I took my partner here for their birthday. I asked someone who worked there if they had any plants safe for cats, and she was really helpful and informative. (I think she said her name was Mackenzie, but I don't have a very good memory unfortunately.) She was able to show me a lot of different cat-friendly plants that they had, and I decided to get a prayer plant. I had also called ahead of time and asked if they carry carnivorous plants, and they do! It's a small selection and the person who helped us said they sell out quickly, but my partner was able to get a decently sized, healthy venus fly trap for pretty cheap. Overall, it's a pretty good place with lots of different options for everyone. House plants, some succulents, carnivorous plants, trees, flowers, and even some tomato plants and berry bushes. Just shopped at Martins for my fall flowers and while checking out they have a loyalty program that uses your phone number. When I gave the very nice cashier my number, she said she was from that area, where did I used to live. Turns out she lived one town over from me and we shared a comment/joke about the politics that we moved from. Out of nowhere come a women named MacKenzie, who was in no way any part of our conversation, and gets in my face with raised voice telling me off about those northern politics and condescendingly calling me sweetheart and asking g me if I like 'sweet tea'! I was so taken aback and, frankly, a little freaked out as she was a little wild eyed and then starting g hitting my flowers I had purchased! I have shopped here for many years for spring and fall flowers as well as indoor plants but I hesitate to come back. The cashier was a witness to all this so she can corroborate this incident and she was trying to explain to me this MacKenzie's behavior. Not a great look for Martins with customers being berated! And she wasn't even involved in the conversation but she needed to make her feeling known! This happened Saturday, November 22 at about 330 pm. Apparently Reggie, the owner, was gone for the day when I asked to talk to her. read more

I absolutely love this place. If you need any plants or trees, advice, or anything to do with the garden, this is where to go. Their selection is amazing. Considering that I can go anytime and get all the information, and often tips and tricks, to make my planting a success the prices are a great value. Compared to large retailers you definitely get your money's worth here. I have benefited so much from the classes offered to customers. After taking their vegetable classes we started our own garden and it has been a huge success. We are having bumper crops of organic vegetables for two years now, all because of what we learned here and the superior quality of the plants and soil we got from Martin Garden Center. read more

When we pulled off the main road to a narrow street that seemed to be leading us to the middle of nowhere, we were quite doubtful about going to buy new succulents. See ours had died after 8 months of neglect. Sorry to our spiky friends - I forgot to water them a lot and granted they are succulents but they still need some water. We drove up to Martin Garden Center and were shocked by how immense the place is! There's multiple greenhouse areas and probably a few acres of outdoor area with so much green and beautiful flowers. We spent a good hour just walking around and checking out all the unique plants they had. In the checkout area, they also have tons of gardening tools, decor and awesome smelling soaps and lotions. I couldn't resist and bought myself a rose scented soap bar. The staff were super friendly! We asked their advice for taking care of the new succulents and they gave us great recommendations. read more

Many thanks to fellow Yelper Michelle P. for raising my awareness of this Greenville gem. I found some of the most beautiful indoor and outdoor plants here, along with pots, decor, and all of the fertilizer help you need from some of the most knowledgeable and fun people. And get this - on Mondays (until March) at 4:00 they host 'Martini Mondays' with free sippin' and learnin', with the martini flavor coordinating with new topic each week. What a hidden treasure. It was so nice to discover this garden utopia. Who knew Martin's nursery had been here for over 50 years and it's the largest greenhouse in the upstate?! Fiddle Leaf Fig! I've been scouring the big box stores only to find that Martin's carried them all along. I found the the perfect size plant, and it was perfectly priced. They had many options and sizes to choose from. Reggie, the owner, was delightful and so knowledgeable with questions. I can't wait to bring my mom and friends back. read more

Have been here several times over the years and April 2021 spent over $1000 on tree and some bushes for our new home. July one of the bushes died. Spoke with Martin's about replacement and was told plants only have a 30 day warranty. I will never buy here again. Lowes and Home Depot have a 1 year warranty. No questions asked. read more

Just so you know, during the school year don't attempt to go here between 1:30-3:30 because the street to get in the parking lot is blocked by parents waiting to pick their kids up from the school nearby. Martin Nursery is the answer to all of your gardening needs. Home Depot and Lowe's are ok when it comes to plants and flowers, but this place offers so much more. At Martin Nursery, you can stroll through rows upon rows of lush greenery and flowering plants in the vast indoor and outdoor gardens. You can also choose from a huge variety of attractive urns, small and large pots, specialty planters (some hand painted; some in unique shapes and sizes, which I love), topiaries...the list goes on and on. Personal attention is also a plus. Although I really enjoy gardening and all things related to it, I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to selecting plants and how to care for them properly. By the way, if someone could fill me in on how to keep a basil plant alive longer than two weeks I would greatly appreciate it. Anyway, all of this is to say I was very impressed by the swift, efficient service I received from the moment I arrived to when it was time to load my car with all the goodies. The staff weren't intrusive, yet someone was always at the ready if I needed assistance. Nothing but rave reviews for Martin Nursery. Have to say Martin Garden is a wonderful place. I had picked up few succulents in very small pots and now it was time to transfer them to new and big pots. I wasn't sure what kind of potting soil or rocks would be required. One of the staff, Liz, walked me through the process and recommended the exact mix that would be required for my succulents to grow. She was knowledgeable and answered all my questions without trying to sell other plants or fertilizers. By the way they also have herbs. The sage, rosemary and thyme to name a few. They had distinct freshness in them. Will be heading there soon. If you are beginner in growing plants then you should head to MG, they will help you with everything.
