I walked in to Martha's Garden today to check out some of the clothes that they sell for dogs. The stench of urine was overwhelming. It smelled like ammonia. It's too bad I only learned about this place during my last month of my work located just a block away. I have placed my dog 3x now in their half-day day camp program. This indoor dog park is for dogs 40lbs or smaller only. I like that they have cognitive activities for the dogs and the pups get outdoor walks included in their stay too. They also have easy food drop offs bin. Just write your dogs name on their food bag. I noticed little refrigerators under the front desk area so you definitely can bring food other than kibbles that need refrigeration. The staff are also very friendly and cheery and this makes me feel happy that my dog will be in good care. Each day camp comes with a report card at the end of the day of what your dog did and sometimes there are photos of your dog with their new dog friends or on their walks. We tried to call to schedule a meet. When we arrived, they didn't know what was going on and at the time were struggling to control the place and didn't look at all comfortable. Our pup loves Martha's Garden! She's 34 lbs and full of spice, but can get overwhelmed with a lot of larger dogs trying to play with her. All of the dogs at Martha's Garden are under 40lbs so great play size for our pup. There are little activities during daycare that add to the experience - so there's some variety to the playtime! I've met various staff members and they're kind and love dogs. The ratio of humans to dogs seem great. And there's a twitch channel to watch your dogs if you miss them during the day! My favorite part is being able to see a report card after a daycare - especially with the pictures included (sometimes just a blur of my dog because she's too busy having fun to be photographed). A few human friends have deduced times when our dogs have played together through these report cards - such a fun treat to read after a day away from the pup! read more

I've had a change of heart in my rating and experience. Shannon went above and beyond to prove her commitment to my dog/pup. I recently had a death in the family and had to use their boarding services for last minute travel. Martha's Garden was there for me during this challenging time. I'm a huge fan of Martha's Garden. I need to put a lot of trust into a place that I'm going to drop my puppy off at away from me for a whole day. I can tell that Shannon and her staff truly care about these puppies. They are also transparent in showing what's going on with the dogs at any time of the day by providing a livestream for you to take a look. I sometimes share the link with my family and friends and they get a kick out of seeing what my dog is up to during the day. Martha's Garden's facility is not only really cute but it's also really clean and open. The dogs really seem to enjoy the space! Review for Puppy Camp/day care only TL;DR: It was a great experience only when the owner was working. If she's not there, some of the other staff could care less to supervise the puppies or cause regression in puppy training/behavior due to improper correction techniques. If you choose to bring your dog, I highly recommend not just watching but listening to the Twitch stream. -- It pains me to have to write this review. If any of you are either new puppy parents or consider your dogs like family, you would also be disappointed with the unacceptable behavior my puppy experienced when you're putting money and trust of your fur baby in someone else's hands. I spoke directly to the owner about our last visit, who agreed what happened was unacceptable and was assured a conversation with her staff was to happen. Two weeks later, I have yet to receive any follow-up communication. What this tells me is the incidents that occurred were either not that huge of a red flag and/or I'm not valued enough as a return client. I had high hopes for MG. My partner has experience working in dog daycare in SF and our senior dog regularly attended many dog daycares as a young puppy to 10 yrs old, both in SF and Seattle. When we got a new puppy, I was drawn to MG's puppy camp w/naptime and enrichment activities. I also loved that they have a live stream so you can see (and hear) what they're doing. On my puppy's first day, Shannon, the owner was working. I was able to check in on her via Twitch and see my puppy playing and having a blast with the different activities. I got a load of pictures and video on her report card with positive remarks. I was extremely impressed that I told everyone I knew in my Seattle dog group how wonderful this place was. I nearly bought a package that day but decided to wait after her second visit. The following week on my puppy's second visit, the owner was not working that day, but there were three other workers. When I got home, I checked the Twitch stream. I see my puppy playing with another dog who was getting a little rough with her so my puppy reciprocated the behavior back. All three staff members were on their phones off in a corner and not paying attention to what was happening. Puppies are gonna make mistakes and will learn from each other, but it's also important to intervene and break up play behavior that should be corrected. The lack of supervision made me concerned so I decided to stay on the stream the rest of the day to see what happens when I leave my puppy in the hands of MG. My biggest regret is not pulling her from their care sooner. Watching the stream, I eventually learned that I'm paying $50/day to witness distracted staff failing to properly supervise no more than 7~ dogs (they take 30~max so this was a small group). Most of the scheduled activities never happened. One staff member was always down on her phone and another staff member sat most of the time preoccupied doing personal activities and calls. If a puppy yelped or something to interrupt her from her device, she would get frustrated and shout the puppies name over and over again in a negative tone until finally getting off her stool to intervene. At several points she yelled my puppy's name over and over again followed by "no!" from her seat. At one point she even stomped her foot down after saying my pups name. Anyone who has bothered to learn basic puppy training knows that you should NEVER use a puppies name repeatedly like that or for correction. It can cause stress, increase the energy level, and make things worse. Calling a dog's name should also only be used positively to make hearing their name a good thing. It can impact recall and regress in training. That same night my puppy had her graduation from Seattle Puppyworks (highly recommend) She's been attending puppy play 4x/week for well over a month there in addition to training classes. Without mentioning what happened at MG that day, 5 minutes into class the trainer immediately noticed something wrong. She asked me if my puppy had a bad experience today because she wasn't her usual self or responding well. My puppy on a regular day is very playful and sweet. Never had any issues prior at Puppyworks. I hope the owners take my feedback into serious consideration w/who they are hiring. I know it can be hard to find experienced staff, but it's crucial to have staff with proper training on how to handle puppies in terms of how to properly correct bad behavior, intervene, and practice positive reinforcement. With a new business that's been open for only several months, it's unfortunate that some of the staffs carelessness & poor training knowledge fails to meet the great potential I know Martha's Garden can become. There's positive reviews on the dog bar meetups, and maybe that is their strong suit where owners are present. But for the sake of safety and training of my dog, I will unfortunately need to look for daycare somewhere else. read more

