I have been coming to Mary's for years. There is nothing like Mary's in Florida. Once I've purchased airfare, I make sure to get an appointment every time I'm in New York. I usually make an appointment and come during the summer. Mary's is full of beautiful swimsuits that she adjusts to fit my body perfectly. There is a room of seamstresses in the back that takes in the straps, makes the suit shorter and even adds underwires for support. 20 minutes later, I left with three beautiful swimsuits that have been altered to fit me perfectly. The personalized service, the adjustments to the suit and knowledgeable staff make trying on and purchasing swimsuits and absolute breeze. My only negative is I wish they were in Florida. read more

I have been an extremely satisfied customer for over 40 years. All of the fitters are knowledgeable and assist in purchasing the right bra...which includes alterations on the spot. They are caring and understand the female "psyche"- sometimes with a bit of brusque humor. I have known them well for so many years- I enjoy a bit of humor... they understand personalities and how to best serve them! I have known the "sign in sheets" of the past, with a very long wait, to the present need for appts. because sometimes the right fit takes time & patience. I have sent my granddaughter for bras which finally fit her properly - her past choices included Victoria's Secret. It is a most difficult job- I would want a full month vacation off, too! read more

I had a good experience when purchasing the bras but a bad one when something happened to one of them. My husband did me a favor went in the store today to show them that one of my bras had ripped. These were brand new bras bought right before everyone went on vacation from the store for about a month (so probably end of July/beginning of August). My husband said that the lady was very rude in the store and said it was an old bra and could not be fixed. Ladies, if you are feeling fragile after breast surgery or have body issues PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THIS STORE!!! I stopped in to look for a bathing suit and was BELLIGERENTLY told that if I didn't have an appointment today I was not welcome!!! My experience this time, and much needed, was, nurturing people and a person who knew so much about bras, swimsuits and the like. Got a wealth of knowledge from some of my previous misnomers of how to fit and wash bras properly. So, the good news is that I got one bra a perfect fit. The bad. Dang!! Only one, as they do not make this particular one anymore. While they have others that need adjustments the second one does not fit so well and I will be going back to get a few adjustments made. Though I really needed to get proper ones as much as I like online companies, what I have, just did not fit correctly. The bathing suit much the same experience as she found one that I feel is so pretty and definitely fits better than the ones I have. They say next month they shall be getting a Lot of more to choose from. The cost are high and I had not even asked what the layout was first, but with things like this and being a hard fit, I need to lay it out and I used a credit card to pay. Also when Georgettes closed in her passing (a fine lady may she r.i.p.) there are not other local places to go. I noted other reviews. Don't know who was rude and that should never happen as it is a business supposing professional if nothing else. I had an easy and successful shopping experience. I needed a bra and undergarments for my son's Bar Mitzvah. I was trying to find what i i needed on my own and spent hours with no luck. I walked in and out of the store within 25 minutes with everything I needed customized to my body! Never again will I try anywhere else. Not only were they able to find what I needed but guide me on the best type of garments for the dress. The service was Warm and friendly. When shopping for items that can make one feel self conscious the positive atmosphere makes a difference. I recently had to visit this speciality shop to be fitted for a bra after a bi lateral mastectomy: I was greatly disappointed and disturbed by the information and the subsequent bras that were sold to me after being altered. Chris the owner told me that although they were obviously not a fit, that I could use warm water on them and they'd shrink to shape. My fault for believing this nonsense, but the effort emotionally and physically for me to accomplish this needed task was overwhelming and incredibly insensitive on her part. I am truly impressed with the level of customer service I received while shopping for my Wedding undergarments. The place has a wide selection of items so you will need some time to shop. If they don't have what you are looking for they can order it. Unfortunately the corset I ended up buying was not good enough for me. I don't blame the store for that. It just ended up cutting into my side and did not support my upper body. I did not have time to fully shop so I just hastily grabbed whatever fit me. Although the ladies spent a lot of time with me for a mastectomy fitting, there were two red flags. Beware, although they do the mastectomy fitting, and they complete insurance paperwork, they did not warm me before hand that I had to lay out over $700.00 for a prostheses, insert and a filler and a bra. I did not know this until I went up to the register. Not everyone has this type of money floating around. I know I will get reimbursement but I learned an unfortunate lesson. They should have forewarned me about their policy. The second red flag is that they only had one bra in my size that they recommended and had to order the others. They said they had other bras but refused to show them to me. Maybe I took too much of their time up. Minus two stars for the 2 issues. read more

