I had an appointment here yesterday to have my wisdom tooth extracted! When I got there the first thing I noticed was that the place had no air in the waiting area. Then as I began to look around, I was mortified by what I saw! Spiderwebs all in the corners of the walls, then I looked up at the ceiling in the receptionist area and the ceiling was falling down, it had gigantic holes in it from what looked like water damage! A lady came out of the restroom with a face that said do not enter! I asked her was it nasty in there and she said yes! At that point I walked out! The receptionist texted to see where I went and I simply told the truth! It was unkept and didn't feel comfortable letting them work on me with the building looking like it looks! I wonder if they use the same utensils on people, or do they sterilize their utensils! I would not recommend this place at all! The doctor is said to be great, but your facility should match that and it just doesn't do it for me! Stay away from this place if you care about your health! read more

Dr. Martina is a very knowledgeable surgeon and really great bedside manner. Bedside manner for painful and uncomfortable dental surgeries is key because patients comfort is more important. She does provide local anesthesia in office so if you want to get dental work like tooth extractions and bone grafting and tooth implants and not have to worry about feeling a thing and get it done. This is office to go to . You do have to be patient as a patient and be flexible with time because anesthesia is serious and ever my persons reaction to wake up and recovery response is different and can vary so be mindful of waiting times. Think about other medical offices wait times to be seen also have long wait times. And make sure your insurance is approved before going and wasting your time and theirs. read more

My niece came here to have a wisdom tooth to be removed. And this Martina Laifook surgeon stitch my niece's gum to her cheek! Then lied when my sister went in with my niece and told her she did that on purpose to "join" it. Somehow this important part of the surgery wasn't told to my niece when it happened so she would have never known this was done in her mouth if we hadn't gone to her regular dentist. Oh and the best part is this "joining" her cheek to gum wasn't done on the opposite side of her mouth. Before that at the beginning of today, we had to call to find out if the surgeon was there or when she would be coming in. Was told they would call when she was in. Had to call back and was lied to that they sent a text message. Also, this lady went on about my sister being Trinidadian and she is too, and apparently, we treat her badly..... She is compassionate, humble, and kind. receives you with a big smile and a very warm greeting, she is fast and very thorough, I went sat in the dental chair she spoke to me made me comfortable checked all my vitals, and kept checking, The next thing I was up and awake didn't feel a thing and with no pain at all. The worst experience ever I had a 1145 appointment I didn't get seen until 2 hours later after arriving early. I asked the assistant how long the surgery will be she says "all day" I don't know what type of response that is. I finally get into the room and the doctor came and shook my hands introducing herself then left the room came back 5 minutes later and did the same introduction again as if she didn't recognize me The paperwork was all screwed up dr laiflook told me the girl that did my paperwork doesn't work there anymore she had a so what kind of attitude. When I began to express my inconvenience she got really rude and told me if I could pay out of pocket I wouldn't need insurance so fight with them and not her. She was very boastful about her position I felt threatened and belittled by her. I grew angry with her as well and the minute I told her maybe she needs to take a break from practicing she called the cops on me as if I killed her dog She lied to the police and refused to treat me I wouldn't send my dog to her if she were a vet. Very rude and obnoxious The condition of the waiting room was disgusting the carpet was unsafe for patients to walk and the furniture were soiled. The office made an appointment for me to get 4 teeth extracted under general anesthesia. I couldn't eat or drink after 730a.m. My appointment was for 3pm and by 6pm I still wasn't seen. I left. The receptionist told me in order to come back I had to pay $50. Come to find out my dental insurance didn't approve or cover the expense of anesthesia because extractions was a procedure I should be awake for. They tried to scam my insurance and me out of $50. Place is unprofessional, no empathy and full of excuses. I changed my HMO so they weren't my only option anymore! read more

