I come here for a sweet treat every now and then as it is very close to my house. And to be completely honest I prefer this place over Peterson's any day. There's a wide variety and everything is fluffy, tender and delicious. I'm not really sure if they produce the donoughts here but they taste very fresh and the prices are incredibly reasonable, for example if you go towards the end of the day they will fill a box up for like five bucks or so. You have to try the ham and cheese jalapeño croissant! Great service and very friendly. read more

Their donuts and their stuffed croissants (ham, cheese, jalapeno!) are excellent. I don't think you can go wrong. The croissant's crust/shell is buttery and flaky and the stuffings are very flavorful. Yummy! read more

At 9:30 on a Saturday morning the selection was weak and there were more empty racks than their were donut filled racks. There were customers in the shop, in line and pulling in. Got a mixed dozen and so far the three we've eaten taste STALE! How can that be? At most they should be 4-5 hours old, right? Is it old oil or what? I am grateful it was $9.75 for a dozen but man, what a disappointment. I only went here because the dry-cleaner in that center is terrific. Will NEVER get donuts here again. Blech. read more

Came here on Saturday morning around 10am and there were lots of selections still. I got a glazed donut and a coffee. The glazed donut was still warm and fresh, it went very well with the coffee :) Coffee was weaker side, but not too weak, not too dark, it was good. read more

Krispy what? Dunkin who? Marts donuts bests them. Their donut has a taste that will surely make you cone back for more. The place is close to the police station in escondido. Many reviews here are mentioning that the area is not safe. Hmmm?? They must have lived in a secluded island or something. read more

Not so great neighborhood not sure why someone said it was. If you wouldn't want to stand alone there at night then I would say it's not a good neighborhood. This Is family owned business . Nothing special just donuts. I just come here because I live close by. I would give this place 3 stars BUT hygiene is a big thing here . I've been here multiple times and the lady/owner I believe is cleaning in the back and she is wearing her dish washing gloves over her latex gloves idk what is she is doing back there maybe:cleaning toilets, cleaning machines , working with chemicals IDK! Well any ways all she does is take her dish washing gloves off and then puts my donut in a bag I think she should start washing her hands ! read more

Love this place! Donuts are always fresh, soft, melt in your mouth. Anytime I'm on that side of town I have to stop! One lady runs the front and even if they are busy she keeps it movin! Nothing against fans of Peterson ' s but these are way better. Yes, Peterson has bigger donuts but they seem to be dry and sometimes seem not fresh? This place is my go to for sure! read more

I came here because its on my way to work to the freeway. I think somedays the donuts aren't that fresh because my girlfriend always wants the jelly filled and sometimes they don't take that good. I always get an old fashion and those are always really good. Never had a problem. Nice owner, friendly atmostphere and its a good donut. read more

Two unbiased donut tasters tried custard-filled, chocolate-iced donuts in 7 shops in Escondido, CA. Evaluations were based on 8 criteria: 1. Overall freshness 2. Oil penetration of dough 3. Dough taste 4. Amount of custard filling 5. Taste and texture of custard filling 6. Amount of chocolate icing 7. Taste and texture of chocolate icing 8. Size of donut Criteria 3 and 8 contained three possible ranks; all others, two ranks, for possible total of 10 points. We gave Mart's an 8. Their donuts were fresh, average-sized, and fragrant, and the dough was slightly crispy outside and light and airy on the inside. The amount and the taste of the filling was adequate. The icing was thick and dark with a rich chocolately taste. Overall, in our test they were average in all criteria, but outstanding in none. A good solid custard-filled donut. read more

These used to be some of the best donuts in town. But their quality has dropped significantly in the last few months. Now the donuts are just greasy bricks. If you squeeze them a bit in between your fingers, your had is covered in grease. Unfortunate. They use to be so good! read more

I remember this place from when I lived and grew up in Esco, 23 years ago. On all of the sporadic weekend indulgent donut trips growing up Mart's had the best donuts and biggest selection. They are almost always busy and it's no wonder being in business so long. Although I don't know if it has the same owner since the beginning, as it has adopted some Asian flare. Either way it is the only place I can find my childhood favorite: its just a plain donut with pink frosting and ball sprinkles (NOT the long sprinkles ;) I was a picky child :) Anyway Mart's is, will be, and was always the best.
