I wanted to love this place, because it was literally the only option available when we were staying mid-week. Everything in the village was closed, nothing else around and door dash type deliveries not available. Unfortunately it wasn't a great experience. We had a friendly but non attentive server who didn't even mention specials to us, which we only found out midway through our meal when a neighboring table received lobster ravioli which was definitely not on the menu. The menu was odd, with it mostly being pasta dishes and a handful of other options. I noticed there weren't any gluten free options except maybe one thing, in case that's of use to anyone requiring a GF diet. The food was average at best and wildly overpriced for what it was. It lacked atmosphere and felt like a standard ski lodge where you leave your gear for the day, and in no way attempted to resemble a more up scale dining experience. After a long day up in Stratton Mt. I needed to grab some dinner and decided I'd make it easy and dine at Table 43.1 after taking a peek at their menu. Plus I was staying at the lodge where it's located. They had some good sounding Italian selections and I do enjoy some good Italian food so I figured why not? I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana which comes with Vodka sauce and Linguine. It was delicious! Just a little spicy for me but definitely hit the spot. Matter of fact I was so hungry that I forgot to take pictures of my meal! Service was great. Very accommodating staff. As far as noise levels it was pretty calm. Few people here and there dining and enjoying their meals. They also have a nice fireplace which is super cool! Keeps the spot nice and cozy. So there you have it folks. Kale was our server(and the bartender) and she was one of the best servers I've ever had! We went there two nights, we asked her to surprise us with the mule flavors, and she remembered what she had given us the night prior! She makes some of the most week-balanced cocktails I've had in my life, and her attention to detail is phenomenal. The spot is casual, cozy, but so so delicious. I have eaten here in the past and it was fine, but my most recent trip was excellent. The restaurant seems to be under new leadership. The menu is great, service exceptional, and food was perfect. I ordered the strip steak and asked for it to be cooked a very particular way. I rarely order steak at a restaurant unless I know for sure it will be great, but I took a chance this time based on the recommendation of the server. The steak was prepared exactly as I asked it to be. But on top of that, the meat was really special. A strip steak is usually a little on the tougher side compared with a ribeye and filet, but this one had the texture of a filet and the taste of a strip. It was also prepared in a way that indicates they are doing something special behind the curtain. They have a flame grill but there was a crust on my steak that indicated they were doing something more than simply grilling it. Maybe it was a butter bath, or the seasoning, but whatever they did it was amazing. It was also a very clean piece of meat, no chewy bits, the fat was trimmed, and it just looked beautiful on the plate. I wish I had taken a photo. Overall, a great experience. read more

My girls and I decided to eat dinner out on our first night in Stratton. We had received a coupon for free appetizers so that helped us decide on this restaurant. As soon as you walk into Black Bear Lodge there is a very strong smell of chlorine but that's due to the indoor pool in the lodge. The smell does not carry into the restaurant. My girls ordered the pasta dishes, the black ash and the bolognese which were both delicious. I ordered the buffalo wings and they were perfectly cooked with a nice crisp and tanginess. I thought that it was odd that they brought out wings and celery but no blue cheese dressing. The waitress did bring it out right away. I know that this restaurant got mixed reviews but we had a great experience and I am happy that we had received the coupon to try them out. read more

A great option for families. Right in the lobby of Black Bear Lodge, its very convenient and the food is wonderful. They do delivery for the rooms and around the base of the mountain. The new chef has really improved the menu, and is friendly with the guests when dining in.Been here twice during Covid and had a great meal both times. read more

