I've been very happy with my apartment, nothing has required maintenance except for a leak a few days ago which was fixed within the hour since it was considered an emergency. No major issues and anytime I brought up a minor issue in conversation the office staff always offered to put in a ticket and I would turn them down. The original office staff of four ended up leaving completely and there was a period of churn until they secured a new permanent manager and maintenance folks. I've never lived anywhere that didn't have office turnover so that wasn't terribly surprising. The original staff of Heather and Brittiany (not a typo) were awesome. Heather was the best apartment manager I've ever had. The new crew of Melissa and Jinny (not a typo) are also really great. I haven't spent as much time around them but they are very friendly and helpful, I have zero complaints. The grounds are very nice, a few lakes with fish and visiting geese, ducks and bullfrogs. I saw some ducks grow up this summer and they'll walk around me if my puppy isn't around which is cool, not sure if that's normal for ducks or not. The dog park is very large, definitely the largest I've ever seen at an apartment complex. Lots of neighbors with dogs who visit the park (and who aren't jerks) so my puppy gets a lot of exercise and socialization. You can also walk to Horrocks easily which is a great perk. I like this side of town and most of the places I actually like are a short drive away. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this complex. As with anywhere you ever live, please actually read your lease. Things like the procedure for moving out, charges for damage, those are all important and you need to know if you agree with them before you sign. Thanks for reading.

The front apartments next to the office looks like a piece of dump and the people that live there seem shady too, but when you drive around into the back (white apartments) they are nice with grad students, elderly, and young small families that live there. PROS: spacious rooms some have fireplaces washer and dryer in units high ceilings close to the highway Cons: trailer park next door away from campus the girl at the front desk always seem like "wth do i need now?" i would say i miss living at this place. cannot find any place like it...

He's the kind of landlord who brings over homemade cookies when he visits to do maintenance. The house I rented was about 100 years old and does need some renovations. I relocated out of state before he could solve the bat problem, which was the only major issue I had. It may sound strange to miss a landlord, but I do! If I ever move back to Michigan, I would hope to rent from him!

Most recently they have started to charge us a flat rate for water and heat in addition to our rent and new renters insurance fee. Mind you water and heat was previously included in our rent. Despite my misgivings about how DTN would charge you for air if they could, they do have an amazing maintenance team. Our maintenance requests are taken care of in a timely fashion, and an emergency number is available for residents to call anytime of the day/week. As for location, it is adjacent to the highway but we haven't had any issues with noise bar some occasions. The neighborhood that the complex is situated in has a large park not too far away and is great for walking/jogging.

They have been very accommodating and easy to work with, especially when I signed the lease just a few weeks before the fall semester started. Maintenance is responsive, and quick to fix things. There was a section of time where my heater didn't work properly, and the maintenance was professional and courteous, despite me having called them to repair it over and over after it broke several times. Everything they did, whether it was work orders or in home tours, they contacted me well beforehand to give me advance warning, which allowed me to clean up the apartment before they arrived. The neighborhood is really quiet, and I haven't heard any partying since I got here. It was a good environment to study and relax. The rooms are well lit, and well ventilated, making it easy to concentrate on studying. There are a lot of convenient places to eat around here, especially due to its close proximity to Frandor Shopping Center, however, it is a bit of a walk (~15 minutes). The closest bus stop to get to campus is the #1 bus stop at the bottom of Frandor, so a car is advised if you don't want to deal with the cold and snow in winter. The highway runs right beside Madison Apartments, so if you want to travel, it's pretty easy to access the highway. Personally, I find that the highway really helps me sleep at night, however, I can see how it might annoy some others. Ordering packages to be delivered can be a pain sometimes, since there isn't an adequate place to leave the packages, unless someone lets the mailman inside the complex. My advice would be to use FedEx and UPS' options to drop at a nearby store. UPS has a store in Frandor, and FedEx has one right outside of MSU campus, making both areas easy to access if you are a student. Internet is only offered by Comcast and AT&T, which has decent internet but can be a bit annoying due to disconnects. There is fiber-optic that is expanding into the neighborhood, and I believe they've already contacted early adopters to start their plans. I do not know if the apartments here have it yet, but I believe that it might be a better deal than Comcast or AT&T if they do manage to have it. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Madison Apartments. I really liked the apartment itself, as well as the neighborhood around it. Getting to places might be a bit difficult if you don't have a car, but I didn't think it was too bad. The management and maintenance are really easy to communicate with. If I hadn't already signed on with other roommates to a different place, I probably would've continued my lease here, but it's definitely on the table if I decide to live somewhere else in Lansing after a year.

This company is calling owners of rental houses and lying to them, claiming houses are unsecure to try to steal business. In Fall 2021, I moved into a new1b1b apartment at Berrytree. Everything went well, until I did the Move-In Inspection. I notice there are many furniture in the apartment what I didn't expect to have, I told them please move out those furniture.Guess what, they existing in my apartment until I move out! I put a mark on the inspection paper that said the sofa was damaged with many scratching marks, but after I moved out they still charged me three hundred for that "trash". Back to the topic, I just graduated from MSU and got a master's offer from UT-Austin. During this summer, I am preparing to find a new apartment in Austin. The dramatic thing happened, after I finished my application, the new apartment told me I have an unpaid rent. My application was be denied.Then I found out that Berrytree charge me six hundreds dollar when I move out and didn't let me know. They just gave this to a collection company WITHOUT ANY, I mean ANY notice(NO Email and No phone calls ) to me before they did that. So, my credit score dropped from 750 to 605 and I have an unpaid rent record on my credit history. I feel so angry and helpless. I don't know why Berrytree did that to me. Is that because I am an international student so they think they can charge me extra money for no reason and put me in this despair situation. I am going to Austin for my future study this August, but I can't rent a public apartment there. If I get any notice saying " oh you have an unpaid balance on your account, if I think yes that's what I need to pay I will pay it or I will figure out a way to fix it. Credit is very important to everybody. I am in China right now, the communication between me, the collection agency and the new apartment in Austin are very diverse. I can't sleep well for almost two weeks. I just need explanations from Berrytree and Fairness to all future residents, especially international students and Chinese students!
