    Teriyaki Dinner Bento Box
    Tiffany B.

This is one of my favorite places for a quick and yummy dinner to go! I always order the chicken teriyaki bento box which comes with rice, veggies, shrimp tempura rolls, shumai, and either a side of salad or soup. I would love to explore more of their menu but this bento box is honestly so yummy I cannot get enough. The portions are also very pleasing and usually it is enough to share for two or eat for leftovers (which I personally love having). I am interested in dining in in the future!

I ordered a ton of sushi for my daughters birthday. We were so happy with all the food we received. All the rolls were delicious. They were all rolled so beautifully. When I arrived everything was ready and I was in and out. Looking forward to eating here again, next time we will come in and sit down.

From food to service, Karaku never ceases to please. I come here on dates by myself at least once a month to get their sushi lunch special which comes with either two or three rolls and a choice of miso soup or salad. Super delicious and fresh every single time, and always very decorated and beautifully presented. Not once have I been disappointed with the food or service. Definitely my top sushi spot to go to in the area.

Is this place kid friendly? Do they have a kid's menu not shown?

I believe they have some American items but, honestly it is close to being a mediocre restaurant. Why not give your kids Asian dishes? There are lots of noodle ones that should be good starter dishes.

The broth was creamy and smooth like a typical Tonkotsu Broth but the added spiciness really removes or supresses the comforting part of this dish. I mean this in the best way possible, it was delicious and now I will be adding spice to my Tokotsu Ramen that I order from a place much more local to me. The broth also was not too salty which was sometimes an issue with me ordering Tonkotsu Ramen in the past. The pork slices were nice and thin and had a nice texture to it as well. The noodles were not overcooked either. A very well done Ramen dish. I decided to order the Butabura Donburi to go. This consisted of a pork rice bowl with caramelized soy sauce, scallion, tamago and sesame seeds. The pork was cooked perfectly and this dish was full of savory flavors. The rice was also "QQ" as some asians would say. For translation just think of QQ for rice the same as Al Dente for pasta. Learning new things every day, will probably be my last time saying QQ but this rice was QQ, straight out of a Zojirushi Rice Cooker. Anyways, before I get too deep into things only Asians would understand or care about, Terayama was quite the perfect stop for me in my long drive to get my computer fixed. All their food was done right and it was just the perfect place to stop in to get welcomed by knowledgeable and comforting staff on a cold day. Quite the hole in the wall but I'm glad I found it. Until the next time Terayama. Keep it QQ.

Off the beaten path, into the beautiful hills and woods, is this town of Heritage Village I'll have to further explore someday. For now, it's All You Can Eat for $32! Lucky me!! The service was out of control great, especially considering how busy the restaurant is. The whiteboard menu and marker checklist is so smart and fun a concept. It invites gluttony and that's refreshing in these pricey days of eating out. You also feel free to explore menu items you might not if Ala carte pricing. After much debating and research, we decided it was finally time to try Hachiroku in New Haven. We already love going to The Loop, let's sit down and eat. Heard lots of positive buzz from fellow Yelpers and foodies, including a previous 2024 New Haven Best Restaurant of the Year at the CRAZIES. All of the accolades and positive reviews are well earned. Cozy and delicious. That's what I'd describe about Hachiroku. The ambiance is cozy regardless if you're sitting at the bar or in the upstairs seating. The food we ordered also had the same vibe. The menu rotates with the seasons and the freshest ingredients which we greatly appreciated and it shows in the tastes. Our seasonal selections that we ordered included Hokkaido scallop and octopus carpaccio with ikura and seaweed and monkfish karaage. The carpaccio had the perfect components to complement each other. The monkfish karaage fully came together between the lemon and the side of pickled radish as well. We also ordered house made fresh tofu and added uni. The staff mentioned "oh it's perfect, it's uni season" which made my day. It was so delicious and my husband who normally doesn't like uni even noticed how fresh it was. We really went wild ordering everything, including the mini Harasu don (teishoku which comes with rice, pickles, and we picked the salad), Black Cod grilled with Yuzu sauce, Yaki Kinoko Mushrooms, and the Kakuni Short Rib (which pairs very well with a side of rice). The most cozy and perfect dish for winter was the seasonal vegetable agedashi. Warm and had a nice variety of vegetables with a vegetable dashi broth that healed the soul. We enjoyed every dish and we noticed already when looking at the menu again there's already so many new items to try. Excellent service and suggestions from the staff (because if we didn't have them, we could've ordered the whole menu in one night). Can't wait to come back and rave about Hachiroku (and its sister stores/restaurants) to everyone!

The restaurant is on Main Street, but I didn't have any issues finding parking on a Saturday evening. And I believe there is a lot across the street. The restaurant is very nice, clean and open. Private booth seating, along with a long extended booth against the wall with opposing single chairs. And there are barstools around the sushi making station and hibachi. I've included pictures of the menu which is extensive. It's very pan- Asian. They have Chinese, Thai and Japanese options. They also have a fully stocked bar. The young lady operating the front counter was extremely friendly, social and welcoming. Very pleasant to interact with. I selected the Ansonia roll, the American dream roll and the tiger roll. They all contained lobster meat and I believe two of them had shrimp tempura. All three were amazing. I probably had a third of the sushi and I am full and extremely satisfied. This is my new favorite sushi restaurant. And I will definitely be returning when I need a sushi fix although I'm very interested in trying their Thai options as well.

Without a reservation, the wait looked pretty long, so I'd definitely recommend calling ahead on holidays or weekends. Even with how crowded it was, the service stayed good throughout the night. The ordering system uses tablets at the table, and because of how busy it was, a few of my orders didn't go through the first time. I also appreciated how accommodating the staff was. We also got the edamame, which tasted really fresh with the perfect crisp bite to it. I wasn't sure if I wanted to fully commit to the spicy garlic sauce, so I asked for it on the side... and immediately fell in love with it. We ended up dipping EVERYTHING in it, including the dumplings, which were absolutely delicious. My friend ordered a boba tea without the boba and really enjoyed it. They also got a sushi roll, and I tried some of the California roll myself. Sometimes all you want is a nice, fresh piece of sushi, and this definitely delivered. Also, points for serving the Diet Coke in a bottle. Nothing is worse than an inconsistent fountain! If we're ever back in the New Haven/Hamden area, this will absolutely be our go-to ramen spot.
