Unfortunately, my experience trying to locate him was extremely frustrating. When I first called to schedule an appointment, I was told he was on vacation. Later, I was told they had no information about him. Then I was told he was on medical leave and they didn't know when he would return. Finally, I was told he wasn't coming back, but no one could explain why. Throughout these conversations, I repeatedly felt pressured to schedule with another physician in the practice. Eventually I agreed because I couldn't find Dr. Gleixner anywhere else. While I can't speak for the other physicians, this practice is not the same as it was when Dr. Gleixner was there. If anyone knows where Dr. Paul Gleixner is currently practicing, or whether he plans to return to practice, I would sincerely appreciate you sharing that information. He was an exceptional physician, and I know many long-time patients would like the opportunity to continue their care with him.

She was very warm in person and I felt like she was listening to me and she came up with a solid plan for my concerns (which took into account that she has availability generally). I went to her based on a recommendation of a close friend. I was experiencing my first pregnancy. My first prenatal exam was very quick. No bloodwork was drawn. I only had an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy. Not long after my first visit (maybe about a week and a half later), I experienced spotting and was very worried. I called the office to let them know that I need to be seen because of the spotting. I was clearly upset. They seemed u phased by it and treated me as if I was overreacting. They would not see me right away as I had hoped. Instead I was told to go to the ER if I filled a pad an hour. Three days later I was in the ER (HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE- see my review for Lutheran General Hospital ER). 2 days after that I had to have an emergency D&C because my condition became serious. When the heavy bleeding started (of course on a Saturday) I called the service and had the doctor on call call me back. She acted like I was an inconvenience. I understand that sometimes nothing can be done but my suggestion would be this - when a patient is terrified and wants to be seen, see them. Be a little more compassionate when there's a delicate situation going on. People are more than numbers on a chart.

I was 41 weeks…read morepregnant and in labor and I was told by Dr. Sklansky and her team of nurses that there was a possibility of a c-section. I was extremely terrified. Every contraction I was having my daughter's heart rate was significantly dropping. I told Dr. Sklansky that I was terrified of a c-section and asked if there was anything we could do to prevent that. Dr. Sklansky and her amazing team of nurses helped me to maneuver my position every hour and really paid attention to the needs of my daughter and me. 26 hours later I had a healthy baby girl 9 pounds 9 ounces and vaginally delivered. This was my first experience as my daughter was my first. I am so grateful to Dr. Sklansky and the amazing team of nurses at Lutheran General. The practice has several doctors and you never know which doctor you will get when it is "go time." Through all my doctor visits I liked all the doctors, but Dr. Sklansky was my favorite. She is so easy to talk to and has always made me feel super comfortable. I was so lucky that she was "on call" that day. I am expecting my little guy in June and hoping that I will luck out and get Dr. Sklansky again.

After reading a bunch of other reviews, I switched my insurance over to her and never looked back. She is knowledgeable, patient, responsive, honest, and every other positive thing you'd look for in an OB. I was almost 3 months pregnant at our first visit and reeling from my previous terrible experience with Dr. Herriges and his practice (that's a whole other story - feel free to read that review if you want to know what not to look for in an OB). She answered all of my questions, helped my icky feelings fade away, and put my mind at ease in a matter of 15 minutes. She helped me get my very limited medical records sent over, reviewed my results from those tests and let us know that everything was going well thus far in a matter of days. Throughout my pregnancy, she never cancelled an appointment, was extremely communicative, and kept me confident that we could totally do this. Her office has a nurse available to answer questions M-F and they call you back promptly with answers to your questions, no matter how silly the questions may seem. On to my delivery, which was unplanned to a degree. Our babe was breech, and we tried spinning babies exercises, moxa, acupuncture, and nothing worked. We made the decision to try ECV, for which Dr. Warner referred us to a MFM specialist. On the day of the procedure at 37 weeks and 2 days, things did not go as planned that Dr. let us know we would delivering that day and that Dr. Warner knew and she'd be over as soon as she finished with one other patient. Holy. Crap. Well, Dr. Warner arrived, made sure we understood what was happening, walked me into the OR, soothed my frazzled psyche with some deep breaths and her ultra calm demeanor, and we were on our way. Dr. Warner truly is the best OB in Evanston, at least she is the best one for me. I absolutely adore her and her team!

