This place is great! It's a neighborhood bar with some fun space-themed decor and really good food. I've had my eye on it for a while, but it was too cold to walk over. We took advantage of the warm weekend and went in for dinner. I'll certainly be back. it's super laid back in there. Half bar, half restaurant. Seat yourself. The service was fast and friendly, and we both really enjoyed our food. My friend and I both chose off of the burger menu, and subbed grilled chicken for the burger patties. It was my first time here, and I am absolutely coming back! The bar is split into two sections; the bar + the restaurant. There are several vegetarian, gluten-free, and kids' options. I got the spinach panini and rosemary truffle fries. My panini was so good! My bread was perfectly toasted, yet soft at the same time. And those fries were YUM! I've been here three times in past six months and I just have to say that their truffle rosemary fries are so freaking delicious. The first two times I went to Mars Bar, my husband and I ordered drinks and split the ginormous order of fries and were deeply satisfied. During my most recent visit, we came with friends and all ordered meals. Everyone was happy. The service was quite slow but that is to be expected with the state of things right now. Regardless, our server was friendly and although she didn't write anything down, somehow managed to remember everyone's orders correctly. It was a Huge gyro and large portion of fries. My to go order Gyro $11 was half the size & small portion of fries $2 adder for fries. Way overpriced Beef $6 and Pork. $5 kabobs were small and way over grilled. So much for good filet mignon beef kabob. Ordered My Dip $7 hummus which came in a little 4 oz container and one pita. Way overpriced. Hummus was very flavorless needed salt and perhaps some lemon. Online menu prices are old everything is a $1 or so more. The food was excellent however the salad did not come with any type of oil or dressing, I suggest you ask for it as it does not come automatically. Theres no real theme to the place it just seems to be a building that was once two other places and they just threw tables and chairs in and started serving people as a restraunt. Finally made it to the old Lakewood favorite Mars Bar this weekend and glad we did! Always known for gyros, their kitchen has upped the ante recently and also features homemade apps, inventive salads, TJ Butcher Block burgers, pressed sandwiches and more. But when in Rome....and wow, the gyros were as advertised. The chicken gyro featured a lemony mayo, and the traditional was served mezze style large enough for two. Delicious! You can add County Fair style fries for cheap. In fact, the entire menu is 2023 affordable for the quality, considering the capitalist price gouges of so many others. The place is not glam by any stretch but clean, and service was friendly and efficient despite a very crowded atmosphere. Further proof that Lakewood is King for quality casual eats. This is our absolute favorite spot!!! The Mideteranian food would be great, if they grilled the pita. Time after time, we have visited Mars Bar without disappointed, until our latest visit. The owner has been very pleasant, and the wait staff very accommodating. This is a tough one to rate. Sliding scale when it comes to dive bars. Just because a review gets 5 stars, doesn't make the joint Pier W. Needless to say, the Mars Bar doesn't get 5 stars, but I will give it 4. Walked right in and sat down at the bar. Bartender was very nice and had a couple of nice craft brews in front of Jessica and I in no time. We asked for 'a menu' and got 'a menu'. I think they only have one in the store! Not that you need more than one. Gyros and stuff that goes in a fryer is all that's on it. So that's what we got, a gyros, fries and fried zucchini strips. And here's my take: 5 stars for effort, 5 stars for quantity of food, 3 stars for quality. The gyros was huge, but everything had a 'crunch' to it. Pita was crispy, meat was crispy, sauce, tomato and red onions were ok, but sparse compared to the amount of meat. Fries were very good. Hit my noggin on the ceiling on the way out. I found this lovely little bar and grill when I was looking for a late night place for a snack. Now we are regulars. The food is amazing. The service is impeccable. It's a very chill, divey, sports bar. My favorite item on the menu is the beef kabobs. The most delectable, tender pieces of steak. They have a wonderful Sauvignon Blanc. I wish I could focus this review on the great food I ate at Mars bar but cannot due to the horrendous experience I witnessed. I'm not usually one to publicly share my grievances but feel obligated to make it known that the manager allowed patrons in their establishment to very loudly mock and impersonate autistic individuals. This group was rating other individuals on the "autistic scale" from 1-10, waiving their arms errantly accompanied with labored noises, and spent the rest of their time loudly denying the validity of autism, claiming it was a social construct. I brought the disturbance to the attention of the staff multiple times with zero action taken against the group of "regulars." I understand things happen in public establishments but the lack humanism I experienced at Mars bars was disgusting. I was told by management there was nothing they could do unless they saw it, meanwhile completely ignoring the clear discomfort on the patrons faces overhearing the hate speech. I may have been the only one to speak up but I'm beyond certain I was not the only table uncomfortable being subjected to such crude behavior while trying to enjoy a Friday afternoon. Thank you to the servers who did their best to advocate. Absolute shame on ownership and upper management. Mars bar's prioritization of these regulars tell me one thing. They do not care about your safety and they do not deserve your money. read more

I've been here a couple time now, recently. I took my two sons on Monday night. We all loved it. They are very strict with social distancing rules, so you should feel comfortable. Got the Space Balls. They threw in a couple extra because of my boys being big eaters. My middle son and I both got the gyro and youngest, the burger. Both fabulous. We sat outside and took in Lakewood on a great summer evening watching the traffic up and down Madison. What more could a father ask for other than having his oldest son join the three of them. Unfortunately he live in Cincinnati now. Okay, here is why it's five stars, the service. We sat outside but the guy (bald) behind the bar served us. I've never had a better server. This guy rocked! I came here around 5 pm with my girlfriend for a quick bite. It was pretty empty around that time. We ended up sitting at the bar to the far left. I loved how the light came through and hit the bartop. My girlfriend and I were having a rough day, but we had a really nice time catching up and talking about life. The ambience was nice and calm. The food was the cherry on top. I got the lamb and beef gyro mezze style (open face, more protein) and she got the truffle fries. Everything was so delicious.
