I've been meaning to write a review for Hillside for quite a while now. I've been a patient of Dr. Braxmeyer for (I think) 7-8 years. I work from home and Hillside is right down the street from me. My previous dentist had retired, so I chose Hillside initially based on close proximity to home. The nice thing about the office is that they'll print out a plan for the work to be done on your teeth (if you have lots of issues like I do)--in my case, this is a long-term plan over several years in order to coordinate my dental insurance and what I pay out of pocket. Fixing teeth is not cheap, no matter where you go! But I find Dr. B to be practical. She prioritizes the work, so I know what I need to get taken care of more urgently. She is professional but also friendly and receptive and has a good sense of humor. I always know she has my best interests at heart. Also, she is VERY patient when she applies the numbing agent (shot)--slow and steady. You may not think that matters so much, but I had a dentist a long time ago who shot me up so quickly and often didn't leave a lot of time for the solution to fully numb and inevitably would have to give me a second shot. I thought that was "normal" until I went to my prior dentist and to Dr. B. A dentist should not rush you through the drilling process, and I know Dr. B cares about my comfort and doing things right. Also, Sam is one of her dental assistants and is most often the one to work with me. Sam's my buddy and has a great personality and sense of humor. She, too, is very thorough and cares about doing things right. I used to need nitrous oxide before drillings with my prior dentists, but I don't need it anymore because this team puts me at ease and I know Dr. B is going to be gentle and take her time and drill carefully. The front office has endured a number of changes over the past couple years, but I haven't had any negative experiences. Up until this past spring, I had the same dental hygienist all these years, but there have been changes there, too, and I understand there's a serious shortage of dental hygienists everywhere, so it takes time to get the right people in place. That said, I've never had a bad experience with my cleanings. Overall, Hillside Dental has a good team of quality professionals and I'm pretty happy with my experience over the years. If you live anywhere in the neighborhood (or work nearby), Hillside is a great place to go. read more

I can't say enough good things about this dentist. I've been coming here for about 9 years and even continue to even after moving out of the area as the quality of service is so good. The staff are always friendly but professional and the dental work is the best I've ever had covering root canals, extractions, fillings and bridges. They even helped me with a dental implant and the work needed afterwards. I will always come back to this dentist no matter how far away I move as they are the best around...hands down read more

They are professional, and focus on the patient. With conservative care, on individual cavities. Keeping an eye on ones that may need extra work if not tended to in a preventative way. Excellent care, and professionalism. The only couple things I'd add, is that it can become pricey, as with many dentists. And, if you have to leave or consider going to another place, due to extenuating circumstance, such as moving away, it may get a little interesting. Just found a receptionist to be not quite as nice as she was throughout my whole experience there. And one hygienist seemed judgemental. But all were primarily easy to relate to, professional. Best dental care ever! Let me say that again: Best. Dental. Care. Ever!!! I had avoided going to the dentist for two years before coming here, out of fear of needing a bunch of tiny fillings due to my genetically strange teeth (thanks, dad!). I made an appointment here on a whim; the Yelp reviews were good so I was just hoping for a decent cleaning experience after putting it off for so long. The whole experience was awesome. Every single person who works here is sweet, but in a real way, not the cloying, fake sort that happens in a lot of other places. Linda was my hygienist and she was a hoot. I'm a bit of a jokester myself and her sense of humor was spot on and made my whole experience even better. I was legitimately sad when the cleaning was over, which nothing I have ever been able to say prior to my visit here. Since I first went to Hillside I have seen both dentists. Dr. Taylor is great, but I specifically loved seeing Dr. Braxmeyer. It was nice to have a lady dentist (for the first time in my life!), and she didn't practice doom and gloom dentistry like I experienced at the last place I went over in SE. However, she was also as thorough as I wanted and answered every question I had without being cold or impersonal; it was around Thanksgiving time and we both talked about our families and plans for the holiday. After two years of avoiding the dentist I turns out I only needed two small cavities filled. That was a relief in and of itself, but the appointment was also easy to schedule and the way they perform fillings is novel and awesome! They use some sort of dental.. something (I forget what they call it, rats) to keep all the extra water/debris/etc. out of your mouth while they're working on a tooth; it made the whole experience easier and better both on my end and theirs. Dr. Braxmeyer did my two fillings and I couldn't be happier with them. I've been back since for a cleaning and have another scheduled in November. Sadly I'm moving back across the country at the end of the year, otherwise I'd be going to Hillside for years to come. I've already recommended this place to every single person I know, including those who hate going to the dentist or don't really feel comfortable with the one they're at now, so I figured it was time to make the same case on Yelp for everyone to see. I've been coming here for 23+ years, and I don't know why I've never left a review! The team is amazing. It's weird, but I feel like I'm visiting friends whenever I go to the dentist -- that's just the kind of place this is! The dentists are knowledgeable, super smart, kind, and very down to earth. The staff is wonderful at putting me at ease, no matter what I'm in for, and again, they feel like friends. They are trustworthy, and I never dread my visits. Highly recommend! read more

You need to give at least one star or I would't. The dentists are crooks unfortunately, or maybe they shouldn't all be painted with that same brush. Hopefully they employ a couple ethical dentists.. I needed to fix a chipped tooth over christmas holidays - perfect person to exploit if you wanted to.. The dentist at hillside quoted me 380$ for the same service I had done the very next day at saanich dental for 180$. I am a young, uninsured woman, as the dentist at hillside dental was aware of. Luckily I looked for a second opinion as I can't afford to be hustled for 200$ at christmas time, by a dentist who surely is financially secure! Thanks Hillside! Hope you develop some ethics and standards. read more

I have been one of Dr. Taylor's patients for over 20 years, and in my file there is a picture of this little boy, standing there, proudly grinning from ear to ear after a cavity free checkup right alongside the 30 something adult version with the same grin. Kim is absolutely wonderful as are Linda and Mandy, and of course it just wouldn't be the same without Margo smiling at you as you walk in the door. And Dr. Braxmeyer recently filled a cavity (first one in a long time) for me that would make Dr. Taylor proud. Outstanding job! Love Dr. Elise Braxmeyer! Just had a cavity filled and it was the easiest one I have every had filled. She is so efficient and I trust her with any dental treatment she recommends. I just came from another dental office who told me I had 5 cavities to fill. 6 months ago there was only 1 to watch. I really don't believe in filling micro cavities as the other dental office wanted to do. great dental clinic... my hygienist is just awesome, very warm, caring and has never once made me feel any pain. everyone there is very welcoming and has a bright and happy attitude. the dentists are great (i have seen both) and are very direct, to the point and don't try to push anything on you. been to many different clinics and this is by the far the best. read more

Just became new patients here and am trying to get my whole family moved over here. It's a little hard to get in as a new patient but I have been really impressed with everything else. I have worked in the dental field so I have knowledge in the way things are done and have been more than happy with the treatments and their updated equipment. I am not a fan of going to the dentist (not many of those, huh?)....but going here has been a pleasure!! The staff is friendly, hygienists are gentle & caring and the Dr Braxmeyer is great! I always request Kim as my hygienist -- she is amazing!! My 4 yr old daughter loves going there too! My boys are also patients there...never a complaint from them! I have been to other dentists over the years who I felt were dishonest and uncaring....Hillside Dental is nothing like this. I was visiting my children in Beaverton and had a dental emergency recently. I contacted Hillside and was seen immediately. I had opportunity to meet both doctors. I was extremely impressed with not only the doctors but the entire staff. Everyone was so friendly and professional. Patients are greeted by name and seated promptly. The office is clean and cozy.
