Well on the outside, this store front is not much. This store is small compared to the one in Visalia, Paso Robles & Arroyo Grande. But I did happened to find some pretty good deals after Christmas. I came pretty early and I suggest you do too before the parking lot gets crowded. This store is pretty jampacked and packed full of goods . There are six registers, but only three were open with cashiers. I came to look around & get my shower tabs here . If you're not familiar with shower tabs, think of it as an aromatic experience while you shower. Check out my pics for prices & see what I got. My biggest find was the light pink BOGG brand bag for $39.99. It came with an internal pouch. These bags are great for lunch & work because they are easy to clean & they stand upright and hold their shape. Watch out for a couple of homeless dudes hanging around offering to washer windshield. He's asked me twice already and I've had to tell him I just got through washing my car check out that previous Yelp review that was an awesome experience. I absolutely love Marshall's. It's a bummer there is only the one in town but whenever I'm near it I have to stop and see what they have. After reading these comments that it was filthy and customer service was bad and that it was not a pleasant experience I set out to see if that was true. It was, in short the location is filthy, the store is not like other Marshall's and finally not so friendly and sadly as the only Marshall's nearby it is not a good experience. read more

Awful with customer service and getting an associate to punch the code in when you're in need of the restroom.

Appeared to be pretty clean and well-maintained. I had a meeting here, and sat in a display chair near the front entrance. I tried to hold still as long as possible to see if anyone thought I might be part of the display. I don't think I fooled anyone. Employees were helpful and competent, and the deals looked pretty good, though I did not purchase anything. read more

It's official, I am addicted to this store. Marshalls is always my first stop if I think they MAY carry something, but what I love is that my instincts are usually right. Example 1: I was gifted a Keurig (YAY!)...I wondered if Marshalls had K-cups for cheaper. Yes, they did! Example 2: My old iPhone case broke...I wondered if Marshalls had iPhone 4 cases for cheaper. Yes, they did too! And, of course I always find plenty of other stuff that I don't need too. My most awesome find, you may ask...a Kate Spade purse for a little over $100. Actual retail price: $395. What a steal. And, it's such a classic purse and I get compliments on it all the time! It's also in season right now and on sale at Neiman Marcus. Marshalls is a discount department store with a huge selection of shoes, clothes for men, women, and children as well as furniture and housewares. Everything is discounted below department store prices, though I wouldn't say their prices were the lowest in town. They had quite a few premium brand names, Ralph Lauren & Guess among them. I bought two pairs of dressy summer sandals and a pair of super high strappy heels and came out under $75. I thought it was a little strange that they kept the bathrooms locked so that you had to find an employee to buzz you into them. The restrooms were clean, but the toilet in the biggest stall didn't work. My mom found a summery jumper and a blouse to match for a garden party she is attending tonight, so we both accomplished our missions successfully. They didn't have too much of a selection of clothing in size extra large, so if you're not a beanpole you may have less to choose from. read more

The last few times I have visited this Marshall's, I've had no luck finding what I need. Their home department is my favorite; it carries a decent variety of brand name items, such as All-Clad, Calphalon & Cuisinart. Compared to other Marshall's, this one needs some updating & a larger variety of merchandise. It's a discount store, so you never know what you'll find on any given day. I like a good deal, and I'm proud of that. I love scavenging stores like Ross, TJ Maxx and Marshalls for my designer fix at lower prices. Since moving to Bakersfield a month ago, I slowly made my way to the different stores found here, and was mostly disappointed with all of them. Except this place...this place is gold. It's located in a shopping center across from the mall, with a Joann's Fabric and a Subway also sharing the area. It looked pretty sketchy to be honest...the parking lot was in ill repair and the building didn't exactly look loved. However, in I went, marching past the stationed security guard and through the front doors. Inside, I found racks of Rock and Republic, Paige Denim, Lucky's, and Joe's. Wowza. Usually when I find designer denim, it's one or two pairs, and never in my size. But there was tons here, along with dresses from Theory, Tahari, Tart, Betsey Johnson, Free People, and the list goes on and on. I. Was. So. Impressed! The shoe selection was also huge, and there was a good amount marked on clearance. I ended up buying three pairs, all marked on red tag clearance (just couldn't pass up a deal!) and a few other items. The line wasn't outrageous either, which had been my experience at the Ross on Coffee. I waited maybe 2 minutes in line, completed my sales transaction with a fairly pleasant associate, and off I went. Marshalls, I'm glad you're here. read more

I was able to return at my local Marshall's with no problem, and the items did not ring up with different names as suggested by the empoyee at the Bakersfield location. Also, I called ahead of time and spoke with a manager incase they needed to pull up the video from when I purchased so as not to waste my time when I arrive. No video was necessary. read more

Another discount store with defective or rejected merchandise. Another store that is stacked out. I could do that and it still be OK maybe three stars. But I have yet to find clothing here that is something I would wear. Last two times the pants and shirts in stock really did look like something funny old people would wear in a Hollywood comedy. Well I am not yet that old and funny so I did not buy. On the positive side, they have a big clean parking lot, and they are across the street from the mall. read more

I love hunting for deals here! I come almost weekly and there's always new stuff! I mainly come for office/professional clothes and I find that a lot of their tops are versatile and can be worn casually as well. Once in a while I'll find shoes or a purse on clearance that's too good to pass up! I subtracted a star because you have to really inspect their products. I once bought a sweater and didn't realize until a month later that the sleeves had been sewn inside out. (Not that noticeable so no big deal). I've also seen handbags where the handles are sewn incorrectly (I.e. the seam facing outwards instead of inwards). As long as you do a quality assurance check before your purchase, you'll be fine! read more

This always on my top ten lists for shopping. I find their selection and cleanliness can't top the other two which are Ross and TJ Maxx.