First off let me just say that In these new times we live in I.E covid era Dr. Laifook spares no expenses in order to make sure that every precaution is taken when it came to disinfecting every room in the clinic not to mention she is very good at making you feel at home and relaxed. So yea I might have had to wait a little longer than usual but NORA was so cool and accommodating that it made it seem like it was not wait at all, she actually was absolutely awesome with her bubbly personality and great sense of humor she definitely made my experience very pleasurable. As far as the surgery goes it couldn't have been more professional. For someone like me that has deathly fear of dentists and anything to do with my mouth this was a breeze! Cheryl (front desk) is horribly rude. My mother had an 11 am appointment today and was there promptly at 10:45 (knowing she'd need to fill out paperwork), but was not allowed in. I then called the office to let them know my mother was outside (less than 15 min early at this point) for her 11 am. Cheryl (front desk/reception) rudely said they don't let anyone in until 11am. I've never heard of a doctor's office that doesn't ask the patient to arrive 15 min earlier to fill out paperwork. Ok, now it's 11 am, but they won't allow me to go in with my mother who's a senior citizen, and help her with the paperwork. My mother also has difficulty getting around on her own. I had to just drop off my mother, to return to pick her up at 3pm. Unfortunately, my mother had questions about the paperwork (that's why I needed to be with her). Cheryl was rude to her and that resulted in my mother being so upset, she left. My mother was supposed to be put under for a procedure, but no longer trusted where she was. And without me with her, she was uncomfortable staying there alone. Thank goodness she came across some firemen at the VIP Diner close by. They called me and I picked her up. Dr. Martina Laifook may in fact be a wonderful oral surgeon, but unfortunately Cheryl is the person people meet before being in Dr. Laifook's. Cheryl has done a serious disservice to your practice, Dr. Laifook. People do read reviews and they can help or hinder a business. This is long overdue. Dr. Laifook performed my dental implant surgery over 10 years ago. I had 3 implants done at once which also required grafting. In those 10+ years I have moved numerous times and seen many dentists. Her work is so outstanding that every one of those dentists looks at my X-rays and comments how they are the best implants they have ever seen. Dr. Charles Perle, who was my childhood dentist, created the the teeth for the implants. I remember back then Dr. Laifook telling me he was one of the best. Your experience was a mirror of mine. I was in pain when called to schedule the removal of my last wisdom tooth....and had to wait almost three weeks They day of my surgery, they tried to reschedule me because Laifook realized she "had to be in South Jersey for an engagement"... Wait what?! I was on my way from work in the city and was in too much pain to agree. Would you believe that when I got there, they tried to not admit me?! Sayin "that's why they called to reschedule" After making a huge stink, the doctor agrees to do it. But no after 30 mins and listening to the rude comments from her staff and her...just because I didn't wanna accommodate her sudden change. Wouldn't you know, I got a racked up bill full of charges a few months later. Tried to dispute them with my insurance company and it didn't work and eventually had to pay out because they sent it to collections. The staff is RUDE! and their service is deplorable. read more

I made an appointment for a consultation and was quoted $670.00 on the day of Surgery the staff informed me after I woke up from Anesthesia that the price doubled "because the wisdom tooth was stubborn" I was highly upset because I would not have gotten service for this price. Also, how was it that she did not know with all of her experience and from seeing the x-rays the job I needed and quote me from 670-1340. I tried speaking to her but could only speak to a rude office manager. I never paid her the balance because I found it unfair. I am not in collections. People get these quotes in writing so that this does not happen to you. This was not the only issue, You wait a long time to be seen. The staff treat you like you're not a paying patient. The thrown you into a dark room to recover with no medical supervision. I almost fell. I could take it to court but it will cost way more money and time than the outstanding balance is worth. Like any doctors office appointments don't mean much. I waited for 4 hours before I was seen for surgery. They were minimally staffed and unprofessional at the reception desk. Upon getting through that excruciating wait I was provided with service. Dr. Laifook explained the procedure and got on with it. I woke up in a room with all of my belongings until my partner came and walked me out to the car. I couldn't eat for a couple of days. The following day I threw up while driving. Once the anesthesia wore off I was okay. The stitches felt strange in my mouth. I was not contacted for follow up. read more