Despite my constant complaints, she repeatedly documented my pelvic exams as "normal." "THE NEWBIE GYNES ARE SO CUTE WITH THEIR STIs." I was stunned. I went to the restroom, came out, and Dr. Plawyer's nurse was waiting for me. I told her of the incident and she said "I'm sorry to hear that" and then went over my med list and medical history while I'm on the verge of tears. I finally stood up and said "I'm leaving." I did receive a voicemail apologizing and saying it was addressed. However, as a nurse for the past 10 years I understand on a deeper level that the comfort they felt talking about patients at work indicates a culture of not respecting their patients. When we go to the doc we want to feel heard, be taken seriously, and be met with empathy and assistance. I no longer believe this happens at this clinic. Find a clinic that doesn't mock their patients.

Sep 9, 2022Previous review After being a patient in this practice, long before it became MCWHC, like two decades long, my previous doctors retired, one after the other. Since the changes in doctors in this office, that for me began this year, it was a nightmare to get an appointment, no one seemed to know who was where and when. Had a procedure scheduled for March and received a call 3 days prior regarding the meds and was told that the procedure needed to be pre-paid, even though I have very good insurance. Was 'allowed' to make arrangements since I hadn't been notified and providing that I pay a portion up front. Subsequent billing to my insurance company was submitted with my name reading two different ways and insurance company processed the claims as two different people with two different deductibles. While in direct contact with the billing department, it took me 4 months to get it straight with the insurance company. All along, I continued to make monthly payments since I didn't originally know where the fault lay. Once I discovered it was the bill submissions that caused the errors and delay in payment, the claims were corrected by the insurance company. The very same day that I receive the corrected statement from insurance, I received a voice mail that I was being sent to collection. I returned the call and told them to do whatever they felt was necessary. Not one time did I receive an apology for the months of agony dealing with the insurance company that had to go through every single claim from every single provider this year to resolve the issue. The billing department of MCWHC further claimed that I had not made a payment since March when, in fact, I had paid over $800 while all of this was happening. After receiving nonsense responses from billing, telling me where to look on their website but in no way providing confirmation of my payments, I finally began sending emails directly to Dr. Clear to no avail. My emails have gone completely ignored. Last communication I had with her was that she was going to reach out to my oncology gyne for a consult and get back to me, that's right, oncology. Never heard another word. Maybe I am dying, I guess I won't know from Dr. Clear. The last email I sent to Dr. Clear, I made it clear that no response is a response. After reading all of the complaints here on Yelp, I could not agree more with the rudeness of the billing office and the office staff. They could care less about your health, they are all in for the money. I told Dr. Clear that it is unfortunate that she and others came into a practice that was built long and hard by others that they are destroying day by day. Very sad. Doctor Blumenthal refused to run any of the tests that my mom or I asked for. I did not feel that Doctor Blumenthal listened to me. When I told her I was in pain she said that was "normal." Not sure if she did not respect or listen to me because I am young or what the issue was. Regardless, I left her office crying and without answers. This experience made me very nervous to go to other doctors for fear that I would be treated the same way. No doctor should ever make anyone feel like this, I recommend that you go to another doctor.

