We work with master gardeners and designers so we don't generally hire LJ for landscaping. The total paid to LJ including labor and supplies was approx $30,000. Many of the projects were completed to our delight, some to our satisfaction, and most recently we noticed a slip in quality. Overall we recommend LJ. And would suggest Ro anyone engaging them to walk everything down - grading, elevation, proper footing, dimensions, methods TWICE. Go over everything twice. Make sure you are on the same page and that the final intended put-through end result is CLEAR. Denchfield has consistently kept our yard looking nice at a reasonable price…read more Unfortunately, we have to discontinue service with them after 4-5 years because they have proven themselves incapable of providing advance notice before applying toxic pesticides to our yard. We have a dog with chronic kidney failure who runs free in the backyard, so it's critical for us to know when there will be chemicals in the yard that he should not be exposed to for 48 hours. Not only do we receive no advance notice, but we have sometimes discovered Denchfield employees applying pesticides to the yard *while the dog was following them around out there.* How absurd! We complained repeatedly, but to no avail. This week Denchfield applied pesticide without warning or permission (or contract--we have yet to renew for the year) to our yard for the last time. We are outraged. In addition to forcing us to keep the dog out of the yard for the next two days, this puts a serious damper on our upcoming weekend, which we were planning to spend doing yard work. In fact, this more or less ruins our spring planting. We've been told that new grass, which we were wanted to seed this weekend, will not sprout for up to 6 weeks after application of weed killer.

When issues arose, I even paid an additional $1,000 for them to return and fix the wooden wall. Despite this, the wall was not properly fixed, and the entire structure is now broken after only three years. The owner refuses responsibility and offers no remedy. He sounded very nice and he immediately came out to provide a free estimate. I checked with my coworkers and they were blown away with how affordable the estimate was in comparison to their experiences with other tree services. Edwin came out with his crew and efficiently and safely cut down and removed the tree. They also cut some other scary looking branches on nearby trees. My wife and I were so impressed with their service. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend.

A small team returned the next day to complete part two of the job, demonstrating great commitment. Not only did they leave my backyard looking even neater than when they arrived, but Manuel's team also went above and beyond by weeding and mulching the front yard and side yard (not pictured) with extra mulch at no additional cost -- even though it wasn't part of the original scope. Pricing was extremely fair, and the quality of work was excellent. Manuel truly lives up to the positive reviews I read beforehand, which is why I decided to give him a try. Huge thanks to the previous reviewers and to Manuel for a fantastic job! P.S. - I called Manuel for one quote at my rental property for fencing. He did well to meet me on time and get me a quote in Baltimore County. I did not do that project at all, but appreciated his promptness that I asked him a couple of weeks later to quote this project. Once again, came when he stated he would come and got me a quote. Scheduling quotes with landscapers can be tricky, but Manuel came through on time and priced well both times.
