Came in for a late dinner on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and greeted with a friendly smile. We chose to sit at the bar and ordered a couple beers. We were served chips and salsa. Quick glance at the menu and decided on pozole and steak fajitas. Fajitas were good served sizzling with rice/beans and tortillas. A nice portion size. This was my first time at Mas Locos. I was impressed by decor and energy of the restaurant. The employees were very friendly and professional. The owner went out of his way to greet us. We sat in the bar area in a booth. We were served by the bartender who was doubling at the server. The menu was extensive and has many options. We were seeking tacos and had many choices. We had a shredded beef taco, ground beef taco, Carne Asada taco and the LBC taco. Overall, the tacos were fantastic! We really enjoyed the LBC taco which was made with soft tortillas that were made at the restaurant. I really enjoyed the shredded beef taco as it had a wonderful flavor and was loaded with stuff. Our least favorite taco was the Asada taco that had an unusual sweetness to it. My friend had a house salad. It was mediocre at best. Although it was supposed to come with carrots, tomatoes, olives, and cucumbers, they were almost nonexistent. Disappointed. Last time we came here, the margarita , Jesse's cadillac was made with fresh juice. This time, it was so tart it was hard to drink. And then, sure enough, the bartender came and used a little funnel to put in the gallons of store-labeled 'margarita mix' into the glass bottles behind the bar. I asked, and the female bartender acknowledged it was premade, and the male said 'we are the only ones that use fresh juice.' But I watched him pour the pre labeled plastic gallon jugs! We got there during a busy time but called ahead. They constantly skipped our table making us wait over two hours for our food. By time the kids had their corn dog they weren't hungry. We asked for them to discuss this problem away from the kids and they were not accommodating and threatened to call the police for asking to take the kids plates off the bill. The interior remodel includes sound boards - the open space dining room is beautiful and even full of customers, it wasn't noisy. Tatiana was our server and she is top-notch! They offer about 10 specialty margaritas and have a full bar - my Paloma was ! Decided to try the new Loco's Bar & Cocina for an early dinner. They did an amazing remodel of the old Casa Serrano restaurant that was there previously. The restaurant is beautiful inside and has an upscale vibe. The place is busy because it's something new. We sat in the bar area at what has to be the most uncomfortable bar stools ever! I think they ordered the bar furniture by "look" and never tried sitting on them! The seats are tiny, no back rest and no real foot rest like a normal bar stool. They are so awkward and uncomfortable. We noticed how many other customers came in and tried to sit there and then kept turning the stools around to try and get somewhere to rest their feet. At least 3 different groups got up and then left or went in the dining room during our visit. We found the menu doesn't have accurate descriptions of the food. Hopefully they get that fixed. Normally when a menu describes the dish and then states "served with beans" or "served with rice", you assume on the side. Not here, it's served in the burrito. My burrito came with french fries inside even tho it wasn't listed in the description. Just kind of odd to not know what you are getting! Food was decent but nothing that really stood out for $20 a dish. Chips and salsa are very average and our server told us they charge extra if you want a second basket. That is cheesy for a place trying to be more upscale and that is charging a little more than other places in town. Service was good because it just opened. There were tons of employees everywhere and they checked on us almost too often. The weirdest thing at this place is the hostess/ server told us that they request men remove their hats if eating dinner in the restaurant. I was like "what, did she say"!? This is Lake Havasu and everyone is wearing t-shirts, shorts and flip flops and baseball caps and you want the men to take off their hats after being out on the lake all day!? I'm not sure this rule is going to stick with so many people wearing hats in summertime. Not sure if this has to do with one hat in particular that they don't want, or what the deal is but it's a weird request for eating in Lake Havasu. Was excited to try mas locos or locos 2, having tried the other location in desert hills area, was looking forward to similar food / menu/ ambiance...... I am impressed that they really transformed the place from the previous restaurant, but think it is a little out of place. Very interesting their policy on no hats being a town that thrives on outdoor sports and being an essential part of clothing to avoid the sun being a hat is strange. There was also conflicting things being heard / read about the chips, the menu says one basket free then you will be charged, the owner or manager posted on facebook saying unlimited chips, in person the server also said only one. Enough of the petty stuff. I ordered the fajitas trio steak chicken shrimp, wife ordered a taco salad with grilled chicken. We were seated by the back wall 4 tables spread. It was very concerning that the other 3 tables orders all came out wrong twice..... So we kind of knew what we had coming. Our lunch came out and sadly was wrong...... My fajitas came out with only chicken and steak, the wife's salad came out with shredded pork. They corrected mine and brought out the shrimp, even though it came out and a blazing screaming skillet the veggies were all raw and no sign of grilling, and the chicken and steak had no char as if they were premade or maybe boiled, also had a strange sauce. By then of all the issues with my meal we decided to not bring up about the taco salad, how ever that could be a real issue if one was allergic or religion issues. The server was great, food was meh, ambiance out of place, prices seems average now for Havasu, with many other similar places I would have to choose them over locos. read more