I was having really difficult OBGYN issues and needed help (fast) Like any MD, first time time patients have to wait to see them. It took a month to get in. But a personal referral is worth the wait and so I did. Was I ever surprised by her bedside manner! I have always sought out female docs for my OB needs as I think they will be more inclined to be comforting, caring and respectful. They have the same anatomy. They have to go through the same exams. At 37 I've had many OB's. Never in my life have I been treated more like a piece of meat than I was by Dr. Blumenthal. She is short, to the point and abrasive. Every time I had a question she cut me off. Instead she informed me of her "plan". I would have an internal ultrasound to further investigate the source of excruciating pain in my pelvis. Her diagnoses was that I had a fibroid near one ovary and a cyst near the other. She would give me birth control and by eliminating the periods it would solve my problem. Case closed. Next. Her answer to my plea for pain relief was Ibuprofen (as if I hadn't tried that and every other OTC on the market- non of which helped). I tried to explain this was affecting my life, my job, my marriage. If I could fix it with an OTC why was I seeking professional help????? The day of the ultrasound she went through the procedure calmly but speaking to the tech and not me. I was in pain and she utterly disregarded it. My husband was with me, holding my hand, coaching me to breathe and squeeze him if it hurt. What a good man. When she was done with me she told me to dress and left the room. She didn't however warn or offer me something to catch all the fluid that was about to gush out of me when I was upright. Such a small and common sense thing. But when (the patient) is in pain and worried - they might not be thinking of these things and the doctor knows full well what will happen when you get up. NOT telling me, seemed almost crude. After several months of following her strict instructions and taking her birth control pills, I was bleeding daily instead of once or twice monthly. The pain was increasing and now on top of it I was always bleeding. You can imagine what this does to intimacy (not to mention being on birth control being non conducive to the baby making we told her we wanted to start this year). But NOOOOO - we had to listen and follow the plan. My husband accompanied me to every test and visit, and she talked down to him as if she hated men or something. I tried to nicely explain to her OUR plans and wants. Instead she challenged me and said, "do you want to get better or not?" Very Alpha female, VERY. She then decided I needed an endoscopy. She would put me under for in- house surgery (looking for signs of scar tissue around the uterus that she thought was the problem). I agreed to the surgery and even made myself available the very next day (since it was her "surgery" day and it was "best" for her). What a waste and detriment to my overall health. She found nothing. When I came out of the anesthesia I was totally disoriented. The pain was excruciating. I began to howl in pain as I was waking up and her team actually had the nerve to start yelling at me "SHUT UP, SHUT UP". Then they slammed the door closed on me, leaving me alone, writhing in pain with my knees up to my chin and didn't come back for at almost 5 minutes with something for the pain. I felt like they were punishing me for making noise. Dr. Blumenthal didn't bother to talk to me post op- instead she talked (down) to my husband in a very rude and dismissive way. She told him that she didn't see anything and gave him a name and # for another "specialist". Basically passing the buck. THANK GOD. My new doctor (Dr. Tu) is a great listener and very forward thinking. He's great to my husband and leaving no stone unturned as we work together to figure out what the problem is. (I will be writing a glowing review on him next). But as for Dr. Jane Blumenthal at Northwestern University Hospital I couldn't be more disgusted. FAIL. FAIL. FAIL. Ladies (especially those getting up near 40 that want to start a family) avoid this doctor like the plague. Her bedside is atrocious, she has NO compassion, no listening skills, and I question why she's even in medicine. There are docs out there that are apathetic. They're tired of the system and I know the system is flawed. But there are also doctors out there that CARE about their patients and work diligently and compassionately to provide health care (even in a flawed system). Pass on this doctor. She is past her prime (if she ever had one). Oh and I just found out she is no longer doing deliveries. So it's impractical to go to her if you want a family anyhow.

As soon as she walked in, I felt like I had known her for years and instantly felt calm. Throughout the whole process, she was supportive and explained everything really well to me. I loved her bedside manor. She was cautious, but did not want to do anything that was no needed. Any decision that I made, she always listened too. If I thought something that she did not agree with she explained why in a thoughtful way without making me feel dumb for my idea (which it was - in fact- dumb). Her entire team was lovely and I really loved Dr. Baskin as well. Dr. Sodini was very nice as well. but Dr. Delinado and Dr. Baskin really rocked my world. My epidural wore off during labor due to a poor placement (no fault to the dr.) Dr. Delfinado sat with me and assured me that this was a hard situation and that I could do this. I cried, she let me, then she made me rest. When I woke up (THANK GOD FOR EPIDURALS) I was time to push and I delivered a healthy boy with minimal tearing. This woman is a rock star and I will be back if I have another baby.

I would really like to write a positive review of Dr. Delfinado, as I truly liked her as a person…read more Her bedside manner trumps that of her practice partner, Dr. Sodini, and she is genuinely a nice person. But I feel like it is really important to share my multiple negative experiences with Dr. Delfinado and her practice so anyone reading these reviews can be fully informed. However, I had too many problems with her office and a horrible experience at my last appointment with her, and I do not plan to return to her. I had many problems with her staff, who come across as disorganization and unprofessional. They were confusing, frustrating and, at least once, extremely upsetting. I did feel like Dr. Delfinado spent more time with me when I had issues than her partner Dr. Sodini. We talked at greater length about my problems and possible solutions. I did feel like she listened to me more. But when ongoing medical problems weren't solved, Dr. Delfinado eventually recommended blindly taking a course of action with either a prescription or a topical medication when she had not yet determined my problem. It was at this point that I sought out a new OB/GYNE who matched my philosophy of finding the root of the problem and tackling it from there. I found myself in Dr. Delfinado's office one last time after that when my new OB/GYNE could not see me, and I had a terrible experience with Dr. Delfinado and her staff that day. I no longer will see her and would sooner seek out a OB/GYNE who I do not know and have never seen before in a situation where I cannot see my new doctor. I am now seeing a new OB/GYNE who has addressed my problems with a systemic, holistic approach. This doctor has spent time understanding me and my health. No topical creams, no temporary solutions, no rushing me through the system. And I am feeling great. As one reviewer put it, if you do NOT have any issues and just want your BC prescription or an annual pap smear, these doctors are fabulous to see. If you have any issues at all (which unfortunately one cannot predict), then this is not the practice for you.
