Came here based on my cousin's recommendation. One of the best grocery stores I have been too. It is a big store compared to other Indian/halal stores. The store has a great selection of packaged food items. The store also has a fresh food section which is again much bigger than other stores. They also have a really good restaurant. We love coming in and ordering food from here. We come by here once week! The service is great and the owner is very friendly and helpful! Such a great find! This is the cleanest grocery store I have ever been to. Fresh produce, great selection of items and fantastic customer service! Has passed by on Red Branch road whenever our son had drum lessons across from this market but never stopped by. Recently, we befriended an Afghan family who recently settled in Maryland and took them here to get some groceries. So thankful for the kind and generous owners! Husband and wife team who are super nice and very very helpful! The family bought two carts full of what they enjoy & I came out with some free sweet samples and few snacks I wanted to try. Shoutout to owners, Mr and Mrs Shah. They are so precious! Polite, genuine, and attentive. It was the weekend when we visited. We asked if we could eat-in. Of course we could was just what I wanted to hear. So not only is there a weekend buffet next to the front register where you can order by the pound, there's an ordering counter that has the full menu. My eyes started my appetite by just reading all the choices! We ordered some of our classic favorites and a few new ones. Since I am not sure what the names are, I just asked Mrs Shah for something with a spicy coconut sauce. She gave me some creamy coconut chicken dish with what appeared to be whole peppers and maybe curry leaves... yumm! We ordered 2 types of naan too. We walked around the store and looked around at all the goodies. Fresh meat, vegetables, fruits, staples, and snacks. I saw some British snacks, boxes of mixes, nuts, spices, teas, and even housewares. We bought some awesome finds. I had to use some restraint and not buy too much. I'll try more next visit :) And now my lunch is ready! It's like going to Cracker Barrel, but less clothing and toys read more

This place is a hidden gem. We brought some members of our employee team at Bridgeway Community Church to Masala for an impromptu luncheon and we were treated like royalty. With very little notice, our group of 15 people was accommodated. We ate the most delicious variety of buffet food and even enjoyed a sweet dessert. Afterward, several of us were able to do some convenient grocery shopping. I found not only delicious Indian and Pakistani food but also some Latino items from my own culture! The staff was friendly and the owner and his wife were fantastic. This is a great place for lunch and grocery shopping, and it has a great room for events. I love how warm and inviting the place is, thanks to the owners. We recently had a Eid party organized at the location and it was incredible!!! Every detail was taken care of and Mona aunty did a fantastic job with the catering. Everyone loved the food and ambience. The space is perfect for a good size gathering complete with a mega screen and amazing audio system. Lovely sitting arrangements and of course amazing food. This is hands down one of my favorite halal grocery/convenience stores to shop at. I want to start by saying that I've shopped at this store since it's initial opening as "Dana Mandi," by the previous owners. While my family remained frequent shoppers of Dana Mandi, we found ourselves shifting between other local halal grocery stores in order to find items that weren't readily stocked at Dana Mandi. Once the store changed management, it's name changed to "Masala Bazaar." The store doubled in size and added a halal meat section. My family no longer has to jump from halal store to halal store since Masala Bazar now serves as a one-stop shop-all type of place. To top it all off, the owners are extremely welcoming and very friendly. On occasion, they'll throw in an extra samosa with my purchase, and who can ever complain about free food? There is one key point I'd like to highlight in this review. While I recognize that I've been shopping at this store for many years now, I wanted to share that I've never really found myself reviewing grocery stores on Yelp since I utilize this platform to review mainly restaurants and other attractions. The reason I'm writing this review today is because of the current situation that our community is facing with Coronavirus. I've been to Target, Safeway, Giant and plenty of other stores during this time and have noticed empty shelves and possible questionable cleaning methods. Masala Bazaar has not only managed to keep their store well stocked, but also extremely clean. I hope to see them keep up the amazing job and grow in the near future! read more

It is a well stocked store and friendly owner. I bought a frozen Ilisha fish. The best part was that they scaled it and cut it into steaks for me on a band saw. I have never had a store that would do this for me. It took me over 1 hour to get there but it was well worth it. I will be back. read more

Masala Bazaar is a hidden gem, tucked in a business park area, it is undoubtably the best grocery store around for quality, selection, and value. Everything I've tried from here is amazing, from the fresh fruits and vegetables to the very tasty marinated meats. Chicken kabab and chicken masala are my favorites so far. The owners are wonderful people, they are a couple who go great lengths to make their customers feel appreciated. Azad the owner gave me a mango that was so perfect he was going to take it home himself, but the customer always comes first he told me. What a precious treat! read more

I make it a point to be extra nice to the aunties/uncles that work at mom n' pop shops like this, but the staff is just plain rude! This has been my experience a few times here now. & Just today I called to ask if they sell pre-made samosas (desi shops often have them up by the counter) & how much they cost. Lady on the phone just says "I don't know" and rudely hangs up. um??? Its been a rough year i get it but this crusty shop needs to get it together! read more

The best desi store in Columbia and surrounding areas. It's run by a Bangladeshi couple, who are very friendly and go out of their way to assist you. The store is well-stocked and I have no complaints about the quality of their supplies, including all kinds of meat, which i've been buying from them for the past 10 months. They even take meat orders over the phone and never overcharge. Can't recommend this place enough. Undoubtedly this is the best grocery store in Columbia Maryland. The owners are super nice. The store is large has a lot of space and well lighted. My wife and I have tried numerous Indian grocery stores in the area, and found this one to be head and shoulders above the competition. The store was was very clean, produce was fresh, and the owner was very welcoming and courteous. They carry all of the standard dried staples, and although not exhaustive, the fresh produce section had everything we needed. The new owner has bought the space next door and expanded the store, so it is much more spacious than older pictures. It seems they will be able to serve hot food (snacks) once the renovations are done - we are looking forward to seeing what their options are. We will be back! read more

Not only is the produce fresh and delectable, the customer service at this store is incomparable to say the least. This store has come a long way in the past couple of months in addition to their massive expansion . It is absolutely fantastic to have a south asian store so conveniently located in the heart of Howard County at the same place in which I can shop for spices, fresh produce, and my favorite "chanachur". After shopping there a few times we noticed that the store has new management. A charming family who are so kind and always happy to help. When running any type of family-owned business it is always nice to be welcomed into a store even if you are just there to buy some basmati rice on your way home from work. This Indian and Bangladeshi grocery store is absolutely fantastic. Large, clean, friendly, organized. They carry a huge variety of products, and have an extensive freezer and cooler case of ready-made items as well. I was thrilled to find that they also had a large selection of imported and sometimes hard-to-find seafood. We bought Hilsa fish for the first time ever (we can never find it) and my husband was thrilled to bits when I brought it home. The butcher area was clean as a whistle and although I didn't buy any meat that day, I wouldn't hesitate to buy here when I come back. Fresh produce was clean and good quality. First off, the store is in an industrial area and pretty hard to find. The main sign is duct taped and printed on regular paper. I didn't check all prices but only items that seemed a little higher than other Indian stores were the prepared frozen foods.Vegetables were fresh, and store was very clean. Unlike any Indian grocery store I have ever been to in my life. The owners are kind, courteous, and always willing to help. The store is always filled with a variety of different vegetables, spices, and foods. But the best part is that it is always clean and the atmosphere is very welcoming.
