This was my first time ever going back to a gravesite after the burial of my cousin and aunt. The staff in the front office was so helpful with me finding the location of my family members. I still had a hard time finding the actual location because nothing is numbered on the streets but on the actual stone itself in the corner bottom right of the stone. I was so elated to have finally found my cousin and my aunt. The grounds were kept up pretty nicely, it is a lot of ducks in the area as always with any open field of grass, so avoid the large pile of poo. read more

Took away 4 stars for the thief that took my mother's spring metal stake that I drove 4 hours to put on my recently buried mother's bare graveside!!! But you go ahead and enjoy it !! It's unfortunate that I had to bury my Aunt. It took me sometime to find a place where we could all visit her. I chose Maryland National Memorial because it's close and I like the space that was provided. The office staff was helpful. The grounds keepers were extremely nice and they made laying our beloved Aunt to rest as comfortable as they could. We weren't rushed and they were very professional! I had questions regarding the maintenance of the cemetery because previous reviews weren't good and I think the gentleman that answered my questions name was Dustin, he was very informative. read more

I know Yelp isn't really a place where people usually look up cemeteries, but when I noticed that they had a Yelp page, I had to post my review, based on my family's shocking experience yesterday. We buried my great-grandma at Maryland National Memorial Cemetery yesterday. The majority of the funeral was at another location, and a closing prayer was held at the cemetery. Not even five minutes after the closing prayer, as we are walking around saying goodbye to each other and her, and sorting out the flowers, a couple of backhoes come roaring over the hill directly at us. One came straight at me, forcing me to jump out of the way in order to not get hit (which is difficult in heels in soft grass...). While we stood there in shock, they quickly began lowering her into the ground, which was something we definitely didn't need to see. After taking our money, they chased us off of the grounds with heavy machinery, just another day on the job, with absolutely no respect or sensitivity towards us. Their parent company motto is "Celebrating Lives With Dignity". That was the most shocking, undignified scene I've ever been a witness to. read more

I'm only sorry I cannt give a rating lower that one. My wife died in 1988. I live in Laurel and make many visits to her grave. I have seen her marker go from the one I ordered to a pile of cement and dirt. The staff when opening and closing other near sites pile dirt and never come back to clear it ooo the marker. The grass was not cut regularly last year and the entire site is far below what I would consider professional. I will never recommend this place to family friends or enemies. Good luck reaching anyone at this cemetery! I have called twice to try and see my aunt and uncle's grave. With today's busy schedules, one has to go when they have time and its place upon their heart to do so. The first time i called to locate my aunt's grave, i was put on hold for so long, i ended the call. The next time i went there, and this was during a weekday, they had two people in the office and they both were helping the same family. I waited for awhile and just left. Since my uncle died in the eighties and my aunt in 1994, i tried to locate them on the website's "locate a grave", needless to say, they were not listed. I called again a month later and this time there no answer. You would think that there would be a recording or something.....nothing. One would think the cemetery would try and be helpful to families, that they would take the time and expense to input the location of graves, but that's not the case here. It's too bad that people worked hard to purchase these expensive grave sites only to be treated in such a manner. read more