Someone called in for a last minute appointment at 11:30 (stating they are paying cash) and when they got in at 12pm this person was able to see the doctor right away. meanwhile they put me in a cold room to wait until 1:20pm to see the doctor. While noticeably and crying because all I wanted to do was get home to my son Martine Liafook did nothing to help the situation. I was so upset about having to wait so long for Martina Laifook to see me, she tried to make light of the situation but actually insulted me by asking if I needed a job because they were short staffed. The issue wasn't being short staffed, the issue is they took the person with a ziplock full of cash over the person who scheduled an appointment weeks in advanced. When I expressed this to the doctor she ripped the IV out of my arm and told me she won't do any work on me. I am so upset and annoyed for wasting 4 hours of my time in this office. The way they handle their customers is repulsive and do not think she should be of service to anyone. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Laifook and her staff! I had a vertical fracture in a root canal, and the endodontist informed me that there was nothing that could be done to save the tooth. She referred me to Dr. Laifook to get the tooth extracted. I was so disappointed that nothing could be done to save the tooth. When I arrived, not only did she ease my fears about the extraction, but she also informed me of the option about getting a dental implant. I had heard of it, but used to think that it was a painful and complicated procedure. Dr. Laifook took the time to explain to me what it entailed, and I immediately could see that she is a very knowledgeable and skilled surgeon. She was very calming and put me at ease. The extraction was pain free and all went smoothly. That further convinced me to come back for the implant. It has been the best decision I have ever made! When I returned for the procedure, I once again received nothing but excellent treatment from Dr. Laifook as well as the staff. They were all very attentive to all of my needs, and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. The surgery and post-surgery procedures were executed precisely as the doctor had advised. The added bonus was the minimal pain and rapid recovery from both procedures. It has been 4 years since I've had the procedures, and I haven't had any issues at all. My whole experience with Dr. Laifook has been great, everything went so smooth. The procedure was pain free, and recovery was quick and easy because of her flawless work. I would absolutely come back here again. The care and concern Dr. Laifook showed me during the procedures makes it easy to highly recommend her to my friends and family. UPDATE: to add to all the waiting problems, I have been bruised bleeding and in pain and no one answers the phone here. It either goes to operator or rings endlessly. Had to take another day off to go to a new dentist to have them make sure my surgical site is not infected and don't correctly. Also looking for how to report this place, I've never had a medical issue that raised such concerns and flags and literally couldn't get in touch with anyone for almost a week. 11:30 appt was taken back at 2:45. Surgery didn't start until way past 3. Mind you, this resulted in me and my fiancé needing to take vacation days and spend the whole day in the dentists office. I could never bring myself to have surgery here because the people in the office are soooooo unbelievably rude. I went in for a consultation and was horrified as I waited and watched the receptionists have repeated hostile interactions with just about everyone who walked in. Of course when it was my turn, they were also totally rude. One woman hissed at me "what is this? this is not a referral." ok, that's what my dentist gave me. you don't need to be so rude about it. it's not like i do this every day. To their credit, once i pointed out how appalled i was by the way they spoke to people, they did dial back the attitude, so maybe if you're desperate and need to go here, you can politely call them out on their horrible customer service skills and you might be able to shame them into being polite to you. I went back to my dentist to get another referral for another oral surgeon bc I just didn't feel comfortable having surgery done here. If they can't even figure out how to talk to patients appropriately, then maybe they just don't care about their patients at all. While waiting for my new consultation appt, my wisdom tooth literally started to crumble, and I was kinda desperate, so I called to see how soon I could schedule an extraction. Again, the person who answered the phone was totally rude, had the worst attitude, got totally snippy with me for no reason, not even a minute into the conversation. Nevermind, I'll wait. I started the process of having my wisdom teeth removed about a year to a year and a half ago. The first time my appointment was booked and I was ready to go in for the procedure, I was advised to not go and to find another surgeon instead by a previous patient who had had a bad experience. So I cancelled my appointment and tried to find another doctor. Eventually I settled for Dr. Laifook because all other surgeons were in their offices only once or twice a month. Whenever I tried to make an appointment, either their system was down or the scheduler was not in. With the exception of one or two people, the staff is not polite. They argue and even yell at patients. The same goes for the doctor who apparently has a prejudice against the people of jersey city. I was finally called in at 1:50 for my 1:00 appointment. The surgical nurse left me waiting in the hallway until she direct me into a room and sat me down. She asked me some questions and the surgeon came in. My first impression of her was very positive. She seemed kind and professional. Nothing like her staff. She put me to sleep and the next thin. I know, I'm awake and there is blood dripping out of my mouth, and onto my shirt. There was no gauze on my extraction sites! My parents were with me and I asked for them to bring in my sisters, so they did. Some time later, the doctor showed up to see how I was. My father was recording me because I was still high off the medication. After seeing that, and my sisters in the room, she then proceeded to yell loudly at my father. She thought the act of him recording and the presence of my younger sisters in the room was "highly inappropriate" and was insinuating that my father was a bad father. She left my room and my father followed. There was a loud exchange of words which ended in her screaming with her hands up in the air, "I'VE HAD IT WITH PEOPLE FROM JERSEY CITY!" I should have never come to this office and I advise whoever is reading this review to go somewhere else. read more

