The security guard working the front door acted like a total idiot and had a weird vibe as soon as we walked in. Like bro, if you need a wanna be tough guy security guard at a Marshall's you might want to rethink your location and this area is actually nice, weirdly enough. Thugs have ruined the retail industry. I love Marshall's but it seems to me that I have came across some crappy ones as of late and this one happens to be one of them. What's up with that Marshall's? It was very disorganized and the customer service was horrible. Every person working seemed to be pissed off at the world. Yeah, the prices are great at Marshall's but what's that matter if they never have what you're looking for and the employees are crappy. Hard Pass! 50% of the time I come to any Marshall's I never end finding what I am looking for and buy something else instead. I tried to on this day too but that security guard got on my nerves, so we left. Do better Marshall's ;)

The item had been zeroed out because it was originally a part of a pack of 4. So she told me that she was going to throw it out. I would have gladly paid for it, but she would not even give it to me. If the manager does not have the administrative power to sell something that is located on the store floor, for sale, then who does? If you can 0 it out, why can't you add the item back in and then, perhaps discount it as damaged? And if I can't buy something as simple as a candle to light up a 5 year old girls heart from a billion dollar corporation, during the holidays, we obviously have much bigger, more complicated problems. I don't think I was asking the store for an unreasonable request.

Ahh, this strip mall has been around for a really long time, even longer before I was born in the…read moreextreme early 90s. When I was a little toddler in Garwood, my dad would take me out here just to walk around. There was an "open space" area with visible steel structures where I used to just run around briefly during those times. Today, that "open space" is still there. This strip mall has two anchor stores. Since the early 90s, those anchor stores were Walgreens and Kings. During the 90s, they had some other notable stores that I remember either going into or passed by when I was little. Those stores included Radio Shack, Encore Books (I bet a lot of you during those times remember this store!), Dress Barn, an Eye DR place, a liquor store, and a laundromat. The roof tops on the strip mall were green, and some green circles were visible on some parts of the strip mall as well. The parking lot is huge, and reasonably sized for all of the patrons here. The parking lot is also for patrons only, since they don't like commuters parking for the purpose of boarding trains. In the 90s, the parking area revealed a lot of old, faded parking stripes and designs, which proved that the parking layout was different long before I existed. But fast forward to today, the old parking decals are long gone, and the lot itself is quite smoother than before. Today, the stores that are still in business since the 90s include Kings, Dress Barn, an Eye Dr place (with different name), and a laundromat. Encore Books was gone and the space was probably taken over by Pet Valu. Walgreens moved further down the road, and Crunch Fitness took their former spot, thus making them an anchor. The liquor store got replaced by GNC. The steel structures were covered up in the "open space" area. The roof tops are still green today, as well as the circles, except for the one circle on top of Investors Bank. Not sure why that was painted with a different color. Overall, this strip mall serves the purpose of catering to the patrons in a very small town. I've never had an issue with parking here at all. Walking from one end of the strip mall to the other is pleasant. But be patient when trying to make a left turn into the strip mall from South Avenue as the opposing traffic can be very hectic at times. Cheers!

So when I went to go pick up the latest "Transformers" ornament I took the chance to visit this Hallmark for the first time. Located in a rather modern and large shopping center, businesses nearby include Whole Foods, Petco, Dressbarn and more. It's a very nice place to shop and having a Hallmark makes for a nice store to visit. This is perhaps one of the largest Hallmarks I have visited in quite some time. The one that is in Port Authority Bus Terminal may be the next largest I have visited in recent years (and that one is currently under renovation so who knows who big it will be when they're done). When you walk in the entire store is sort of sensory overload. To one side is a section for clothing, oddly on another shelf are Halloween decorations (it's July as I write this). In another section are a bunch of stuffed animals including an entire set of shelves dedicated to Unicorns (it's kind of amazing). I was most interested in the ornaments of course, so I wound up all the way to the left side of the store where they had them against a wall. The display was really nicely done. In particular I loved the way the Star Wars ornaments were put together in "story" mode (they play audio clips from the movies). While they were going off, a staff member told me a fun story about how much her family loves those particular ornaments and how there are lines to buy them on opening day. When I went to check out, the cashier talked to me about how popular the ornaments were and asked me if I needed anything else. Overall the customer service as very nice and my entire experience was a pleasant one.