Don't recommend eating here - restaurant was serving a buffet tonight and masks were not enforced. Families with children were all over the communal food trays - some children even serving with their hands. We informed the staff and nothing was done about it. We quickly paid, left, and let Black Bear hotel staff know, only to be told there's nothing that can be done about it. Four of us showed up on Saturday night to a half-empty restaurant and no line at the hostess station. Place smelled like a chlorine-drenched waterpark and was so dated it looked like a scene from the Rockford Files. Hostess greeted us, then proceeded to walk around the restaurant straightening chairs and tables with staff, ignoring us for 15 minutes. We sat, were ignored for another 15 minutes, ordered drinks (pretty good), then decided to temper the possibility of further disappointment by sharing an app and 2 entrees. The duck poutine app was a disgusting mush, plopped on a pate with zero regard for presentation by some pissed off "chef" who apparently hates food, life, or was having a bad night. Yeah, presenting poutine is akin to putting lipstick on a pig, but the utter disregard for presentation in this instance was incredible. Soggy, drowning in salt. Looked like my dog had thrown up on a plate. We pulled a few fries from the bottom of this pig-pile and pushed it aside. Our two giros arrived in similar fashion, beached on a barren plate, wrapped in foil, accompanied by limp fries, both filled with indifference and utter resentment toward any human being stupid enough to order them. Instead of overflowing with meat and veggies (or flavor), our giros looked like they were the unlucky recipients of someone else's leftovers from another day ... dry, flavorless, and sad. Wildly overpriced, clueless staff, dated decor, and quality of food better suited to a prison commissary. The fact we didn't leave without paying is a miracle in and of itself. What a dump. We shot over to Bar 802 and Village Pie to drown our own sadness in awesome drinks, friendly staff, and killer pizza. Save your cash and park yourself over there. Great restaurant! Carly was an excelllent, fun waitress. The pasta bolognese ($21), carnitas tacos ($14 or so) and grilled romaine salad with chicken ($19) were all very good. Formerly Bentley's at The Black Bear Lodge (formerly Stratton Mountain Inn). Being a local and not one to hit touristy dining spots, I was leery and didn't expect much. Had a Gift Certificate and went with some friends. The interior was tastefully redone and atmosphere was warm and inviting. The menu offered a great variety of food from burgers to a fine dinner selection. I had the short ribs which were prepared boneless and served over the most delicious vegetable purée which I couldn't get enough off. Not fatty and perfectly cooked. We also shared the mussels and I must admit they were probably the best I ever had. Served in with a sausage base that was out if this world. I only give it four stars because of the location and the bar needs to be bigger and not stuffed in the back corner. It looks like an after thought or a service station for waitstaff. It could be a HUGE draw with the food you serve and you are missing out on a great opportunity. The chef should be commended. Superb food and interesting menu. Honestly, I have nothing but good things to report after my dinner last week. The menu has a variety of dishes, everything from corn dogs to lobster Mac-n-Cheese! I enjoyed the short ribs which were perfectly cooked accompanied by the best mashed potatoes EVER and broccolini. I can vouch for the Lobster Mac-n-Cheese because thankfully my friend ordered it allowing me to taste this heavenly dish. Oh and I can't forget the crab cakes which began the meal as our appetizer...spot on. It was an unanimous thumbs up by the whole table. Something really neat about this place is the rotating menu. Came to Table 43.1 for dinner on the weekday. The place was almost empty. The decor is nice. The fireplace was on and made the big space cozy. The menu is very interesting. We were not too hungry, so four of us got just a few starters and were planning to decide on the entries later. We ordered the Duck Wings (with the Maple BBQ sauce), Poutine, and the Mediterranean Street Fries. Well, the portions were huge! The wings were crispy and flavorful. Poutine was very tasty and filling and had lots of short rib meat in it. The sweet potato fries dish had an interesting combination of flavors and textures. Basically, we were full just after the appetizers. We ordered one entry anyway - Fried Chicken southern style. It was pretty good. We decided to finish the meal sharing a bit of ice cream. So we ordered one sundae and 4 spoons. Well, the bowl was enormous - 4 scoops! The local ice cream was very good and it was topped with salted caramel and chocolate sauces and candied nuts. Heard some mixed reviews about this place...decided to give it a try anyway. Sadly I understand the low reviews now. At first the restaurant seemed fine we got our drinks and appetizer relatively fast except for an apple cider that we asked for maybe 3 times before we received it. After finishing our appetizer a different server tried to bring us another plate of the same thing which was confusing. Then our server let us know that the kitchen was having some problems and offered us bread to hold us over. Fast forward about an hour and 30 minutes and we still had not received our food...not only that but our server never came back to check on us. Once again someone else tried to bring food over to us but realized he was at the wrong table. The final straw was we saw others receive food who came after us and we decided to pay for the drinks and leave.