Always has been a long wait to see Dr. Laifook, but overall she is a good dentist. However, Monday received a call from her office wanting to reschedule my appt from Wed to Tues. No problem. On Tuesday, another long wait. After 60 minutes, they asked if I wanted to wait or reschedule. Said would wait. 15 minutes later, they told me Dr said to reschedule. I couldn't take anymore time off work and told t hem again I didn't mind waiting. When they told the Dr. heard her yell from the back room "I don't care. Reschedule. I'm pissed". Well, when you don't care about inconveniencing me, I don't care to use you any longer. I will find a new dentist and would recommend everyone avoid Dr. Laifook as well. read more

I took an appointment with Dr Laifook to remove the Wisdom. I'm not sure how many tooth to remove so she examined all my tooth and told to remove 3 tooth at one time. I told that I have acidity and can't take heavy pain killer. In spite of that she told to remove all 3 and you will alright in 3 to 4 days. She removed my all 3 tooth and Staff want to leave so they woke me up early before I was conscious. My husband took me to home and I was i pain for continuously for more that a week. I contacted again and told that I can't bear the pain then the nurse told that sorry mam you will have the pain for 2 to 4 weeks.I said before surgery you told the pain will be there 3 to 4 days only now you are telling 4 weeks. After that she gave another prescription to take the pain killer. I was feeling better after 2 weeks. Pain again started after 3 weeks so I called the Dr to take an appointment. The nurse is told that we dont have appointment for 3 weeks so go and see the general doctors. The nurse so rude and not giving follow-up appointment. I had a such horrible experience with the dentist especially the nurse. I will never go to this doctor again and request others to think twice before taking appointment. read more

