I've been working with Marwan for a couple months and it's time to write a review: Marwan is an outstanding tennis coach. I've been improving after every lesson. He mixes just the right amount of explanation/verbal instruction with intuitive training, by that I mean choosing the right drills, and within those drills giving me the right shots to help me learn through doing. He has correctly identified flaws in my game and given me actionable steps to improve. He's conscious of not making things too hard or discouraging. He checks in frequently and although he pushes me on the court with his shots, he keeps the atmosphere light. He's also a very nice and funny guy and I enjoy his company. I have nothing but great things to say for Marwan! I'm a beginner at tennis and have been working with him for the past 3 months. Very unfriendly and rude person. I wanted to arrange a personal training for my boss who was travelling for the first time through USA. He started to tell me that I'm scam just because I didn't call him and text him in Watsapp. I offerd him to call or write an email or write him in Facebook but he didnt want to help me and just finished conversation. Not only is Marwan a stringmaster extroardinare - he's also a darn good teacher. I came to Marwan because I was having trouble hitting angles - every ball I put in play seemed to just head harmlessly down the middle of the court. Marwan was quick to find a solution to my problems. Started to play tennis again after a long hiatus (10+ years!) and wanted to take lessons to get my stroke back. At first, my forehand was all out of whack, and struggled to get the ball over the net on that side. After one lesson with Marwan, he was able to detect my issue. I made a grip adjustment and by the end of our first session, I was able to use my forehand and rally with him! I still need a lot of work, so I'm continuing my lessons with Marwan. I'm on my 3rd lesson now and cannot be happier that I decided to pick up tennis and take lessons with Marwan. Super friendly guy with lots of great advice and mnemonics to help get the concept into your head during the game. I've been playing with Marwan weekly since June 2016. It's been a personal dream of mine to be able to causally play tennis and Marwan is helping me get there. He's extremely knowledgable, skilled, and patient. He's intensely observant and gives constant feedback -- knowing what I'll most likely do before I do it. It's this feedback that helps me understand what I'm doing wrong and how to make the right adjustments to improve. He has a list of sayings that will be drilled into your head. It's these mantras that help to reinforce proper form so it becomes second nature. As far a practicalities go -- scheduling is always simple as Marwan makes himself available via text. My 11 year old son began taking tennis lessons from Marwan this summer (2009). I was a little worried because my guy gets frustrated easily and needs *lots* of positive feedback. Not only that, but I needed to find someone who was willing to offer lessons at a tennis court that my son could walk to (I'm a working mom with 3 kids, and there are only so many pick-ups and drop-offs I can handle per day). Marwan was willing to come to our corner of the city, and he has made tennis such fun for my son. My son looks forward to lessons, is improving, and most important for me...getting away from the computer games for a little while, exercising, and having a great time. I've tried out several instructors in SF, and can honestly and confidently say that there isn't a better tennis instructor in SF than Marwan. Trust me, I'm someone who does a ton of research and I've played with a lot of instructors. Whether you are a total beginner, an intermediate player just looking for a workout, or an advanced player trying to fine tune your game to the next level, you need an instructor that's going to give you a combination of technical instruction and repetition/practice. Too many other instructors in SF are LAZY and focus exclusively on technical drills and use them to hide the fact that they're lazy and don't want to tire their bodies by constantly hitting balls. While technical instruction is necessary, it's obvious that having a coach throw you slow balls for one hour of drills just is no replacement for actually playing at game speed. Don't be fooled by these charlatans...technical drills will do you no good unless you actually have a stable of hitting partners to play with (preferably right after your drills are done). Let's face it, unless you're a member at a really expensive tennis club then you don't have this situation and these instructors are just wasting your money under the guise of "technical instruction" . Marwan loves tennis and loves what he does, and that shows in the effort he puts into his craft. He doesn't hide behind "technical drills" to be lazy...he'll feed you excellent balls that are fine tuned to the pace and style that you need to get that repetition you need to steadily improve your game in an efficient manner. He's like a ball machine that's constantly adjusting to your needs/skill, offers technical instruction, and makes hilarious jokes / is fun to talk to as well. Marwan was recommended to me by a friend from work. At that time, I was trying to get into a sport to get fit, I was inspired by the Nadal-Federer final in Wimblendon I saw a while back, so I chose tennis and Marwan to start me off on it. For my birthday I was gifted 2 private lessons with Marwan - my first tennis lesson of any kind. I was a bit nervous going to my first lesson, but everything went very smoothly. He was encouraging, gave helpful feedback and knew exactly when to try something more or different. Though I've only had 2 lessons with him, I already feel much more confident in my game and know where I can put in more work. He was very observant and noticed whenever I changed my grip during a stroke and helped point out incorrect form. During the lesson he noticed the grip on my racquet was a bit too small and applied an over-grip for free. When my strings were ready to break, re-strung the racquet in time for our next lesson. Nice guy but not sensitive to when I got injured overdoing my strokes as I was excited to get back to playing tennis after 2 years. I hurt my intercostal ribs on the left side, then the right side. I am definitely not super talented with Tennis, considering many months of lessons from many different coaches did not help that much. After I have taken a month of lesson from Marwan, I feel much more confident with my tennis. It is very easy to see how he can find my flaws from every stroke. His eyes are like camera.
