Honestly, I would come here again. Obviously it's not the best sushi, but for the price, it gets the job done. Good for Buffett sushi in a novel delivery method Came here as a trek restaurant. It's a conveyor belt sushi place, those are relatively rare. So I drove to Oxford to give it a try. Took about 45 minutes to get a seat. Restaurant is somewhat small but they did clear tables quickly. Dining in is a flat rate of 35 per person, you get everything but drinks and dessert. You get a tablet and the waitress goes over the process. you can order full rolls and other items from the menu, or you can grab small bites right off the conveyor. Ordered items came quickly, the rolls on the conveyor are fresh, and the quality of the dishes is good for buffet food. Where you're seated does affect what rolls you can grab from the conveyor. Simple rolls were really well stocked, but specialty rolls were sparse and often empty by the time we got to grab. Highlights would be the sushi rice, which was appropriately seasoned and not old. The not so great was the egg fried rice, which was unseasoned and mushy. They probably used fresh rice rather than older rice. It was also a little bland. Beyond the conveyor aspect though, there isn't much here that's great enough to make the trek. It's cool to try once, and compared to some other buffet sushi places they are better than most. As far as AYCE sushi is to be judged, I would definitely rank Maru 67 among the better options. The conveyor belt system is neat to watch but the availability to make orders on the tables tablet and have freshly prepared food delivered via the secondary conveyor system is where they really shine. The quality of the sashimi was not that of comparison to a premium sushi restaurant but well in line for any AYCE tho the Hokkigai was still a bit sandy an the Tuna left much to be desired in its flavor, colors and especially texture. Various apps/rolls/entrees/soup/salad are also included as part of the AYCE dinning, they also have a selection of cold available sake at very reasonable cost. Overall it is was a relatively pleasant experience at Maru 67, the staffing is virtually non existent (granted it's a conveyor sushi restaurant), for the cost it's well worth your money if you don't load up on saucy tempura rolls to quickly and order things like the Yellowtail or the Salmon which where of the freshest tasting and best textured 6.1/10. read more

Life is too short for bad sushi. Im totally going against the grain here. But I've tried numerous sushi restaurants. From the most expensive to gas station sushi. Maru 67 just doesn't have it. I found many of the rolls going around the conveyor belt to be inedible and just not fresh. Many of the special rolls are just slathered in too much sauce and not appetizing. Also its a terrible value for a family of 4. With tax and tip it comes out to be $45 per person. You have to eat a lot. But there in lies the problem. The food is not that good for you to stuff it down. This restaurant wouldn't make it past 6 months if it was in an area like Northern Jersey. That food comes out on a moving tray above the belt. For some reason, I paid for the dinner price even though I went around 12. Maybe because it's Saturday? I'm not sure it wasn't clear to me. My only suggestion for improvement is updating the pictures on the tablet. When ordering, the pictures of sushi rolls show only 3-4 pieces, but when the actual order comes, it's a full-size roll that can be misleading. I couldn't finish the food and felt pretty bad about that. At first they don't accommodate the party until everybody has arrived, so that was kind of annoying. But once we were all there they moved furniture to accommodate our group of seven people plus a four year-old. They were really nice. The food was delicious. The amount of food we got would've probably been more than $100+ at Kura. They even had more deluxe items like toro and salmon belly. The fish was fresh and the rolls were yummy. As a self proclaimed regular who went almost everyday the first 2 months of opening, I can say I love coming here. There are a few limitations when it comes to the options for the lunch menu, however the dinner menu has a few more sushi & sashimi choices. It is a small space & I certainly wish they had bigger booths by the conveyer belt for those who want to come as a group of 4 adults. The booth comfortably could fit 1 adult & 1 small child on each side. You'll be knocking elbows sitting next to another adult. Additionally, I often wish they had bar seating against the back wall for anyone who wanted to go alone. You can get your food by ordering from the iPad as well as taking from the conveyer belt. If you want more than 2 pieces I suggest ordering from the iPad. It usually comes in 4 or 6 pieces depending on the item. The photo on the iPad can be deceiving as some plates pictured show 4 pieces and they send out 6! Remember, order less at a time because you can always order more!!! The conveyor belt is great for those who want to try something without subjecting themselves to an entire roll. They do have Gluten Free soy sauce on the table for those interested. Unfortunately their tempura / fried items are NOT gluten free. If you're Gluten Free or Celiac stay away from the sweet potato roll as well because it has tempura in it. Also, stay away from imitation crab as that typically contains gluten. However a lot of sushi is naturally gluten free as most of it is either vegetable or fish. I have not had an issue with cross contamination. They don't take reservations & sometimes the wait can be as long as 2 hours due to their popularity!!! We know the best times to go, but we will gate keep that!! Sometimes we get the lunch special to go, make sure to grab a menu on your way out!! We believe we are the reason this restaurant exists. Maru 67 is surely worth the wait. This was one of the coolest date night experiences and we can't wait to go back! Our table was super clean and the place is beautifully decorated. The menu and how to order for AYCE was explained by the host since everything is through an iPad style kiosk at each table. The soups, drinks and other plates ordered through the handheld are brought right to your table, or you can grab the rotating sushi from the conveyor belt. There were so many great options and everything was extremely fresh. The menu features a diverse selection of sushi rolls, including classics and creative combinations! The unagi sushi and salmon nigiri were amazing, absolutely two of our favorites because it was just great quality fish. I can't wait to go back! We went closer to 6:30/7pm on Friday and had 25 groups in front of us so absolutely prepare for a wait since it's so new, but it's definitely worth the hype! It's a cute novelty but my side had a broken service tray (the automatic tray the brings food to your booth). Unless you're eating like you're bulking up for Sumo, it's not really a bargain. You don't feel robbed, but they make sure that they aren't losing money by reducing the grade and quantity of the fish in the rolls. I really enjoy good sushi and this was very average. The 2 things I thought were good, were the black pepper tuna and the hibachi shrimp fried rice (although the shrimp tasted boiled and had a strange texture). My adult children liked the miso soup and said it's hard to screw up gyoza. If you live a few miles from this place and want the novelty, I guess I'd say try it. But definitely not worth a drive. I'd rather spend a little more money and eat high quality Japanese at a solid restaurant.
