There's a saying that "West End is the best End." I'm not sure if that extends to the MARTA station…read morebut the area is very underrated though. Let's dive into it. West End has a parking lot - probably the biggest parking lot too within the proximity of Downton Atlanta. I occasionally park at West End MARTA to attend sporting events. West End is also one of the stations my local bus stops at. So I'm more likely to frequent it for that reason as well. Especially if I have a North/Southbound journey to make. West End Station is local to West End Mall, Lee+White mixed use development, Wren's Nest (an underrated Atlanta landmark and staple), the Westside Beltline, and the Atlanta University Center to name a few. The station itself isn't the cleanest. I've witnessed people handle their business is various ways around the West End property. The smell is a dead give away as well. But that's neither here nor there. Generally speaking, safety is ok at West End. A few pan handlers and gray market salesman may approach but none of them usually mean any harm. Lighting in the parking lots could be better overall. The lighting is dim in the area further away from station. There is a farmer's market every now and then at the station. I've bought a few things. But I usually find myself on the way to work or not heading home so I don't typically buy stuff at the market. There's also a soccer field on the Southside of the station. It looks like an artificial grass surface that's roughly the size of a basketball court. Don't usually see people playing on it though. Last thing. The view looking north while on the boarding platform is nice. One of the best views of the football stadium and south part of Downtown Atlanta.

This station is one of the ones that the train goes above ground which makes it great when there's…read moregood time because it doesn't have that depressing effect. It's a really big station and a lot of lights at night. No screens to have an idea of when the next train is coming. The wall sculpture is outside in the south entrance and very original and different from other stations.

This Marta station is very clean and in the open, so if the weather is hot or cold, you will be hot…read moreor cold. The credit card machines to buy the tickets they do not work. I think I spent 20 minutes trying to buy a one-way ticket to the convention center stop. There are escalators on both sides in case you have luggage.

It's about a 15 minutes walk to Lenox mall. Not a bad walk but don't do it in the summertime. (It'll feel like an hour walk! and you'll need a shower by the time you get to your destination.) By bus it's about 15 minutes as well.... There are lots of signs throughout the station letting you know where and what... There are a lot of big hotels nearby including W, Mandarin Oriental, Grand Hyatt and InterContinental. Yes, there is a train station closer to the stadium, but most people get off the train at that station, so we just stay on the train until the next stop at Vine City and deal with a smaller crowd. After that, it's a short walk on the pedestrian bridge to the front of the stadium. Using MARTA trains to get to the stadium sure saves us a lot of money for parking fees. This MARTA train station needs a good cleaning using a strong power sprayer.

I have always used the long term parking deck to park my car when going out of town and have never…read morehad any issues. They use to have an actual attendant there 24/7 but now, since the renovations, it has a machine. So I don't know if it is guarded, as far as if someone can walk in a vandalize or steal vehicles. It's $8 a day and you would just hope on the MARTA for one stop to get to the airport.

The College Park station's parking lot here is being renovated so there are some spaces roped off. There were still plenty available though. The ticket vending machines were a bit confusing honestly. I had to stare at the menu for a bit before I figured out how to just order a single pass. They could use a UI redesign. The electronic signage and even the MARTA app in the College Park station were not that great in providing info on arriving northbound trains. One showed up within 10 minutes, though. The info seemed better in the other station I used. There did seem to be a visible police presence around the College Park station, which is probably a good thing. They could use more cops near Peachtree Center station.

This station is on the Gold Line. It's the 2nd stop if you're going southbound (downtown or…read moreairport). It's the 16th stop stop if you're going Northbound (Doraville). If you're going to the airport it's about a 37 min ride on the average. There are close to 1800 parking spaces available here so you shouldn't have any problems finding parking. It's free if it's less than 24 hrs. If its over 24 hrs then its $8 per day-including your first day. If you're going to China Town Square or any of the nearby Asian restaurants then this is your stop. This station is pretty good shape and I've not had any problems with people asking for change or giving me religious literature. Here are some general information about Marta that might be helpful. Right about now Chamblee is my favorite Marta station. Why? Because I travel to Doraville every day…read morebut I have the option of using this station to go where I need to without all the foolishness from Doraville Station. Basically I catch an Uber from this station to work. Its hassle free and I swear the passengers that use this location are way different. I don't experience the craziness. This location has more than one entrance though. There is Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Peachtree Road and then there is New Peachtree Road. Use this exit to catch Uber, Lyft or Taxis. This is also the side with Kiss and Ride and also some buses. The Xpress Bus is located onnthe Peachtree Road side. Most people going tobthe Walmart nearby use the Chamblee Dunwoody side. I just like this station eay more than others. The elevator and escalator are almost never out of order. Lots of steps however.

While we were visiting the Georgia aquarium, we decided to take Marta to the airport. It took us a few minutes to figure out how to get a ticket. Then, a guy who was there cleaning the station asked us where we were heading. Who would imagine the station worker gives us false information? We ran to catch a train heading the wrong way! Luckily, I noticed that and got off the train. An elevator is a home for homeless people and inside the train smells like pot. Even with downtown traffic, you are safer and better off taking Uber.

Civic Center Station - MARTA is located where Peachtree St NW is over I75/I85…read more Train riders can enter this station from either side of Peachtree St NW, then read the signs in the station that direct riders which direction the trains go, and use either the elevator or escalator to go down to the appropriate loading area. The only times that I've gotten off of the train at this station was so that I could walk to either the Georgia Aquarium or World of Coca Cola, and the only time I've gotten on the train at this station was because I had returned from the Georgia Aquarium or World of Coca Cola. Every time I've been in this station, there have hardly been any other people around, including law enforcement, so I'm actually a lot more cautious, alert and aware of my surroundings when I'm in this area.

I rode the train to the airport this morning and a one way ticket is $3.50 like the previous time I…read morerode the train. There was some old lady making a nuisance of herself by the gates and the lone staff member on duty was trying to ignore her. As I passed through the gate the lady slipped through behind me and I said she should probably buy a ticket and she told me to mind my own damn business. I would have, if she didn't use me to skip paying for the train fare. I bet her plan was to follow someone else out at her stop because you need to use your ticket to enter and exit the stations. When we got on the train the lady was babbling to herself the entire time. I don't think she was all there in the head. At least this train didn't smell like pee. There was no ventilation so it was very stuffy despite the cooler temperatures of the early morning.
