We rented from Lakeway Marina for the first time on August 9, 2025, and had an excellent experience. The staff thoroughly explained how to operate the boat, anchor, and navigate the lake, which is why we chose to return for Fourth of July weekend. Unfortunately, the difference in service was night and day. At check-in, despite having reserved and paid months in advance, we were asked not only for our reservation confirmation but also for my fiancé's bank transaction to prove payment because of the marina's history of fraudulent reservations. As returning customers, being asked to provide our personal banking information to verify a reservation was both unnecessary and wildly unprofessional. Once on the lake, we had difficulty anchoring and called for assistance. We followed the instructions we were given, but the anchor detached completely from the rope. We returned to the marina and were charged for a replacement anchor. Later, when it was time to leave, the replacement anchor became stuck. Even after two nearby boaters swam over to help, we could not retrieve it. We called the marina again, asked for troubleshooting, and requested someone come assist us. We were told no. We had no choice but to return without the anchor and were charged for both anchors and a late fee--even though the delay resulted from equipment issues and the marina declined to assist us on the water. What disappointed me most wasn't the charges--it was the lack of customer service. As renters with limited boating experience, we relied on the marina's guidance and assistance when problems arose. Instead, we were left to figure it out ourselves and then billed for the outcome. I emailed management in an effort to resolve the matter privately before posting a review and never received a response. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Lakeway Marina and will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Ever wanted to epically shout, "I'M THE CAPTAIN NOW" like the Somali Pirate in Captain Phillips? Well, here's your chance. For less than $400 for 2 hours (or how ever many hours you'd like, pricing varies), you can rent a boat and seize the day! Booking is made easy online. All you have to do is choose your boat, select your day/time, complete registration, make a payment, and that's it-- you are good to go. Once you arrive to the marina, you can either park in the parking structure or in the private lot. Make sure to be as portable as possible, as it's quite a trek from the parking lot to the marina. You have to walk down steep stairs in order to arrive at your destination. For those with bad knees, you've been warned! Food and beverages are allowed (no glass), but I highly suggest trying to finish what you bring, as the journey down is always easier than going up. read more

All the employees were nice and helpful! It is a pretty rugged road leading to the gravel parking lot. They drive about 5 minutes to the nearby island. They take a longer way back, so you get to see the other side of the island. read more

We rented a boat from Lakeway Marina to celebrate my son's birthday. It's not cheap and not something we'd do on a regular basis, but we had a great experience and felt we got our money's worth. The boat and equipment were in good condition. It's not top of the line, but it's decent. The boat had 200 HP, which means it had plenty of power and had no trouble hauling 8 of us around the lake and pulling up a tube. Everyone on the staff was professional and helpful with good tips and such. I also liked that you could drive the boat yourself. Having previously owned a boat I had no apprehension about driving and preferred the privacy of spending time with just our family and friends and without a stranger captain. I'd definitely recommend Lakeway Marina. read more

We love Lakeway Marina!! We've been going for several years and have made the best memories and have had the best experiences on the lake! Jodi and the team are a well-oiled machine and go above and beyond for customers. Boats are always clean, well maintained and ready to go. The Marina sells a large variety of beverages, sunscreen, snacks and name brand merchandise -- all of which we have bought. Pro tips: ask for free ice for the cooler on the boat, boat before departure, book in advance for optimal rental times. Rental of the tube is great for kids, life preservers are already on the boat. Request kids sizes if needed. 80 stairs down to the Marina. If you have mobility issues, coolers or older family members they have a tram ("elevator") available at the entrance instead of the stairs. We've always had great boat rental experiences here. They get you set up and on the water quickly. Nice shop for last minute supplies and friendly staff. It's a pretty steep climb up and down from the parking lot, but plenty of places to stop and rest if needed. They also appear to have a small elevator to the dock which we've never used. Had a wonderful experience as my first time hosting a boat party, and my first time ever going to the water. Michael and Michelle were our captain for the shark party boat up to 50 people. They did a amazing job with the cooking and the prep. I couldn't thank them 2 enough. Our boat party was from 5pm to 9pm. The sunset was amazing and the combination of everyone enjoying themselves made it a great party. So once again thank you Michael and Michelle for the great experience. We were able to book a speed boat and tube for a sunday afternoon and we had a blast! The 4 hours went by fast but it was the perfect amount of time for our group! We booked a sunday reservation a week ahead and then were able to check in and out quickly the day of. The guy that helped us and gave us directions was new to the area and excited to be working there. We didn't have any issues booking or leaving. My family has been coming here for years! The staff is wonderful and Jodi is so delightful. The boats are always spotless. There are many stairs down to the ramp but there is a tram/elevator for heavy coolers, an older guest, disabled, etc. Highly recommend if anybody in the area is looking for a great time! read more

