Marrowstone Vineyards is one of those awesome places that feel distinctly PNW. The wines are fantastic (we lean towards reds but their whites are so good we go back and forth here). Bring a picnic lunch or dinner (they have light snacks for purchase) and enjoy the great wines and ambience no matter the weather or the season. Finally, and most importantly, every staff member is lovely and welcoming which makes us want to keep coming back.

    Sunny Sunday at Marristone Vineyards.

We love the atmosphere at the Marrowstone Vineyards! James the wine maker always makes himself available for questions and Taylor the manager is very knowledgeable about the wines, and boy are the wines good! The music on the weekends is always great. Lots of good music through September and beautiful views. My favorite place on the Peninsula!!!

    View from inside the winery.

The wine is great, the location gorgeous, James and Taylor are extraordinary, The music on summer weekends is always fantastic. Our happy place, what more ya gonna ask for. Asking for more is just an overstretch. Camping at Ft. Flagler, visiting Port Townsend, or surroundings, or just want a great place to go on a road trip. You just found it!

Sunny inside no matter how gray outside

This hidden gem is worth searching for, with the bonus of a beautiful drive to the winery. The tasting room, in a barn-styled building, is perfect for the setting, with local arts and crafts featured inside. There seems to be four seating areas; a small one where the wine is poured (not sure if you can actually taste there, inside a large room in the barn, sharing space with barrels of aging wine, a small outside patio, and a dick up a flight of stairs from the patio. The view from the two last locations is restful and beautiful, overlooking a vineyard and Admiralty Inlet. We had stopped by a take-out diner on our way, and the server at Morrowstone was very gracious in allowing us to bring our food out to the patio. We got wine to pair with our meal; the owner joined us for a bit, and as noted in other reviews, he was very friendly. So was our server, who was also very helpful as we selected some wines to taste (I have a few notes at the end on my personal take on the wines if you are interested). One last note, live music will be every Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, starting June 19th. We are already making plans to return to this great little winery. Wine Notes I tasted the following: Grenache Yakima Valley 2018 My favorite! Great fruit, smooth tannins, not too acidic, and easy to love. Cabernet Franc Yakima Valley 2018 A very nice single-varietal expression of this grape so often used for blending. Medium bodied with a medium finish, very enjoyable. Cabernet Sauvignon Yakima Valley 2018 Not a monster Cab, but it has a nice mouthfeel, decent acidity, with Cab flavors right up front. "Milo Red" Blend Yakima Valley 2018 This is a complex blend of flavors, with 47% Cab Sav, 24% Merlot, 24% Petite Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cab Franc. I really liked this wine, but I really wanted to love it. I think this has some real potential given some more time in the bottle; the server said she feels it will only continue to improve for the next 6 - 36 months. Syrah Naches Heights 2018 I tasted this before reading the supplied tasting notes, and was quite surprised by chocolate on the finish. Not what I'd expect from a Syrah! There was also just a trace of smoke at the end, from the wildfires in the area that year. Petite Syrah Yakima Valley 2018 I have mixed feelings about Washington Syrah. I have had some that blow my mind with the intensity of their flavor; this one is more nuanced. Once again, I think this one would benefit from being laid down awhile to develop. So, I'm just an average guy who likes red wines. My palate is mine and mine alone, so don't necessarily take my word on these wines - I encourage you to come out and visit this wonderful winery. You won't regret it!

    Best seat in the house!

First time here and all I can say is WOW! The service was unbeatable. Our party of 5 were given a full set of tastings each, and our pick of the patio or amazing outdoor seating. I really liked the tasting sheet they have us to write down our tasting notes. It was encouraging and enjoyable to play sommelier. The view was to die for! The sound, with ships passing by, with a vineyard in the foreground and a large grass field. We even witnessed a proposal! I think people can bring their own food and enjoy a glass of their amazing Marrowstone wine. We met the owner, James. Such a nice guy. Passionate about wine but in a very down to earth way. He was clearly a hard worker. They also have a wine club we signed up for right away and they had great discounts with that club. I cannot wait to take my mom out here. It is a great COVID safe day trip for anyone getting out of Seattle.

Absolutely love this winery! Such a great spot to have a glass (or a bottle) and enjoy the views! The wine is delicious, the staff are so friendly, and they allow pups! I highly recommend this winery.

Spring '19- available by the glass or bottle!

Viognier. Not sure what type of grapes they grow on the vineyard, as there was no readily available info or description of the wines on a menu or any of their pamphlets, but if you like a light white wine with lots of modest fruit flavors that is super smooth on the palate, choose the Viognier. Very good

Take the time and head over to this little boutique winery nestled on a beautiful island with Amazing views. Service is superb and wines are delicious! I really enjoyed the petit Syrah. Can't wait to go back! Especially since the bottle slipped from my hand when I got home

If you haven't been to Marrowstone... pack up and go

If you haven't been here, do yourself a favor and go. It's adorable and dog friendly. Me and my little sis stumbled across Marrowstone on our way home from a sisters weekend in Port Townsend. The wine maker and his staff were more than accommodating, and most importantly the wine was a and they loved our fur babies. We were so impressed, we joined the wine club and can't wait to return!

    Wow!

I noted this tasting room was close and could satisfy the cravings of both the cider loving husbands and their wino wives, so off we headed. It's a small little tasting room with a bar and some outside seating. We walked in on Saturday around 3 and there was noone in the tasting room or at the bar. We waited about 15 minutes before two people came in from the side door and were rather unfriendly in asking us what we wanted. We were a bit put off but already there so we tried a cider and wine tasting. Our cider loving husbands were fans of the raspberry cider but neither of us cared for any of the red wine we sampled. The pourer was saying she takes them home as cooking wine, but a wine that's only good for cooking with wasn't exactly what we were looking for. The tastings were reasonably priced and apparently the raspberry cider was memorable, but other than that it was a bit average overall.

My wife and I each had two ciders, a mead, and a wine. The ciders were the best of their offerings, and I particularly liked their berry and hot pepper blend. The mead was, frankly, quite disappointing. The wine was just okay. We did have a little sticker shock: the four tastings were served in shot glasses (at most half full) for $15 pp.

It's easy to drive right past (and we did the first time), but we found the small turn up the driveway coming back the other way. They have the signage out there, we just needed to slow down and get on island time. Cute place with an aviation theme based on the owner's work as a fighter pilot. Thanks for your service. The lady working the tasting area was very kind, but not very knowledgeable about their offerings, nor was she able to steer us in any direction based on our preferred taste profiles. She loved the wines at HHC, which is honorable, but not incredibly helpful. All the wines available for the tastings this Sunday were ok, but their big reds were not part of it. She said they weren't able to open any for tasting since the weekend was over, which is too bad. Other wineries like Wedge Mountain do this same thing, which I fail to understand. We stated we like big reds and are members of two other wineries on the island. Seems to me worth taking a chance on a customer that makes a jaunt a couple times a year and spends money on club wines, expressing a desire for what the winery has dubbed their flagship offerings. The pods and outdoor heaters are very nice, the grounds are attractive, we just didn't care for the lighter reds, blends, and whites we were offered. We did buy a bottle of one decent blend at full price, and they didn't comp or reduce the price of even one tasting. Fine, if that's the policy, but it won't bring us back.
