There is a small gravel parking lot, two beaches, a dock that many fish off of or pull their boats up to before hitting the water. I will note there are sharks at this beach (well duh! You're probably thinking. But I tend to see more here in the shallows than I do at the main beaches.) speaking of sharks, this is a great spot to search for tiny shark teeth (and I do mean tiny!!) This is a known park in Charleston, as there is a lot of history in the place. It's also a local…read morepark for the locals who live in the area. I will make a note that there are lots of birds and they are not afraid of dropping ppoop from above. My cousin was a representative of that, as well as someone else we saw in the park. There are lots of statues with history in them as well. On a hot day, the sea breeze feels great, and in the winter, it can make it much cooler. There are lots of homes that look out to the park and give it a vibe that is out of a movie. There are sidewalks and ramps in the area, but sometimes there are a situation of off-road driving is needed. As not all of this is ADA-compliant. We got to see some cannons as well as the place where they were fired from. You can see lots of dogs and its leash free park, so you might have a four legged from come say hi. There are still rules about how they have to be friendly, and that you still have to have control over your pet. There was a gazebo in the middle that was a great place to take a break without fear of bird poop falling from the sky. Overall, it was a great park to visit while getting some history.

It also wraps around white point garden. There are so many sights, it's very pleasant, and the whole thing is along the water. My husband went multiple times on our trip to get our morning jogs in. There are softball fields, a kids play grounds, plenty of hiking trails and a beautiful large lake and dock. We spent a few hours hiking the trails. They are well maintained and the views are breath taking. The lake is large and beautiful and looks to house several species of fish. There is a board walk and two floating docks on each side for shore fishing. We plan to come back with our kayaks for a day of fishing. There are picnic tables and a few BBQ grills. Perhaps a picnic lunch and then kayaking. The park is dog friendly with a leash. Lots of people walking and enjoying the quiet scenery and fall weather. You won't want to pass up West Ashley Park.

The parking sign about parking patrons can be confusing, but just ignore it. Anyone can park there for free, and we had no problems staying for more than two hours. You also have access to the docks, although the one where the boats are kept has a lock combo, so if the gate is not already open, then you cannot access that particularly one unfortunately.

There was plenty of space to spread out with folding chairs, so even though it was packed with people, it didn't feel like it. I also noticed tiki torches that seemed to help keep the bugs away, so that was a nice touch for me! The concert was great. I'll definitely be back for another event!
