We got this to-go on a Wednesday and the place was hoppin'. Service was a little slow but everyone was working hard. I had the brisket sandwich. It had a great smoked flavor. I tried the regular sauce and the mustard-based sauce. The regular was better with the beef. I also had the cornbread pancake. It was a little burnt so the flavor of the corn wasn't apparent. Someone explain to me WHY is the Martin's in Nolensville lousy compared to the one by Belmont, which is always fantastic! This is probably the 10th time I've ordered from the Nolensville location and it's the last. Ordered a brisket burger and they forgot the brisket, my order of fries were super small. But the main thing is the food isn't quite consistent, it's just not as good in general. Note to self...ALWAYS eat at the Belmont location from now on! We did get some pulled pork that was very finely pulled, which isn't my fav, so I will not be back for that and I did not appreciate the very liquid-y BBQ sauce that was on the table - maybe I just don't appreciate that type of BBQ it was! Went here as it's a DDD which means Guy Fieri went there and he goes to the best places. Got the redneck taco which was featured on the show. Also got smoked wings and hush puppies. The cornbread hoecake was delicious! The restaurant has a garage door that provides open air in warmer months. Service was good. They have a peach soda which was unique and yummy. This was our fourth or fifth trip to Martins and we love them, more so since moving to Nolensville last year. Let me first of all complement them on the good stuff. The main reason for coming, the real deal, is the BBQ. We ordered pulled pork and Brisket and both were Smokey and cooked perfectly low and slow and moist just like BBQ should be. Perfect stuff. And the Fries, coleslaw and the Mac and Cheese were outstanding and first rate. But I have to mention the green beans. I am from the south and like southern green beans cooked Southern style but these were mushy and overcooked. And this isn't the first time we have experienced this. We order them because we are trying eat Keto and stay away from the carbs (which we love). These need to be pulled off the heat after they are cooked and kept warm. If it were not for this, I would rate them five stars. But I make this suggestion lovingly because the meat is the main deal here and they have that down pat. Martin's Bar-B-Que is bomb-smackin BBQ one of my favorite stops whenever I'm in Tennessee. Plenty of BBQ joints I still need to try, but I keep coming back here for a reason. The ribs and brisket? Straight-up next level tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. And don't even get me started on the BBQ sauces... legit, no notes, just perfection. I've watched Pat Martin on Taste Made's Life of Barbecue, and man, I could binge those episodes all day. This guy is deep in his roots, and you can taste it in every bite. Respect. Man oh man Martins is the spot! Was recommended to check this place out by a local government official during a business trip and Im glad I made the Uber ride over! Even coming in a bit later than normal dinner, the service was super friendly and the food, well thats the real star here! We came in a big group so everyone got a little of everything and it was all amazing! Im a sucker for smoked sausage and Martins delivered! We have been going to Martin's Nolensville since he opened.Before he got way too big to keep track of all of them.The Downtown store gets all the attention.We love good brisket.Martins has failed big time and it has been going on a very long time.We order to go because we live close.When you buy a pound,it will be all rolled up like a football.When you open,there is just one blob of meat and fat.I just got the brisket plate June 10th.1slice and the rest chunks of fat mixed in with some meat.It cost $24. Even the sides were not filled properly.This has been addressed with management many,many times,for a very long time.I was assured over and over that they will start putting actual slices of meat.That never,ever happened.Only because if they don't do what's right,we will be done with Martin's Nolensville. This place is super cute bbq place with a very vintage, eclectic atmosphere. I love the license plates that cover the walls that make you feel like you're traveling around the US! The staff were all fantastic. Friendly, quick, and responsive. The food was where it fell short. We haven't been here in a year or two and we're really disappointed in how much the quality had declined from our last visit. From our memory the prices have gone up, but the quantity of meat you get has decreased. The pulled pork was on the dry side and definitely required some sauce to bring some life back to it, but I was able to make a pretty decent pulled pork bbq sandwich with some Mac n cheese and bbq sauce on it. The brisket platter was definitely not worth the $22. We smoke brisket often and understand it's an expensive cut, but for $22 you should get more than 2 slices of brisket. One of those slices was exclusively fat (typical with brisket, but disappointed in the lack of lean meat). We expressed there was very little meat for the price and they were quick to bring out a couple of leaner pieces to add. The nachos were good, but the coleslaw maybe would've been better on the side than on top. There also was very very little pork on the nachos. The coleslaw was delicious though! The beans and Mac n cheese were just as we remembered... delicious! All that being said, I'm not sure we'll go out of our way to make here in the near future. Friendly and helpful staff along with great tasting BBQ. Plenty of seating and parking. We got here are 3 pm on a Friday and it wasn't to busy but by the time we left it started to pick up. We ordered the big brother platter to split between my husband and myself. That comes with half a rack of ribs and brisket and 2 sides which we picked potato salad and cornbread hoecakes. Plus we got two sodas everything came out to like 35 bucks which is a good deal for what you get. The ribs were meaty and cooked to perfection and fell right off the bone. Brisket was juicy and thick and paired well the bbq sauce they give you. Potato salad was a hit for both of us, had great flavor and nice big chuck's of potatoes. We will for sure be back in the future if not on a monthly basis. This is one of the best rib spots we have tried in TN. read more

