I just recently bought a boat that was already at Marshall Ford Marina, I not familiar with dry dock storage or ever thought about it. I was very impressed how easy it is just to text and have my boat in the water. The staff is great, extremely accommodating and helpful. Anytime I need to work on my boat, the service dock is available. They sell batteries and ice, just in case you need it. They also have a storage unit with tools and accessories if needed. Yes, I am writing a yet another review because the unethical behavior of not only the Manager, but the Owner as well, is appalling and really just unbelievable. The purpose of my reviews and contacting the BBB was to make the public aware of the way MFM choses to do business and how poorly they treat their 'customers' & their property. I have NEVER asked for financial reimbursement from Marshall Ford Marina except for one time, in the amount of $184. This was due to the fact that my paddle wheel was getting damaged after each launch and at that point, I had spent about $1,000 fixing it and did not feel that i should be responsible for paying to have it fixed once again. I even spent an additional $320 for a GPS speed reader so that I could do away with having the use the paddle wheel altogether. I submitted the same previous review that I submitted on YELP to BBB.org - for no other purpose than to educate and warn the public of this highly unethical operation. Again, I had no intention of seeking financial compensation from MFM. The Owner, Marcel, responded not with an apology, but rather claimed I was reimbursed $1,210 - which is a flat out LIE. Only $185 of that was requested of me. $50 of this 'reimbursement' was offered to me to make up for their screw ups, ie: not fueling the boat as requested before launching it and almost leaving my stranded in the lake. The other $130 wasn't requested either, but was given in the form of "1/2 month of storage fees" after Todd forcefully kicked me out of the marina with 8 hours notice... after I had already paid the entire month of April. They 'reimbursed' me a total of roughly $365, and I have all the bank records to show this. But they went so far as to falsify financial documents to make it look like I was given THREE free months of storage in Aug, Sept & Oct of 2019.. during a time which I had not been complaining to them about my repair bills. Last I checked, it is a crime to falsify financial documents. I did not request any reimbursement until Feb of 2020. The paddle wheel repair costs around $185.. so what legit company would actually give a total of $780 in free storages for repairs that would not add up to that amount? Especially when it is not requested by the customer? Very odd. They even went so far as so claim they paid my mechanic, Noack directly, "retail pricing" for my repairs! He confirmed that he has never received payment for repairs on my boat or for anyone else's from MFM. Also, Marcel accused me of harassing his staff. Not true at all. I had one firm conversation with Jessica expressing my dissatisfaction of Todd's gross misconduct, rude attitude, damage to my property, and his way of dealing with issues. Very understandable considering all the BS I have put up from them over the years. I was very clear that I was in no way blaming Jessica as she has always been courteous and helpful to me, and let her know my dissatisfaction was in Todd's terrible way of dealing with his customers. AVOID this place at all costs! I thought I was getting a good deal at $250/month when first signing up, but in the end I was left with a TON of repair fees, weeks of lost time on my boat, and constantly having to deal with a boat that did not perform optimally.. as well as being treated like absolute sh*t by the Manager & Owner. Honestly, a simple APOLOGY could have avoided all of these negative reviews. I have never in my life been treated so horribly by a business. If you need a storage place that will actually care for your property, go to Emerald Point Marina. You will pay a little bit more monthly, but their storage is climate controlled so you won't have to winterize. They also give you a parking pass, 10% off gas, 10% off at the restaurant and 10% Platinum Marina service. Better yet, they will treat you like a human being. BTW during all of this back and forth, I had a Billy R. (current leaseholder with MFM) reach out to me via facebook after he saw my Yelp review. He showed me photos of his boat that was damaged by MFM (see attached). Of course, they tried to blame him for the damage.. but he noted the damage right after a foreclosed boat was moved next to his. Then, weeks later, after MFM put his boat back into the water after a refuel, it SANK. Of course, this was blamed on him as well. I don't know how anyone could continue to give MFM business if you consider: Stuart Mason's BBB review, Billy's sunken boat, my drama saga, Beverly Lee's Facebook review, and the numerous others who have had to deal with property damage and Todd's disrespectful attitude. I hope this review makes you reconsider your storage options. I will not be silent about this until MFM comes clean and starts being HONEST to their customers and the public. I had a friend who had a sail boat and then a power boat in the dry stack at this marina. David raved about it for over 20 years and was always promoting me to move my boat here. I have been there a number of times over this period with my friend by both land and by water. Today we interacted again with this marina and specifically with Jessica K. What a fantastic person Jessica is. Both she and this marina are most helpful. A very positive experience! These are good people with high integrity and I highly recommend! read more