Another trip to The Lake, another boat rental from Lakeway Marina. Actually, we rented it two days in a row. Not because they were so awesome - but because they're just about the only place close enough to us without wasting too much time driving the boat to and fro. They were pretty accommodating when we were running 30 minutes behind both days, so kudos to that. But what really made NO sense what the ridiculously small tube that was rented out to us both days. Not even one of a normal girl's booty cheek would fit in the tube, much less my two bro-in-laws that kept tumbling over, unable to hold a balance. After the first day, they took off the charge. The second day, same janky ass tube. Same problem. They're response was that the tubes that size are rented out to the $80-per-hour, 8-person boats; if we however got the boat that came with a driver, the larger tube was rented out. Tell me, what does having a captain or not have to do with the size of a functioning tube? Nada. if you rent from them, INSIST on a larger tube. Otherwise, it will just be left chillin' inside your boat, taking up space. read more

My wife and I have made a couple of lake trips over the past few years and have used this place every-time to rent a boat. We got a 10 person capacity runabout each time. The boats were in good condition and had bluetooth sound systems built in and the employees fill and provide ice chests for you at no charge. Everything is pretty quick in terms of service here, too. Just make a reservation (or sometimes can do last minute), show up, sign a few forms and then they'll teach you about the boat and let you enjoy the lake. read more

Great experience with Michelle and the service department. Needed my annual maintenance that my boat dealer, dealer I bought the boat from new, wanted almost $3000! Plus they charge me $300 to trailer the boat to take to the dealership. Michelle and her team got everything done, literally the same maintenance exactly, for under $2000 plus I just drove it over to the marina and left it with them. Will definitely be using them for now on for boat maintenance and repair. read more

The guy, Chip, and his assistant really went out of their way to make sure we were having fun! They were constantly throwing away empty cans, asking us if we wanted drinks when we were in the water, and threw us floaties after we shot out of the water slide. I totally didn't expect to be served like royalty, but it seemed like a pleasure for them to do it all! I highly recommend Lakeway Marina for any kind of party or get-together. The boat we rented could carry about 50 people comfortably; It came equipped with speakers to stream music through your IPhone, coolers for your drinks, tables for food, chairs, a large grill, and many noodle floaties! Great time on our boat. But the radio Or BT did not work. We were all the way across the lake. Called and they said come back and we will fix. That was not going to happen. Not happy. But when we got back they gave us one hour back on our rental which was greatly appreciated and was the right thing to do!! Good job!! read more

What do you do when it won't stop raining and Zilker Park kayak rentals are closed? Drive all the way to Lake Travis, of course. They have motor boats, party boats, jet skis, paddleboats, and single person kayaks. No tandem kayaks. They are mostly known for their boat rentals. But like I said, we were desperate to kayak. We rented single kayaks for $15 for 1 hour. We stayed on the marina and didn't make it out to open water, which is pretty far out. It was too windy and we were feeling lazy. It's an arm workout even without the extra paddling. They provide life jackets. Much needed for someone who does not trust her swimming skills. You can leave your stuff (purses, wallets, etc.) behind the counter. Overall, it was fun way to spend a gorgeous day out with friends. I'm missing that early summer weather. read more

horrible customer service. company only cares about $$. they don't make rental terms clear and will not offer any assistance if you run into trouble (though they will charge you extra!). there are also a LOT of steep stairs on the way down to the lake, which they do not disclose. if anyone in your party has trouble with hiking, they will not be able to access the marina, which is something the company should be telling guests ahead of time. unfortunately would definitely recommend renting elsewhere if you want a good lake travis experience. would give this 0 stars if possible read more