I went to get a mastectomy's bra at this store near me. They only showed me one bra and the woman said we can cut the pad so it doesn't go over the top of the bra. With that she takes it to the seamstress which I thought she was going to ask if it could be done, comes back in 2 minutes and it was cut on both padded cups and then got stuck paying $67 for a bra I could have bought at Marshalls for less then $20. I wouldn't even give this store a 1 star it is downright deplorable how I was treated. Less then 20 minutes and I got charged this amount without telling me she was doing this. Find another store this was a worse experience then having the surgery and I haven't even wore it at all. I told her to put it on my Medicare which they pay and she said only 1 bra it's a lot of work to do this. I said yes I wanted my money back from even Medicare. My husband and I own a business and the one thing we learned is the customer is always right. I showed up for my appt on time and the one nasty saleswoman looks in the book and says you don't have an appointment today and the other woman who made the appointment the day before in person, said in the nastiest tone WHY ARE YOU HERE? My response..this is when you told me to come. She took no accountability for writing the appt on the wrong day and there was no apology, just pure rudeness and walked away from me. It had been awhile since I had gotten fitted correctly for a bra and I came up with this store. I was so happy that I was going to get fitted properly. The woman helping me was so nice. But the first bra I tried on she said fit perfectly. I thought so too until I went home to wear it. It did not fit well. If I bent just a little the front of my bra, my ta tas were jumping overboard. I am usually not one to bash businesses but I am so upset how my mother was treated during her appointment here today. She had a 12:30 pm appointment and arrived 5 mins early at 12:25. The woman was rude and commented on her being too early and told her rudely "just go in the middle dressing room". She continued to speak rudely to my mother and talk to her like she was a child. My mom said she just wanted to burst into tears but kept her composure as she needed to just order the bra for my brothers upcoming wedding. I asked for the name of the representative who assisted her and she didn't know the name as she was too upset and just wanted to get it over with. I feel I was fitted incorrectly. She sized me for a 32 when I never wore a size 32 in my life which I told her . I had a feeling I bought five bras and went home. Tried them on again. Way too small. They had my money now, so I went back to ask for a size 34. They said they had a special order it which is just why I figured I was given a 32. I also asked if it was going to be a long time till they receive that special order and they said NO it won't be long. Well, it has been three weeks and I have not received a call. I called and asked the status and they said they can't give it to me. You'll know when we call you. I proceeded to let them know I will be traveling for the next two months and if they don't have it by Friday in two days, I need a refund. I was told they will not give me a refund we don't do that and the lady that I spoke to on the phone was rude, so rude and nasty that I said goodbye and hung up. Caring staff ensure you get the right fit for your girls. Ray was wonderful and patient, spending as much time as you need. Sometimes that means a wait to be seen by a fitter, but it's worth it. To the person who thought it odd about the inquiry about customers owning cats ... one of the fitters is deathly allergic - so if a customer has cat hair / dander she cannot assist you and will get a different fitter for you. My first time shopping in Mary's was this summer. I needed a bra for my son's wedding and, notwithstanding their rudeness and arrogance (of which I had been forewarned), I ended up buying two tee shirt bras in addition to a strapless one for the gown. The only reason this establishment gets one star is because the woman who did the fitting at the time was very warm and helpful. It goes down from there. They were just so rude. After a few months, the hook on one of the t-shirt bras started to twist and pull away. This was a $55 bra that was barely worn, still looked new, and was in great shape except for the damaged hook. I called the store, knowing they frown upon walk-ins, and told them the problem. The clerk matter-of-factly told me to bring the bra in with the receipt. Luckily, I had kept the receipt. I went there this afternoon and before the door even closed behind me I was met with an abrupt, "Do you have an appointment?" No "hello." No "May I help you?" So rude. I reminded her that we had just spoken, and she said, "Oh yeah, let me see it." I handed her the bra and receipt and she couldn't help but point out that the order was placed in July. She brought the bra to the back of the store to the seamstress. When she came out, she said I could wait, or leave and come back, and it will be $3.00! Under the circumstances and already annoyed at my treatment, I expressed shock that they would charge anything to repair something that was only a few months old. When I objected on principle, she went back and said, "She doesn't want to pay the $3.00 to fix it!" It was so rude and insulting. Who do they think they are?? When she came back out, she snidely asked me how I washed the bra, insinuating that I had caused the damage. I was only sitting for two or three minutes when the seamstress brought the bra out with a resting bitch face. She walked right over to me, tossed the bra at me, and said, "Merry Christmas" dismissively. I was speechless. I was there for less than ten minutes. I have never been treated so poorly by a business. They act like they are doing you a big favor. I will shop in Soma from now on. Never again. read more

