I had a terribly embarrassing situation happen at Martin's. I was with my 13 year old brother picking up wine for my mother. He was trying to order pizza but had bad reception so he stepped outside. When I walked up to the counter to pay, "Bill" (who would not tell me his full name) demanded my brother show his ID. I was willing to show Bill my ID, of course, but told him my brother doesn't have an ID. Bill refused to sell me the wine because he felt we were acting suspicious. What 13 year old drinks Chardonnay? I went to customer service to speak to the store leader and Bill followed me there. He refused to let me see the store leader and embarrassed me in front of customers and cashiers. Bill was condescending and rude. Needless to say, I won't be shopping at Martin's again. I have shopped MARTIN'S for many years & recently started using their pick up service. I love the idea of not going into the store to shop because, let's face it, grocery shopping is over rated. I have never had an issue with the quality of produce, meat, dairy, frozen foods... matter of fact, their meats are awesome. The employees are very friendly but as most of you do, they make mistakes too. My last order for pickup was missing items & 3 days later I realized it. Called them & they filled the order for the missing items free. Now is that good service for a human mistake, yes it is & I'll continue to support local. read more

I have shopped here for over a year now since moving from the York area. Most of the people working there have been kind and helpful with the exception of the Deli department. The women there seem like they hate their job and are miserable. It takes forever for them to acknowledge the customer. I have noticed people deciding to leave rather than wait to be helped. Please have them retake the course on customer service. read more

This place is over priced, has a poor selection,and rest stop cleanliness bathrooms. Their rotisserie chicken is awful. There have been rotisseries there that were made at 10:45am and still under the warmer at 6pm. If it's not burnt it's like rubber or a combination of both. Produce is definitely not "fresh" or at least not what I've seen. read more

DO NOT GET ANY MEAT OR SEAFOOD HERE. We on 2 separate occasions we got sick from this stores food (turkey and shrimp). Both times we were met with horrible customer service. Not only did they refuse to correct the problem, they rudely handled us as customers. They clearly don't care about the health or satisfaction of customers. Truly hope this store goes out of business soon. read more

I went into Duncansville Martins needing to exchange a specific product because I had bought the wrong brand. After being told by multiple employees that I was not allowed to return or exchange, I gave in and decided to purchase the other item I needed. As I walked up to the checkout, Gina had noticed I had two of the same item, but different brands. She asked me if I was purchasing both and I explained to her the situation. She then told me she'd exchange it for me and give me the credit amount back. Gina is a rockstar employee. She was honest, kind and helped me out more than she knew. Thanks Gina! read more

If you have an issue, the service desk is handled by some of the rudest, snarkiest people I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. You'd be better off telling a stranger in the parking lot what your problem is. For those of you who put up with it because of gas points, you do realize that their prices are higher than anywhere else? You are paying for your own rewards. read more

Martin's is a major failure in my book. They have a severe identity problem. They want to compete with WalMart, but never get the pricing right. They are high priced. The only way they even try to compete is by making you join their club membership and you have to present this little card every time you shop in the hopes of getting a sale price. In general, they can't compete price wise with Walmart's everyday lower prices. They want to compete with Wegman's to be a 'high end' food store, but they fail here too. Their product selection does not offer anywhere near the specialty selection of Wegman's. And when you point this out to store management, they shrug their shoulders and are simply indifferent. And don't bother calling their corporate office for any type of better customer service, they are just as indifferent at corporate. Often, they take your name and phone number and say that someone will get back to you to address your concern or complaint, but they never do. Bottom line, shop elsewhere if you are on a budget; and if you are looking for better food or a wider selection to make that special meal you saw on the Food Network, don't bother going here because, more than likely, they are not going to have it. read more

I've been a long time Martin's shopper, and I feel it's the best grocery shore in the area. I rated this one a 4 and the one on Plank Road a 5, though, only because this one is a little small and doesn't have as big of a selection as the other. As long as you are a Martin's/Giant club member, you save a fortune on their products, and the gas points are the best around. Every couple of weeks we save $.50-$1/gallon on gas by buying their discounted products. The staff here is super-friendly, especially at the pharmacy where they know your name and ask how you and your family members are doing. I shop at WalMart and occasionally at Weis or Giant Eagle, but none of them compare to Martin's. read more

They must be overpaid and/or do not have any roots to remember and go by. They always either ignore you or shrug you off. There are TONS of problems at this location and their solution? Pass out Gift Cards to Genuine Customers with Concerns and Solutions for the Community. NOT WITH COMPLAINTS. Managers seem to spend too much time behind the scenes and even the Store Manager has an "odor or hygiene" problem. Doesn't Corporate visit Stores and notice this big HEALTH PROBLEM in a FOOD STORE? If the Leaders are rude, arrogant, smell and try to give you $$$ to shut you up and off their face, think about how the rest of the "team" is in here??? SOLUTION: Shop at Giant Eagle, even Wal-Mart and value your hard earned dollar. They do not deserve it. They do not belong in our nice Community.