I've had my Catalina 27 docked (not stacked) at Marshall Ford for several years now, and have been quite happy. So, here are the high points IMO: Like Jim in the first review, I particularly like the management - Todd Kahler is the manager there, and he always seems to be nice, available and helpful. He's a great asset to the marina. After speaking at length with Todd, I stopped looking for a new marina and signed up. A friendly/available/helpful marina manager is one of my #1 considerations. They did surprisingly well in keeping operations going during the drought. Even during the lowest lake levels, we always had "direct access" to docks (i.e. didn't need to get shuttled to the docks on a boat). At a certain point, the walk from top-of-marina to the foot of the docks became a real burden (especially the trip up if you were carrying a lot of gear). The management invested in what could \ be described as an oversize 4 passenger 4 wheel drive golf cart to haul people and gear up and down from parking lot to lake-level. I give the marina team a lot of credit for doing the very best possible during terrible conditions. I probably would have canceled by agreement/sold the boat had it not been for Todd and his team's semi-heroic efforts to keep the marina going. The location is superb. IMO the best and most convenient location if you live in N/NW Austin. So easy to get to, and you're in the best part of Lake Travis within 60 seconds after casting off. The pricing is very reasonable. I can't complain about that at all. It's not a luxurious marina, but it's functional, well-maintained. I like being able to buy gas at the dock. My sailboat burns through maybe 10 gallons of gas a year, but it beats having to lug gas down all those stairs. There is adequate power available for every boat. They typically keep a big trash bin down at dock level (which I'm often grateful for), and a full-sized dumpster in the parking lot (which is also great). The marina office always stocks cold water and soda in a fridge for $1 each on the "honor system". Doesn't seem like a big deal - but when it's 110 degrees out and you've been working on the boat (or out on the water) all day, and are pretty dehydrated.... Here are the "Neutral points" I wish the "dock reconfigurations" could happen faster when the lake undergoes significant level changes (as you can't access your boat for a few days while they are moving all the docks), but I know it's a pretty big operation to move all those docks as the lake level changes. I sure wish they would run water out to the docks so you can rinse all the dust and bird poo out of the cockpit and off the topsides. I ended up buying a cheap submergible pump and a 10' hose. But that's a bit of a PITA. There are bathroom facilities (which is great) including a shower (after spending 8 hours in killer heat taking apart your elderly Atomic-4 inboard, ANY kind of shower facility is like a gift from heaven - and they do air condition the bathroom), but the facilities are awfully rudimentary. And you wouldn't want to use the shower unless you're really pretty desperate. Not crazy about: The parking. There's plenty of it. But it's a bit of a hike down a couple of stairways before you even get to the big stairway that goes down to the lake. If you're carrying a lot of gear, it's a bother. Things that concern me: I wish the "break wall" that protects the marina from severe storms (the kind that happen only every few years or less) was bigger. This is less of an issue when the lake level is high, but when the lake was at 620 feet, a lot of the boats on the outer docks seemed exposed. Even with the lake level moving back towards historical averages, owners of boats on the outer docks would be well served by investing an extra $150 in high quality dock lines AND at least 2 spring lines...and using them. After seeing what 60 MPH winds did a couple of years ago to some of the boats that were only loosely tied up with flimsy dock lines, I upgraded my cleats and lines - fore, aft and spring. Lack of security - there's no locking gate or anything like that. After the marina office closes, anyone can (and does) use the docks. There is no security for the boats, so keeping anything of value in a boat is a risky proposition. A "no trespassing sign" just doesn't cut it. read more

Marshall Ford came in second on our list for finding the right marina for out boat. Parking is really tight, but the management is really helpful and nice. Their prices are reasonable, but the dry stack storage just does not seem sturdy to me. Can those boats actually produce enough weigh on their wooden slip plate to create a collapse? I did not want to take a chance. Maybe it was just my nervousness, but the manager suggested I try Emerald Point Marina, which I did. And I chose them over Marshall Ford. Sorry! read more

Todd and MFM always take great care of us! We live on Lake Travis and have needed their services multiple times. Todd has been "Johnny on the spot" each time. If you a great place to store your boat or a mechanic on the lake, MFM is the one to call!! read more

Love this Marina! Extremely helpful and expert staff willing to go the extra mile to meet all of your boating needs. This marina had quick service for refueling and refreshments. Air conditioned bathrooms were available near the marina office. The marina is fully accessible now with all of the rain that has reached the lake. I was very happy with my experience here and will be making an effort to come back! read more
