She assumed I was overweight bc i was too lazy to exercise, so she kept telling me I needed to take daily walks and build up my muscles even tho I constantly told her some days I can't get out of bed and with my very limited amount of energy and pain level, adding more activity would only make my life more difficult to manage.​ it was like talking to a wall and knowing now she has the same disease and was so dismissive is infuriating. I have been grieving the loss of some of my favorite activities: biking, hiking and generally walking everywhere. I have stopped bc of the toll they take on me not bc I am lazy. When I said I'd had some shortness of breath not long after the pandemic, she said "it's probably your weight" and changed the subject. I have a history of blood clots and found out later shortness of breath could be a symptom of a deadly clot in the lungs. That is neglect!. To summarize, in 1999 I was a 15 year old high school athlete. One day playing soccer, my vision disappeared for 5-10 minutes. This became a routine thing every 2-3 days, without any given trigger or correlation. I went to my family practice doctor, allergist, neurologist, ophthalmologist, and finally a neurosurgeon (too see if it was related to an eye issue I was born with). I was given many answers of what it "could" be.... Over a 2-3 year period, I tried 5-6 different medications, all with limited efficacy, and a plethora of side effects. Eventually I learned to deal with the issue, as the medications weren't worth the high cost, or side effects. Life was rough, but manageable (going blind every 2-3 days without warning). After a single visit with Dr. Robin Moore in 2004, she was able to help identify what was causing my visual issue. And more importantly, what was triggering the issue. I was able to change my habits, change my diet, and the issue has all but dissipated since. Since I had already been prescribed medication from a previous medical doctor for menopause, when I asked what her treatment recommendation would be, she literally said to me "well I don't want to step on anyone's toes to suggest something else." I was absolutely stunned. Your job as a doctor is to put the health of your patients first. Period. Not cater to the ego of whatever doctor I have seen in the past. How bizarre! At least once she was 20 minutes late and not only did she not acknowledge being so late, she acted as if I was the one who was late (with an irritated sigh stating 'well we don't have much time so lets get to what we can'). I was baffled to have my time cut short while seemingly being blamed for it because I know she saw me in the waiting room, right on time. (Yet I was charged for a full visit of course). Also, she only works part-time so anytime I would have a question for her I would have to wait days for a response, and on one occasion I had to email twice and call twice to get a response from this clinic on a specific dosage request that was time-sensitive. The end result is that Dr. Skedd made my health worse. After being diagnosed with SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) she told me she would have to prescribe me with an antibiotic that would worsen my condition, and then another antibiotic that would worsen it still (or at least not help) before my insurance would agree to pay for the actual antibiotic that would help. This is not medical care. This is medical injury. She also misled me about the cost of the SIBO test. She said I would only have to pay $100 which I did in office and then I was billed over $200 additional after the fact for the test. Thankfully I found Dr. Joy at SISU Health who contracts with a Canadian pharmacy that is able to send me the exact right antibiotic prescription for $100. Dr. Joy also knows how to treat menopause. She was able to get down to the bottom of my stomach issues (SIBO) when other doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I've also seen Dr. Johnson and he was very good as well. The office is very welcoming and they have a huge selection of supplements. The receptionists are all super friendly and nice, especially Bonnie! I would highly recommend Peninsula Natural Health care to anyone looking for a Naturuopath.
