Lunch here was delicious on a beautiful October day. We came because outside seating is available, and they are very Covid conscious. The tables on a front deck faced Main Street. We had a pleasant view of the courthouse, a church, and a war statue. Delightful! The service was professional and attentive. Servers wore masks. I had the Carolina Barbecue Pulled Pork Quesadilla with house-made fresh pico. I liked the mustardy flavor of the Carolina pork, and there was plenty of flavorful, tangy sauce on the pork. The pork was tender which was critical. It was served in a fresh wrap. My husband started with a bowl of Seafood Chowder which he rated exceptionally delicious. It was chunky enough in a very flavorful creamy base. He ordered the Burger on a Brioche Roll, and he said it was excellent! He enjoyed every bite. The caramelized onions ($2.00 extra), sautéed mushrooms, and cheddar added nuanced layers of flavor. Even the fries were good because they were hand cut. Marsh Tavern is old school classy, so the plentiful napkins were off course white cloth. The rest room was immaculate! HISTORY--Built in 1769, the fabled Marsh Tavern has been a favorite gathering place for both locals and distinguished visitors, including a long list of U.S. presidents. Marsh Tavern is housed inside part of the original historic Equinox structure and offers seasonal New England dining for lunch and dinner. Choose from classic pub favorites and shared plates for the table.

Enjoyed a nice lunch outside. We both got salads with chicken on them & they were very good & a great-sized portion. I enjoyed some wine with it & it was a lovely atmosphere. Service wasn't that great which is why I am giving this place 3 stars & not 4. I would definitely try it again; I just think they need to amp up their game in the service department.

This place has become a disaster. On an earlier post I mentioned the pet fee is $130 per day. I'm reality it's $130 per stay. So we went. 4:00 check in became 7:15. Almost missed dinner. Next day same thing. So dinner. Every restaurant is closed Monday so let's get takeout from the marsh tavern. I had a reservation at the marsh tavern but I received duck pot pie with no duck peas or carrots. 9:29 restaurant is still filled. Bar closed and won't serve the remainder of the guests outside

Sit by the wonderfully cozy fireplace In the creamy leather high-back chairs if you can! Warm, elegant yet casual, upscale but not pretentious. We had the charcuterie- good variety but on the smaller side, baked Brie w apple butter, and the leek & potatoe bisque. Everything was good, not super tasty but just right for a casual Saterday afternoon of shopping in the brisk air. Excellent spicy Bloody Mary's & hot cider w spiced rum- perfect! Excellent service- the perfect combination of congegenial & conscientious.

I would never have described this place as a tavern. It was definitely as good as everyone suggested it would be! The place is full of history as indicated by the past visitors dotted over the backs of the menus. Our host told us 11 presidents had been there over the years as well as some of the unique history to the place (and I quote ... "this place is haunted as hell"). As for the food, oh man. There was the normal pub menu that about half our party ordered from, as well as an extended normal menu with starters and entrees. I had the venison loin which was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth, over a bed of sweet potato mash. We even packed our already full stomachs with the slew of deserts offered up. Our server John was funny and inquisitive about our trip up to Vermont. The servers kept our glasses topped off, and the atmosphere was pheonomenal. We sat at a table for 8 near a roaring fire place that kept us warm on the outside while the beer and wine did the same on the inside. If you are in Manchester, you have to visit the Equinox.

    Clam bellies!

Great meal! Starting with a box of breads, jams and butter is an excellent way to start the meal. Cocktails were great. Ordered the special: clam bellies! Delicious and generous portions. Charcuterie board was fantastic. Good options and portion sizes. Italian honey was amazing. Everything complimented each other wonderfully! Only note was the chicken was a bit dry but we still ate the whole plate.

Bread varieties served with an excellent hot pepper jelly that they fortunately sell in their gift shop!

The Veal was ok but seemed like it could of have been previously frozen. Not to mention, these two entrees alone cost us ~$80. The appetizers were far better than the entrees. We honestly could of ordered wings and French onion soup and that would have been a better option. The salad was the best thing they served us. And no, not any of the salads on the menu, the complimentary salad that is served by the restaurant. Service - There was one waiter for the entire restaurant. He was really nice and seemed like a good guy, but they probably need to give him some help. We didn't get our drinks until about 30 mins into being at the restaurant and the entrees took over an hour to show up. The two stars here are for our servers positive and friendly attitude. Final Summary Notes - DO NOT come here for a nice dinner on any given weekend or evening. Only come here for appetizers and drinks and only sit at the bar.

A lot of sports memorabilia and live sports on tv. It did get a bit loud since it was pretty packed but not a problem for two people at a small table. They had a hugeee beer tap list taking up two full pages on their drink menu! It was awesome to enjoy some new beers from local breweries we hadn't tried just yet. We will be back!

Mainly attributable to SERVICE which was HORRIFYING!! Ambiance was charming home setting outdoors and rustic wood vibe indoors. The food was average/iffy. Garlic peppercorn steak was encrusted with a layer of seasoning and yet it wasn't that seasoned in terms of flavor, was just ok. Ordered medium and yet it looked black on the outside and medium rare inside and beyond tough - I could not even cut the steak, I ended up just ended eating the whole thing straight up. So strange and not worth $30 at all. The Idaho skins were good just wish the potatoes were crispier. The signature applewood smoked wings were so overpriced and terrible. I could not taste any flavor, it tasted like boiled wings expensive 6 for $18. The worst part: service, or rather lack thereof.!! Upon entering, we waited awhile for someone to come greet and seat us and seemed to judge us when we clarifying what tavern was when we were asked if we wanted tavern or dining room. We were seated and took a LONG time until finally our server came to take our order. Then took an even longer time to get our food almost 20minutes. The other table that got seated after us the order the same wings at the same time, got their food 10 minutes earlier than us and their server was present throughout the meal . Ours just was nowhere to be seen throughout the entire time. Finally the food came, we ate quick, and asked for the check. We couldn't even find our server to get the check! The other table has already gotten the check and signing the bill. We then got up and tried to flag down our waiter to for the check and takeout box and after a long time she gave them but disappeared again for a long time so we tried to flag her down, again, so we could actually pay. When we did, she rudely said "do you see the things im carrying? can you wait?" Mind you, we have been waiting for nearly another 20 minutes after we finished eating for any appearance from the waiter. We tried asking the other waiter who was actually present if we could but said we needed to get our actual server. We finally finished the whole transaction (20min waiting for food, 20min spent flagging down the waiter for the check/giving the money), and frustrated we wasted so much time here while on a trip for just OK food, we just left because the server then disappeared AGAIN after settling our bill. Hilariously enough, the only time she seemed to care about us was when we left and she went RUNNING after us to ask us "you did not tip enough, did I do something wrong?" in a rude and fake overly concerned way. After we briefly explained, she proceeds to loudly shame us saying "you supposed to tip me xyz because I provide you a service and if not you're really disrespectful". The audacity. Service was beyond horrible!!! and still demanding higher tips calling customers disrespectful when we did nothing but wait and get yelled at by her for not waiting even longer and still needing to directly pay her extra tips. During that scolding we got, we saw her name tag: Avery. Overall: Foods ok. LONG WAIT for food and check. Horrifying service by one server: Avery. Perhaps other servers were better like the one who took care of the table who sat down at the same time and left 20 minutes earlier meanwhile our service was way slower, not as friendly, demanding tips, and public scolds/shames customers for it. This experience totally soured my impression of this place and now I'm questioning why people even recommended this place to me and why I went along with it!

For breakfast we enjoyed a bagel with lox, the breakfast sandwich and the eggs Benedict which we would order all again (in fact we did haha).