Let's start here so when this is finished everything comes full circle. "We do have great customer service. You can read this from our reviews etc." So I did that. I read the reviews on Yelp and see 3.5 stars which equates to a 70%. In school that is almost failing and based on some of the reviews methinks that I have been dealing with the same person as described below in another review. "Very curt-- cut me off several times as I asked questions and was frankly kind of a B." And now we shall start our short story titled "How to Provide Poor Customer Service and Stay in Business." A few years back a friend of mine was going through cancer and this place provided him with an auction item for 2 hours of free boat rental. I love when businesses give back and so this alone earns this business one star. Kudos. Since this fundraiser was in winter, I let the certificate sit for a while because, well...it's winter. No biggie. Once spring came, I left a phone message asking for someone to call me back to discuss how it all works, etc. No one ever called back. No biggie to me. So I emailed. No response again. I understand people get busy, sometimes people forget things, sometimes staff doesn't do their job. Not a big deal. It's not a life or death situation so I'm not going to go all crazy. It's a boat rental ffs. Spring and summer pass and now it's winter. The next year Spring arrives as it always does and I call again. Left a message with answering machine and no response. Also shot info through their Contact form on their website. No answer again. So I did this every year, calling and emailing through spring and summer. How many responses? Probably about as many f's as you are giving about this story right about now: 0. Fast forward to now (2017) and guess what?!? I actually receive an answer from their manager. That doesn't earn another star as that's just doing business. I mention that I have tried for the past few years to get someone to respond to me and no one has ever replied. I wanted to see if it was possible for them to honor the gift certificate. I understand it is expired so if it was a 'No' that's just how it is but it all went down a little differently. "So you have been trying to call us since 2012? We are open 7 days per week and have never had any issues with responding to messages or returning phone calls. What number have you been calling? What email have you emailed? Send me the emails if you would." As a first reply - seems somewhat hostile to me - this is pretty bad. Generic customer service is 'I'm sorry this happened. How can I help you?' Pretty basic but totally missed by this company. Oh, and I don't have email evidence. I don't keep that kind of thing on file. I'm not planning to go to court or use it as leverage for anything. It's just an email. An unanswered one. She (Jodi) asks me to send her my certificate so I do. I mean, maybe the tone in her email isn't really coming through so I'll send it to her and maybe she will be helpful. And here is today's reply. I am almost sorry that they did reply to my email. "Hi Nathan, I received the gift certificate in the mail. I'm very confused as to why you think I should honor this with it being almost 4 years expired? I will honor it this one time but I have spoken to several other colleagues in the same business and they absolutely do not think I should honor it. Let me know what day you want to come out. I just want to move on at this point." Wow! Okay. First off, I merely ASKED if it would be possible to use. I never demanded that I be able to use it. Second, it's not about your colleagues. It's about how you want to run your business. And then to say 'I just want to move on at this point.' Honey, we just sent messages a couple of times via email. There was no crazy relationship here for us to 'move on' from. I thank her for the wonderful customer service experience that is loaded with attitude because it is. I tell her I really don't care if they honor it at this point. Then... "Nathan, Once again, I have been here 16 years and we do not have issues checking emails or phone messages. We do have great customer service. You can read this from our reviews etc. That is why I said I would honor the gift card and move on. I 100% know that you will have a great experience when you come out to use the boat and hopefully you will come more than just this 2 hours. The whole thing is this is 4 years old?" Instead of leaving it with 'I 100% know that you will have a great eexperience..' she adds on 'The whole thing is this is 4 years old?' I am aware. That's WHY I contacted you. Hello! BUT then a secondary almost PS-like email comes in before I can reply the one above which says... "And again, I think you should be somewhat happy I even considered honoring it being that it expired 4 years ago. Most people wouldn't do that. Not sure how that is not customer service." Our family had a great time today with Brent as our ski boat driver. My kids hadn't done skiing, tubing, or kneeboarding before, and Brent was very helpful. He coached them on the use of each piece of equipment and helped them learn from their mistakes. He's a great driver and we couldn't have had such a good time with just a boat rental. Yesterday we rented jet skies from Lakeway and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time. I highly recommend Lakeway Marina. They made our vacation outstanding. read more

