Until i get and pay hundreds of dollars for major work....they will not clean my teeth. Although more reasonably priced as compared to private practice dental care, I have not experienced optimal dental care at Willamette Dental. I have had good and sometimes okay functional dentistry there...never optimal. It is what it is.... For a long time, I had a kind and caring dentist there who is now retired. That is why I stayed. That was a while back. Upon reflection, I wish I had left earlier. I was told by my Willamette Dental dentist that they are functional dentists only. It appears that their delivery model is that they ration the work they will do for you over time and when you reach your dollar limit you are likely not getting more for a period of time unless it is an emergency. They do not perform restorative work with specific -other than very basic -cosmetic considerations in mind. They do not primarily care for your smile. I had many stained old anterior restorations that I was told could not be replaced or resurfaced because they were deemed functional. Since leaving to go to a more costly private practice dentist who addresses dental service priorities in terms of form and function, I have never been happier. I can smile again. read more

DO NOT go to this office! I scheduled an appt, soonest was 2 months. I went for a crown, only to get there and they say they'll do a cleaning. The hygienist literally scraped my teeth for less than 5 mins and told me to make another appt to finish the cleaning because they didn't have anymore time! Two appts for a cleaning! Basically wait another 2mos for me to go In for them to polish!! The doctor came in and rubbed something inside my mouth and sent me on my way. I've never written reviews but this is necessary!! I was seen in the 2 office years ago and still remember my horrible experience. After waiting for over 2 hours, numerous check-ins with the front desk, a dental hygienist came out and told me "oops- I forgot all about you! I've just been eating my lunch". After this horrific experience, I am now being charged $50 to transfer my X-rays to a competent dental office. NICE! I have been in this office a few times and every time, they have been beyond kind, understanding and very gentle.
