She walked out after 3 minutes. 10 minutes later Dr Cole came in to tell me, he was cancelling the appt and I could reschedule when someone can watch my dog. I said, I am not coming back. They tried charging me. I called my insurance to tell them not to pay, Dr Cole cancelled the appt after he slept in. I went to the front desk several times during the hour and half and none of them could tell me why I was still waiting. Went to Jervey Eye Group and had the greatest experience.

This is a specialty, large-diameter, rigid gas permeable contact lens that rests only on the white part of your eye, the sclera. Designed to vault over the entire corne­al surface and rest on the sclera, the scleral lenses can morph an irregular cornea into a smooth optical surface to correct vision problems caused by keratoconus and other forms of corneal irregularity. The space between the cornea and the back of the scleral lens acts as a fluid reservoir, continuously bathing the cornea. This can provide for a more comfortable fitting. So it was important for me to find a specialist who could properly fit this type of lens. Thankfully, Dr. Joe is just the person to do this! He was able to correct my vision significantly so that I am near 20/20 corrected vision using scleral lenses in both eyes. It is a bit of trial and error to get the right fit, so it takes a few appointments and patience to get there. The practice was really good with the scheduling for the 4 or so appointments it took to get the fit. Each lense is specially made, so they must be ordered and shipped and then fitted. I was very pleased with the service and care provided by Hopkins Eye Center and highly recommend them.

One optometrist we got a 2nd opinion from told us he would not go back if he were us. Some research online says the the therapy can be helpful - other says it is fraud. But what really made it abundantly clear we made the right decision in discontinuing therapy for our daughter after several months was when I told the therapist we were discontinuing and then they stopped returning my calls when I tried to get a copy of a receipt. I felt like they made a choice on resentment instead of professionalism. While they told us our daughter had a vision problem - our daughter said she didn't (after she received glasses). They said her "condition" would return if we stopped therapy now. Many months later her "condition" has not "returned". So my skepticism remains and the evidence is still inconclusive after a cost of at least $1,000 out of pocket (most insurance won't cover it).