I absolutely never write reviews even when I have had a poor experience because I don't believe in business bashing. However, I was so negatively effected by my experience on Friday I felt other women should know. I will say the cashier at the front is one of the most lovely people ever. She made sure I actually had the correct items leaving the store because the bras were thrown up front and she was so confused as well. The woman next to me also didn't know and almost went home with mine and I with hers. I say this because you DO NOT KNOW what you get, your size, or really wHat alterations are being done. I wasn't asked what color I'd like or style or ANYTHINg. The owner slapped a bra on me declared it fit perfect and that was that. When I asked for a black bra too she was bothered end told me I don't have that in your size. You don't have ANY black bra for me? LOL same goes for the strapless. I was really taken aback by the lack of patience, compassion, and general people skills. I bought all three because they were altered without giving me an opportunity to see anything else. When I got home I was really disappointed in how the cups gape at the top. I will say I really trusted her expertise which is why I went ahead and purchased them despite being horrified by her behavior. This goes to show, if she took the time so I could move around, try out the bra- I could have gotten something I could actually wear. I just finished breastfeeding and was really looking forward to having a great new bra as a treat. I left defeated, upset, and 200 dollars poorer. Proceed with caution.. read more

This review is one star too many! The fact that so many people have written about the rudeness of the staff of Mary Corsetieres over several years is no small coincidence. After spending over $240.00 on bras (and brought a friend who spent $150.00), I found that it needed an adjustment. I went back to the store on an appointment. The woman (one of the owners, no less) was screaming at me in front of other people in the store, that their store didn't sell the bra I brought in, when in fact it did,since I bought it there previously, and not at other shops. Then the woman said out loud ," I have to show this one how to wear a bra". again, loudly in front of the staff and other customers. Both owners were there, and no one corrected her for her rudeness? And to a customer who has shopped there over 28 years! I drove 45 minutes to this store to support a local business, and this was the treatment that I got. Although , unfortunately, my friend has to go back to pick up an item, sad to say, I will not be doing business with them again. My advice would be to stay away, and give your business to stores run by professionals. read more