i made this account just to review this doctor. she has gifted hands. i just cannot believe how i did not feel a single point of pain after having my wisdom teeth removed. i was sent to her once in an emergency after a dentist failed to remove one wisdom tooth and left me in severe pain, even though the tooth had already been 'killed.' she took great care of me, and afterwards i went back to her to have another wisdom tooth removed. absolutely no pain. i went back a third time to have the last 2 removed at once, again, absolutely no pain. in fact i was waiting for the pain to kick in after anesthesia wore off, waiting to feel something. nothing, nothing at all. i did not have to take any of the pain medication even. gifted, really. she is gifted. My experience with Dr. Laifook was very very negative. I found her to be the most unprofessional and rude doctor I have ever seen. Upon a simple disagreement I had with one of her employees, she came out and yelled at me without asking me to hear my side of the story. She ranted and raved openly in the office in front of everyone and handled the matter very unprofessionally. Even when one of her other employees indicated that I was innocent, she hushed her up and continued to yell at me. She did not give me an opportunity to speak. She then proceeded to say that she will not take me/my family as a patient again and indicated for me to leave. No ethics or consideration of her clients. I also experienced in the office many mistakes were done. For example, one of the staff members forgot to give my father antibiotics before the surgery until I reminded them. They forgot to input the information I provided on the name of the pharmacy we use so that they can send over the prescription. I also witness one of her staff saying to my father as well as other patients that if they didn't follow instructions prior to surgery (not to eat food or drink prior to surgery) that they would "die" in the chair. The word death was mentioned at least 3 times, which is absolutely not acceptable to talk to patients this way and make them feel stressed, specially for elders who may get anxiety and high blood pressure. Based on my experience, I do not recommend anyone to see her and I hope that no one ever gets disrespected like that or go through what I went through. read more

Thank you Dr. Laifook and staff for your service. I just had 1 of my wisdom tooth remove on Friday 4/21/17. My appointment was at 3 pm. In the morning the office call me to confirm my appointment at 3pm and told me to come 15-20 mins early so they can prep me. My waiting time was about 10 mins, and the nurse call me in to take my blood pressure and take my x-ray and ask for my pharmacy phone number. She makes me feel at ease and comfortable and send me out to the waiting room until the dr. ready for my turn. I was waiting another 10-15 mins until my turn. When I enter the surgery room, the head of the nurse look at my x-ray and explain to me the procedure and have me sign 2 documents before I can sit in the chair. this is the time you should ask the nurse any questions you have. I ask her about the numbness of the medication, how long will it last in me? She said about 4-6 hours or might be overnight . As Dr. Laifook entered the room, there were 3 other nurses in the room assisting her. I feel at ease sorrounded by a group of professional people. Dr Laifook, was very pleasant and ask me a few questions about my back ground and said how she like Vietnamese food when she was studying in Boston. And then as she inserted the the needle of Anesthesia into my arm, she said, I am sending you to "Cancun". I smiled at her and I was out. After it was done not sure for how long, they send me to the recovery room and call my family member in to be with me. I was tired and dizzy from the drug still in me. I vomit a bit, but nothing much come out. This is expected that's why you have to fast on the day you have the surgery. My copay total was $160 which is reasonable depending on what kind of insurance you have. I called other service at Wall street office in new york, they told me for every 15 mins for my Anesthesia and the service that the Dr. spend on me, it will cost me $350 for every 15 mins. The total service is about 2 hours. So 1 of my wisdom would cost me over a thousand dollar easily regarding I have insurance or not. When my brother car arrived, the nurse and my dad help me out to the car, I stay with my mom and dad that night because they want to keep an eye on me. When I got home, I got a text from my CVS pharmacy that my medicine is ready to be pick up. I sent my sister to pick up the medication for me and get me some jello to eat. The 1st night was rough, because I still feel a bit dizzy. I ate some jello, drink some orange juice and a cup of rice soup for my dinner so I don'f feel hungry. I constantly gargle with warm salt water because it ease the pain and it disinfect the wound from the surgery. I took the antibiotic as suggested by the dr. to reduce the inflamation. But for the pain, depending on your pain, I took the regular ibuprofen (2x) of 200mg. Avoid taking "Acetaminnophen-COD #3" if you don't have to, this drug will make you feel dizzy and vomiting. After 30 hrs, I am back to normal now. I just want to thank you Dr. Laifook and her staff for doing their part of serving the community with your hard work and dedication. Your hard work is greatly appreciated. As for my part, I will try take good care of myself. read more