So this review will encompass a few things. This is a nice establishment. They have clearly cornered this area of the lake is the only one here. There are others, but also very hard to get to. We rented 3 boats, and I rented a jet ski. I was the last to get it, bc we decided last minute to get it. Rates are a borderline reasonable and not. Service is a bit touch and go since they hire high schoolers. A couple of older adults to supervise. They don't really go thru the safety with you quite well, or explain how to's very well either. While I took the jet ski back, my friend hopped on the back and went back with me. As we were going in to the no wake zone, I turned to avoid someone coming out. As that happened, we flipped. We went in, and parked the ski. However, with them being so strict with things, they charged almost $300 to pump out the water. That's insane. That is where I felt that it was crazy and took me and rung me out. Horrible and they could have made a pass. Since they were busy and had the business to support them. I was so happy to find out that they had availability for 4th of July as all the other places I had called were completely booked. We got stuck in the traffic for the parade that was happening and they were kind to give us some extra time even though they were completely booked after 11:30am. The staff is very friendly and the ride around the lake itself was amazing. The boat itself was in nice condition and very clean. They're located in such a nice area with amazing views and the houses you can see. Definitely would recommend this place and I will definitely be telling my friends to come here and I will be coming back whenever I visit Austin again. read more

Cons: The reason I'm giving the 3 stars is due to the horrible booking experience we encountered. My group and I were booked for 4 pm so they told us to show up no later than 330pm. We made arrangements and where there prior to 330 to check in. The employee informed us they had gave our rental to another group so our booking was moved to 430 without a notice. So we decided to wait since we had already drove to the location. We did not get the rental until @ 5 pm! The ski boat was parked in the wrong place so the employees assumed we were on the rental and noted we had left @415 while we were still in the waiting area. Pros: The ski boat was not in bad shape We were refunded immediately the hour we did not use the ski boat due to the bad weather. read more

RENT ELSEWHERE. THEY WILL OVERCHARGE LATER. The Marina itself is beautiful but the staff is extremely snobby and rude. I rented a boat for 2 hours and it was briefly checked before my boyfriend and I left. When we got back they charged us for the propellar because it was chipped. The employee who checked our boat didnt even look at the entire propellar before sending us out with it. We stayed in the middle of the lake the whole time and didnt go up to a beach or do anything risky with the boat. When I tried to talk to the manager she kept interrupting me to talk to other employees about other customers, not seeming to care that I was being charged extra for something I was not responsible for. Honestly, I think this is a really nice area with a resort nearby but the staff was racist, inconsiderate and took advantage of us. read more

Not only did they not let us cancel but they kept the deposit and tried to charge us when we weren't even on the boat. Absolutely worst experience I've had as an adult renting anything in my life. This marina gets two stars for being in a cool location. As in, the scenery is cool and there is a neat little tram elevator that takes you down the hill to the dock. The novelty quickly wears off and the rest of the facts regarding this marina aren't really good ones. The launch ramp is steep, narrow and problematic because it is not protected by a 'no wake zone'. Once you are launched, you only have seconds to get out of the way before you hit a pier. Not ideal. The shop and marina management isn't bad, but there are better marinas nearby that are owned and operated by the same company. I used to keep my boat here on a wet slip. It was subject to a lot of wake and I eventually moved it. I will likely never return, unless I feel like a free tram ride. read more
