Kinda on the dry side so hoping the regular versions are much better. Wished there was more strawberry flavor in the strawberries and cream cupcake but omg the cream cheese icing on the red velvet cupcake is delish (nice subtle tang and not overly sweet)! As for the New York cookies, I wouldn't say they're really Levain-like, but standing on their own they're still good cookies! Missing the crispy exterior but the interior is nicely soft and slightly gooey. I specifically tried the choc chip cookie (standard taste) and the cookies & cream cookie (I really enjoyed this one! Fan of the trickles of white chocolate ganache). Service was a bit cold. The lady who assisted me was no-smiles and there was conveyor-like communication from her. What I will give props to (and I wished more bakeries did this) is that she asked if I had any food allergies before confirming my order.

It's been 5 years since I got the perfect cupcake here. I'm not a fan of cake. As a kid, I always…read morehad ice cream at parties, or a special fruit punch. Cake was just too heavy, and worst of all was the frosting. Cake lacked depth and left me feeling bloated, teeth hurting from the cloying sweetness. I felt this way until, on a whim, I picked up a blueberry cupcake from Lola's on my way out of the tube. I took it home and bit right through the side, picking up one of the fresh blueberries on top, some of the frosting, and a good chunk of the sponge. I didn't expect much, as I figured the cart wasn't restocked often and the cakes on it were likely stale with wilting fruit. I could not have been more wrong. I still regularly think about that first bite. The tart, fresh blueberry, popping and soaking the gently-flavored vanilla sponge with its juices. The sponge, light as angel food cake but so moist it melts in your mouth. The frosting, light and creamy -- sweet, yes, but not cloying. It was the perfect cupcake. All the flavors complemented each other while serving their role. The cake was gone in seconds. Since moving back to the States, I've searched and searched for a bakery that can reproduce Lola's blueberry cupcakes, but I haven't found one yet. Their cupcakes are uniquely well made, with fresh ingredients as toppers, and are delicious enough to convert me into a fan of cake.

My favorite was the tiramisu one, not too sweet and even had a chocolate truffle on top. The minis were really good but a bit too mini - definitely go for the normal sized cupcakes if you want more than 2 bites of cake.

I was immediately struck by the bold floral and pink decor from the outside. They have an all day menu as well as an afternoon tea. If you want any of afternoon teas you have to make a reservation in advance. Other than you can do a walk up. We went during the week but I can imagine you might have to wait during extra busy times. I loved how it was located on a quiet side street away from the bustle of the main roads. It added to the ambience and felt like you were in a neighborhood cafe. They also have a take away counter of the cakes and cupcakes inside as well. Something to note if you are sitting in the front part you will have people coming in and out. There's seating both inside and outside. We were seated inside and ordered from the all day menu. I did start with a pot of Vanilla Rooibos. This was right up my alley with flavor blend and not too caffeinated. I also ordered the eggs Benedict and the slice of the Carrot and Hazelnut Lemon Loaf. The standout was the Loaf cake. It wasn't overally sweet and I love a carrot cake. The lemon icing was just sweet enough to add to the cake part. It was reasonably priced and fairly fast to get a seat and order. Everyone was so friendly and it was so relaxing to enjoy on our busy day. If I'm in town again, I will come back!

If you find yourself in Kensington and are craving a little somethin' sweet, you should DEF hit up Lola's and indulge. Their kiosk is located right next to the Kensington Tube Station entrance. Ironically, I was actually still lightweight full from the dinner that I had just eaten, but I couldn't resist taking a couple of these babies with me to-go for later. For a kiosk, their selection was screaming with variety! Because we ALL know; the more choices, the merrier. Also, the harder the decision (well, for me at least). I love that they have both mini and regular sizes because sometimes you just wanna nibble. I stuck with the minis since I was still full from dinner. And how ADORABLE are these thangs?! I stan a creative cupcake, mmkay boo boo?! They've got tiger, lion, and panda designed cupcakes and unique flavors like tiramisu, rocky road, and sherbet fizz. Of course, you can't forget the classic favorites! Yep, they have those too. They also have a nice variety of vegan flavors on the menu too. Lots of flavors to choose from ladies and gents! I had their cookies n' cream and a carrot cake minis. Both were absolutely scrumptious! Super moist and flavorful. I loved that the cookies n' cream one was creatively topped with Oreo cookies. But, that carrot cake though! Woo babyyyy. This one was my fave. It was literally over there tastin' just like a yummy carrot cake. After I ate them, I was kind of upset that I didn't get more. Let me tell you though: they were so, SO satisfying. I kind of wish that something like this was near my local train station. But then again, I'd probably end up blowing up like a ballon from eating it too often.
