I found Pam from Groupon and I paid an amazing price for a haircut, shampoo, single color process, and style! It was very easy to make an appointment with her; you may call her or text her for scheduling questions! Pam is very personable, patient, and knowledgeable; I would definitely go back to her again for a touch up! The location had free street parking; Mary & Friend inside is very clean, organized and a lot of space. This is a great way for future barbers to rent space for their own customers too. I always see Jaymi Tharp when I go, but EVERYONE there seems very friendly so I doubt you would go wrong as a walk-in. They always offer a drink and will chat- there are a lot of regulars in the salon, and the prices are good for the high quality. Jaymi is really good at communicating and figuring out what you want before cutting it, I have never had a bad experience here. I would definitely recommend her. She usually remembers how you like your hair, even if you haven't been in in a while. The dyes she uses do not seem to bother my sensitive skin, and last a long time even though I am not always responsible with taking care of the colour. She is definitely a professional, I have never once had uneven bangs or bangs too-high and I am REALLY picky about my bangs. I have been coming for about two years I think. I would love to give 5 stars because Pam was so personable and kind! Unfortunately, the haircut did not meet my expectations. The layers were extremely choppy and were not blended well at all. Without exaggeration, I can say that Mark at Mary & Friends is the best stylist I have ever had. He takes his time and is very detail-oriented, and I always leave feeling better looking and more confident! He is very open to suggestions and skilled enough to work my ideas into what can actually be done with my hair type. He offers excellent advice on products and styling, but is not pushy with up-selling extras. The salon-style service also comes at a very fair price! I was shocked by the two negative reviews (which contain very similar wording and were written by friends who have written only one other review between the two of them) and feel compelled to set the record straight. I have been to Mary & Friends over a dozen times and often refer my clients, friends and husband here for hair and nail services. NEVER - NOT ONCE - have I noticed fumes or over-powering fragrances. As a massage therapist, I am very sensitive to acquiring odors which my clients might find offensive, and I am VERY conscious of the products used on me both for the fragrances and the chemicals which can be absorbed through my skin. Jaymi uses high-quality, mostly natural products with friendly ingredients because she, too, is aware of growing sensitivities of the general public. I know this for a fact because I always ask to read the ingredients (yes, I'm a label-reader.) Sandra, the nail tech, stopped using shellac because of the toxicity well before I became a client. She uses high-quality low-environmental-impact products and encourages her clients toward more natural manicures. She is also very conscientious about what she uses and recommends for her clients to use for optimal health. I have received work when the place was packed and even then have never experienced unpleasant air quality or anything other than GREAT service with top-quality products in a spotless environment.