Love the daycare. My dog seems to really enjoy it, she is always eager to go in, and starts yipping in the car when she knows we're getting close. Love to watch the twitch stream, and see photos and the report cards! The indoor dog park/bar time is great too! I know that the Martha's Garden dog daycare opened in February and has been running well for the last several months. They just open the bar on the weekends starting April 24. The bar is open in the evenings after the daycare wraps up. We were at the bar last Saturday afternoon. There's about 25 people and about 20 dogs for most of the time we were there. A lot of really good energy in the room. The people were interacting with one another. Everyone enjoyed watching the dogs play and get to know one another. I would definitely recommend stopping by Martha's Garden with your dog. read more

Martha's Garden is the best! My Shiba Inu can be difficult, and used to be really shy with other dogs and withdrawn. After two months with Shannon and Cecily and the rest of the team, she's become a whole new dog -- on walks she goes up to strange dogs now, she lets others sniff her butt, and she even pulls to go to the dog park (and tries to go to Martha's and paws at the door to be let in). I credit Martha's Garden with all of that. They are all super nice people, and they care a lot about all of the dogs. They know each dog by name, and spend time engaging them in activities individually, instead of just having a big empty room and calling it a day. The space is really clean, and they add a bunch of interesting things like "scent paths" to keep the dogs interested. They are careful about separating problem dogs, and they take the time to write really nice report cards, with photos of your dog and assessments of his/her behavior that day. On a few occasions I've had scheduling issues and they've always been really understanding and kind about it. Cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

I am a big fan! The staff seemed so loving and gentle and was great about helping my dog get reacclimated to socialization. My dog LOVES people but can be timid around groups of new dogs after pandemic isolation and the staff picked up on this immediately and kept an eye on my dog during her stay after her assessment. I loved being able to watch her warm up throughout the day with their video feed, she seemed stimulated by the activities, the facilities were clean and organized and the photos & report card at the end of the stay were the cherry on top! I plan to bring her back regularly for the exposure. It was also lovely that all the dogs were similarly sized, so I didn't worry too much. read more

Awesome place!! We are visiting from San Francisco and we haven't heard of something like this! We don't have a dog but that's was okay! Awesome big layout such cute dogs, owners were chilling and having a beer. We grabbed a beer and sat at the stools and watched all the dogs playing together it was really fun and I loved it! This is our dog Bernie's favorite place to be! We live right down the street and we can't take him for a walk around the neighborhood without him pulling his way towards Martha's Garden. We've been taking him since he was a pup, it's been almost 2 years. Through his time at Martha's, we watched him transform from a shy and timid puppy to a gregarious and playful dog with many friends of all sizes. As a smaller breed, I never have to worry if he's safe during his play days there, because they are so attentive and take such good care of the dogs. I love that they have activities each day and get taken on short walks. The owner clearly cares about each dog, and I definitely trust that they are taking proper precautions amidst the respiratory stuff that is going around. Bernie thrives from his playtime there and socialization with the other dogs. We look forward to using their boarding services soon, I know he would have a great time, almost like a doggo slumber party I wouldn't feel good about boarding him anywhere else! read more

Awful customer experience-they cancelled our initial assessment and didn't tell me until we got there because they didn't have a negative fecal test-EVEN THOUGH after showing them the proof and email of when it was sent TWO WHOLE WEEKS AGO, they gave me the lamest excuse then that they were "at capacity" and walked away. THANK YOU for saving my day! After 10 unsuccessful attempts with Rover to find a dog sitter, I gave up and decided I wasn't going to the Monet exhibition at 10 a.m. at the Seattle Art Museum. I was visiting from LA, it was my last day in Seattle and Cujo (my pup) was acting out. At 9 a.m. I decided to try one last time for him to stay at the room without howling while I monitored him with Furbo.  I decided to run him for 15 minutes as far as I can and 15 minutes back to wear him out, of course using Google maps since I was new in the city. Checking the map to find our way back, there it was, Martha's Garden . The staff was superb, the place looked great!, immediately I felt a wave of relief. While trying to catch my breath, i tried to explain the whole situation to the owner who was extremely understanding, especially since it was a last minute situation. I was mumbling, my dog was howling and pulling, and the owner was in Zen mode, catching every single need I was asking. I'll bet i was their worst situation and they handled it perfectly. Later they called me to say he was calm and doing good.  I checked their website cam and all the pups where super happy playing and having a good time. Can't even bring my dog here for the nighttime dog park without a big untrained dog following him and nipping at his ears. Owners don't care if their dogs are playing inappropriately and doesn't seem like the people at Martha's do either. Losing one monthly member to accommodate a bunch of random, and unruly big dogs that only come once. Really sad because this used to be our favorite place and used to refer tons of people. Not anymore and will be cautioning any people I have already referred. Was so excited to find a safe place for small dogs, but that was months ago and now it's just a free for all for untrained dogs. read more