This is just another Mexican restaurant with average food - not even close to fine dining! We went around 2pm on Sunday and the place was pretty much empty - 3 of us seated in back of dining room along a wall while the better tables in dining room were empty - took about 10 minutes for waiter who took drink order - came back about 10 minutes later with drinks - asked if we could get chips and salsa - reluctantly said yes - when he brought it back we asked if they charged for second bowl and he said yes. We ordered and food was ok - service was spotty and they weren't busy. We didn't run into the hat rule but will be eating fine mexican dining somewhere else. LOL read more

We went to Locos for dinner and was blown away at the difference from the previous Mexican restaurant. They did an amazing remodel! Every detail was taken into consideration! From ambience to decor, even the bathroom was beautiful. Their cocktails were a piece of art and their food was amazing and you can tell a lot of love went into the dishes. I thought the prices were similar to most restaurants. My kids shared the Mexican platter with various items and it was enough to feed 3 to 4 kids easily. The Pazole was delicious and the meat was super tender. The customer service was exceptional. Overall, I was blown away at how beautiful the restaurant was and how every detail was taken into consideration. I recently made a reservation for four at MAS Locos over the weekend, looking forward to a nice lunch. Unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess, who seemed disinterested and unwelcoming. As we walked to our table, she abruptly turned and told me that I needed to remove my hat, which caught me off guard. When I asked why, she stated it was because "this is a fine dining establishment and if I wanted to, I could go sit in bar!" I was there with my wife and two smaller children...NO I don't want to sit in the bar! While I could see that the restaurant was nicely decorated, I was surprised to notice many other customers in casual attire--shorts, tank tops, and sandals. Given its location and the menu, I had previously viewed, I don't see how this Mexican restaurant can call itself a fine dining establishment. Definity nice but NOT fine dinning. Her attitude was completely rude and off-putting, so we decided to leave before being seated. It's worth mentioning that I was wearing a hat due to a significant brain injury I suffered in a car accident last year, which left a very large visible scar on my scalp. I didn't feel comfortable explaining this to her, especially given her tone. If I had been made aware of this policy when I made my reservation or when I viewed the place online, I could have been prepared to remove my cap or go elsewhere from the beginning. Maybe if the hostess was kinder in tone I would have explained my situation to her. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend MAS Locos and certainly won't be returning. A little kindness and understanding can go a long way in the hospitality industry. --- read more

My family and I visited the new location of this restaurant after being underwhelmed by the location on the north side of Havasu. We figured we'd give them a second chance--big mistake. We were there for a birthday dinner that included grandparents and children--not a rowdy group by any means. Yet we were seated in the back room, which felt like a loud, echoey box where you couldn't hold a conversation with anyone that wasn't sitting directly next to you. Some basic wall decor could've helped the acoustics, but clearly comfort wasn't a priority. Our waiter was very kind however it did take roughly 30 minutes to receive two cocktails. One was a margarita that came out frozen solid, like a snow cone. Then came the absurd part: the host and server asked two people in our group to remove their hats at the dinner table. They politely declined. Later, the owner or manager approached and told us that while we didn't have to remove them this time, hats wouldn't be allowed in the future because this was a "fine dining experience." This, coming from a man in sandals, in a room full of guests wearing shorts, tank tops, and flip-flops. It's Havasu. People come straight from the lake. This left us completely dumbfounded and confused. This place serves ground beef tacos and burritos and Just because you serve water in a glass pitcher, this doesn't make the restaurant fine dining. After being confronted about it repeatedly, we decided to cancel our dinner order and asked to just pay for our drinks, but the manager insisted on comping the tab (even though we offered to pay several times). The situation got even more uncomfortable when he followed us out to the parking lot, in his sandals, still arguing about the hat policy and his "standards" and why he shouldn't have to lower them for us. Overall, this was not the dining experience we were looking for. The inconsistency of their dress code and the way it was enforced made the visit awkward and unwelcoming. Went for lunch with husband and another couple over the weekend. The service was extremely slow, my husband's order was incorrect twice & my enchiladas came out still cold in the middle. My drink was tasty but took 30 mins to get. The table next to us experienced very slow service as well and told us that they got asked to remove their hats while in the restaurant. I thought this was a very unusual request for this kid of restaurant. Overall I felt the place was super loud, the service was mediocre and the food was not good.