I bought a strapless long line bra at Mary's for my daughter's wedding in August. I came early and was second or third online. I did have to wait, but it was the old store in Woodbury and there were chairs there. I waited around 20 minutes. A fitter measured me, found a bra and it was altered slightly while I waited. I did have to come back after my first dress fitting because the seamstress who altered my dress told me that there was a bump in the bra where it was altered. When I went back, they kept the bra to alter it and charged me for the second alteration. Each time I went I got there at opening and didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes. Recently, I recommended Mary's to my friend whose daughter is getting married. We went to the old location and saw they moved. When we arrived at the new store, we were 4th online. There was one person fitting one sewing and one at the front register. There were no chairs to sit on, so we had to stand. We stood there almost an hour. No one said anything to us about how long it would be or asked what we were looking for. After an hour of standing we noticed they were only helping the third person on line so we walked out. It's a small store and no one said anything to us as we left. I was so disappointed that I recommended Mary's to my friend. She will be going elsewhere for her bra. I wished I had read the reviews before I went there. I was very disappointed. I was given a long line bra strapless and then they put straps on. Changed place of tabs which broke first time I tried it on. put darts on sides which my breasts were popping out of. Sales person was the rudest person I ever met in my life. I just went to this store and the owner was such a sweet and helpful lady. Wow !!! My wedding is on October and I went to get my under the dress essentials and as soon as Mary saw me she was very honest and said I didn't need to buy one, I insisted I did but after she explained why I didn't need one, I smiled and simply agreed. I was also with my mom and she knew exactly what to get her, it fit perfect. She made me and my mom feel so comfortable !!!! Mary Corsetieres was a great disappointment. For years, I had passed the shop on Woodbury Road, always hoping to be able to shop there. When I needed undergarments for a wedding, I first thought of Mary Corsetieres which was also recommended by Queen of Hearts owner, Julie. As I had a doctor's appointment on Manetto Hill Road, I went to Mary Corsetieres, but could not get in, due to appointments only during Covid. I called, hoping I could get a soon appointment, as the day and time I was there was one listed for their being open. I did not get a call back for days. Set up an appointment, but unfortunately I had to cancel it, because of a death in the family. When I left the message to cancel, I also asked for a new appointment. No one called me back to say they got the cancelation, so I called again and was able to speak with a human who said that she'd pass on the message. It is a week or so later and I still have not gotten a call back to make a new appointment, but no worries - I was able to get a same day appointment last Thursday at The Fitting Curve, and they treated me marvelously. They now have a new customer. I may never go back to Mary Corsetieres. read more

First let me state that I have never written a bad review for anyone or any place ever but I feel compelled to speak of my experience at Mary's. I went to Mary's in search of a strapless bra for an off the shoulder dress and also to be fitted for an every day bra. After putting my name on a list and waiting almost an hour I was finally called and told to go to dressing room 2. I went in and waited another 10 minutes for Chris to enter. She told me to take off my top and bra and then asked me when I had my surgery. I told her I've never had breast surgery of any kind and she actually argued with me saying that she's been in this business 35 years and knows surgically altered breasts when she see them. I wasn't sure if it was a compliment or insult. She told me I was way off of my size and she insisted a needed a much larger size but would alter it to fit properly. Being she's the expert I agreed and walked out with a strapless and an everyday bra and even ordered another one. When I got home I tried on my new purchase and was so unhappy with it. The stitching was so irritating, and the entire bra just didn't fit. I called them and the woman on the phone told me to come in and try to adjust it or I can pick out another. I went back and again went through the process of putting my name on the list and waiting. I finally get called and told to go to dressing room 1. Again, after 10 minutes, Chris comes back in and I tell her what I don't like about the bra. She has me try it on and when I start pointing out why I don't like it she literally rips it off me and yells and me " you'll just never be happy". I was so taken aback by her attitude but I wanted to get another bra being that they don't refund. I reluctantly tried on 2 more and they didn't fit. It was then that this ever charming woman Chris yelled at me "you just like your tits out". I said excuse me, surely I heard her wrong, and then she looked at me close to my face and repeated herself. I WAS STUNNED! I took a bra I had tried on got a $17 credit that I'll never use because I'll NEVER set a foot back in that store. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. There are much better places that are honest and better quality. They don't tell you that you can't return the bras because they "sew" some part of it which is probably a lie and don't even measure you to begin with.They sized my mother completely wrong and were incredibly rude when she tried to return it or exchange it for something that fit better. They insisted that they were right and refused to fix the situation. How can you run a bra place when you cant even measure someone correctly and when my mom asked to be measured, the OWNER told her that she didn't know how to but she just "knew what she was doing". Clearly, she does not. It is a total scam and the owner CHRISTINA is a cheapskate who just cares about making money and getting you out of the door because once you leave your money is gone and there is no getting it back once you realize that they're incompetent and sold you the wrong thing. Definitely overpriced for the service and quality of bras you get considering the fact that one of the clips broke 2 days after getting it and not even wearing it yet.