I had eaten at the Martin's downtown, and remember it being pretty good, even though it was a long time ago. When I was in town for some meetings, I had a hankering for brisket and some delicious barbecue, and this place fit the bill. I got the brisket, and it was delicious. The perfect amount of juicy, tender, fat, and lean. Good bark on the outside. Great smoke flavor and taste. One of the better briskets that I've had outside of Texas. The beans were surprisingly spicy, and had really good flavor. The corn hot cake, I could take it, or leave it. Not really great, not really terrible. I may have missed it at the counter, but it could've used a little bit of butter and I didn't see any. The location is convenient, fish, with a parking lot, and it's easy to get in and out. The decor was pretty cool and overall the place had a good vibe about it. My gripe really was the service. While the girl at the counter was friendly, she didn't really seem to care, same went for the folks who brought my food out. They drop it off and ask you if you needed anything else, I just wanted to say "I don't know yet I just got my food." Worse yet, they never checked on you... even though you've already given that tip. read more

Martin's is a new place for me. I travel often to the area to visit friends and this was where they brought me for lunch. The place is very large in the inside even with a bar area and a large selection of tables. The menu is easy to understand with great options. Upon ordering, the gentleman was very friendly giving that southern hospitality charm. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of Brunswick Stew for a small upcharge. They give you a number and then promptly bring you your order to the table. They have their own bottle of vinegary spicy sauce on the table. I live North Carolina vinegary sauce so I figured I would give it a try. It was delicious with just the right amount of heat that wasn't over powering. The Brunswick Stew was very tasty. Although it has a slight spin on the traditional NC version, this version had all the great features and I couldn't stop eating it. The place is clean, staff friendly and food is delicious! When Martin's first opened it was a revelation to the bbq scene in middle Tennessee. There really wasn't much to choose from in the first place and then Martin's essentially cornered the market because it was a 10/10. It was truly wonderful. Fast forward to last week and I ended up throwing my ribs in the trash. Literally. They were so, so bad. And burnt. And on top of burnt, they tasted like dirty smoke. Acrid flavor. Just amateur hour stuff. It's really too bad. This place used to be THE place. And now, I'm not sure I'll even try it again. Makes me wonder if they lost their way while they tried to open so many new locations. Aaron Franklin doesn't have more than one location. Neither does Snows. Neither does The Rendezvous. I was there on Saturday and had a lovely pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad. The food was excellent. I'd go back to try the brisket or ribs. I also had a couple of lovely pints, a NC Oktoberfest and a Saison from a TN brewery out of Maryville. The potato salad is mayonnaise based, which is my preference. If you prefer a mustard base, you're out of luck. The bbq is normally topped with slaw, but I asked for mine without. I think good pulled pork should be able to stand on its own, and this does. I've lived in the Middle Tennessee area for 12 years and Martin's will always have a special place in my heart and stomach. The Nolensville location has moved a few times and has grown considerably, even across Tennessee borders. Martin's has a lot of good items on their menu and I've tried most of them but the item I keep going back to is their spare ribs. Martin's is the only barbecue place that I know of in Middle Tennessee that serves their spare ribs whole... Meaning it's not trimmed aka St. Louis style. Now some of you may be asking, what is that? When you trim spare ribs, you are removing the cartilage, little bones, and connective tissue. Now I bet some of you are gagging but let me tell you something. Those rib tips that are intact are fatty, juicy, and yes, crunchy. I will straight up devour that whole chunk of cartilage. It's like dessert to me. Meat dessert. I sometimes interchange getting them wet (with sauce) or dry (with a dry rub). Honestly I think the dry tastes the best. Their fries are some of the best you'll have. Reminds me a lot of the kind you get at Five Guys or Penn Station. They are mix of soft/chewy and hard/crispy. I absolutely adore these kinds of fries. Last but not least, their Brunswick stew is a hearty, meaty, tomato-based stew chock-full of beans and vegetables. Think vegetable soup on steroids (with meat). If that sounds good, you'll love it. My mouth is watering just thinking about Martin's as I write this. Barbecue has grown considerably in Middle Tennessee over the past decade and there are several noteworthy spots. But if you haven't had Martin's, you owe it to yourself to at least try one of the OGs of barbecue in Nashville. read more

During the end of Nashville's snow storm, I was craving some bbq after getting off work (yes my job still had us driving in the ice and snow). Anyways, I used my handy dandy Yelp app to find some great BBQ choices near me and I saw Martin's pop up. I've lived in Nashville for almost 4 years now, and I've never had it before. Big mistake on my end, but I fixed it this year! Pictured is the brisket tacos, which were A1. No complaints, the meat was juicy and 2 tacos and sides were just enough to fill me up. The mac and cheese and baked beans were soooo good. In fact, I ended up getting Martin's twice that weekend (I got the smoked wings my second visit. I highly recommend them too).
