I contacted AJ a few weeks ago about a bathroom remodel (mainly bathtub to shower conversion). A meeting was setup for a couple of days later. Meeting went well and I was told I should expect an estimate soon. Being new to the process, I figured I'd get an estimate within a week or so. Never received a response. I even contacted and left a message for them a little over a week had past. No response. I figured they weren't interested in the job for some reason but I would have preferred them to just say so instead of no response at all. If they needed longer for the estimate, that would have been fine also. However, no response. No worries though. I'm just going in a different direction. Just unexpected from all the reviews I've read and the work I've seen in the pictures. read more

Our home was old and needed a lot of attention. Jorge's detailed assessment of what was needed to do the job properly was what won me over. It was several difficult tasks that could have cost us much more than what they charged us. We not only had them do a tub to shower conversion, but also replaced a window, installed a new vanity and tiled the floor in 2 bathrooms. This review is based solely on communication and not their actual work. The gentlemen (very nice) came out to look at the repairs I wanted done in my home. They emailed me the plans, costs and everything. I wanted to use them and felt very comfortable with them. Then after many attempts to book them, they said they could not do the project until about a month and a half later due to a busy schedule. I said that was fine and I would wait. So I waited and waited and have sent them MANY messages and got no response. So the work on my home was not completed and now I have to start looking for someone else to do the work. Very poor communication. I get that you're busy, but if you say you can book me in February, then keep your word. Here it is now, February, and I get no response. Jorge was very apologetic about the issues and has since come and started repairs. I am VERY pleased with the work they have done thus far. You know it's a good company when they acknowledge their downfalls and work hard to correct them. I will post pictures after the work is completed and I'm sure they will be earning 5 stars. Had a leak in a second floor bathroom that caused some water damage in that room and damaged the ceiling downstairs. I got several quotes on the repairs and ended up going with AJ Home Improvements. Their quote was very detailed and the cost was reasonable. When they came to do the work, they arrived on time and were courteous and efficient. The quality of the finished work was excellent. Called up this company due to the high rate on yelp, they came out took some measurements, and said that we would have a quote emailed to us by Tuesday the 15 of May 2018, well Tuesday came and went with no quote, even though they were upfront about not being able to hit our target day we were still looking at possibly using them to do the work. However now with no quote and no response to text or call, it is a bit hard to hire and recommend them for further work, at this point it would have been better if they had just said we don't want to do the job.. Armando and Jorge were hired to install @ 80 s.f. of mosaic tile we purchased for the kitchen in our newly built home. The tile backsplash we wanted covers the entire wall (extended over the cabinets to the ceiling), which required removal and reinstalling a large glass and stainless steel vent fan over the gas stove and cutting crown molding to fit the tile behind it. We also had them move a dining room chandelier light fixture and repair the drywall at the old location and had them install 2 garage storage ceiling racks. Choosing A & J was the BEST decision we could have made!! Both are professional, personable and highly skilled. They went above and beyond by going out at the end of their LONG first day to purchasing the perfect pencil trim (and texting me photos to pick from several) when the Schluter edge strip sold to us by the tile company was too thick. They were patient with my questions and weren't bothered by my watching their work. They were meticulous with all aspects of the installations and the clean-up, taking great care to protect my floors, granite, cabinets, appliances and furniture. I LOVE the way my kitchen turned out!! Additionally, we can't even tell where the old fixture was, as it blended seamlessly. We plan on having them return in a few months to do more work. It took me a while to move forward with the project and then took a few messages before I was able to get into their schedule (they must be very busy!). Jorge and Armando built a new shower for me which I reviewed earlier. I was so happy with their work that I recently had them return to install new porcelain tile flooring through most of my house and also a new kitchen backsplash. I also had them re-texture my kitchen and master bath walls which previously had a DIY texture job that didn't look so hot. Once again, they did a first class job - it is like they are doing the work as if it was their own home. I noticed another review faulting them on communication - that has not been my experience. Yes, these guys are busy and they book about 4 to 6 weeks out. They will contact you a few days before the project start date to arrange a time to pick up the deposit. Once the project starts, there will be no surprises as communication is excellent. AJ Home Improvements did a combo of framing, insulating, and drywalling an interior brick wall, and removing some old carpet and laminate flooring to lay down a new tile floor. They weren't my cheapest bid for the work, but I chose them because of Jorge's response time & demeanor when providing the quote and their good reviews online. I wasn't disappointed. I cannot say enough good things about the work Jorge and Armando did on my house! My husband and I recently purchased a home that we wanted to make some cosmetic changes to. I came across AJ Home Improvements via Yelp while searching for a good company to complete tile work. Since they had 5 stars, I decided it would be worth reaching out. Jorge came to my house that evening (I think it was a Wednesday), sent a quote a few hours later and they began work on Sunday! They demo'd our the old kitchen back splash, replaced the dry-wall, re-tiled the entire area and tiled our new fireplace. Half way through the job, we also asked them to demo a small piece of our master bathroom back splash and replace that drywall. On the last day of the job, they also reinstalled 4 of the sinks in our house (kitchen, bar area and bathrooms). Having worked with/hired so many different companies lately (painters, texture/dry-wall company, granite installers, roofers, etc.) I have to say our experience with AJ Home Improvements was the best. I am very particular (almost obsessive compulsive!) with the work done on my house and Jorge and Armando were clean, quick and did fantastic work! Had I found them sooner, I would have used them for more than just the demo, tile work and plumbing. We will absolutely be using Jorge and Armando in the future! Contacted AJ Home Improvements for tile work in Kitchen backsplash and casita backsplash. Armando and his brother did an amazing job. Very meticulous, and clean job. The tile work was done with lots of thought, as it was not an easy pattern to work with since each tile was different. Before the guys started, they covered everything with paper, then when finished, they wiped down everything and cleaned my stove and range hood, counters, then cleaned the floor.
