While going down Decatur Street in the French Market, we did a little souvenir shopping and had the Mask Factory bookmarked on our places to go. Although they sell souvenirs, this store primarily sells masks and they're sold at varied price points. Starting prices seem to go for about $16.00+ They have an amazing selection too. You'll find a vast selection of feather, blinged out, steampunk, Mardi Gras and Halloween masks. No matter what the season, they got you boo. Not far from the busy tourist areas and the French Market, I popped in for my NOLA memorabilia. I found some great magnets on sale and was able to ring up my purchase quickly. As for my friends, I had no idea that you could spend 25 minutes shopping for masks but they managed to do so. There's a massive selection here with different styles and colors and sizes. Definitely a place to go if you're looking for some good, cheap souvenirs. Masks, t shirts, magnets, hats, beads, shot glasses and more. They have a huge selection of masks, which are a staple souvenir from the quarter. We headed into this spot on day one of three vacation and picked up a few masks. Our friends saw a few things they liked but wanted to shop around. A few days later we headed back to grab the mask they saw originally. The staff was friendly both times we went. We bought from this location last time we came also. The prices are totally reasonable, merchandise diverse and masks are abundant in options. What is New Orleans without being able to purchase a Mardi Gras mask?! Here is a quick shoppers hint... You can find masks all over the French Quarter... if you are in the mood to not make a quick purchase, but shop around, I would highly encourage you to do so. We stopped into the mask factory on our way to breakfast, and while they have a nice assortment of masks, some of them are not in the greatest condition. Many of them are way overpriced, and again the quality is a little inferior to some of the other stores and flea market spots. They of course don't allow pictures to be taken, and Customer Service is mediocre at best. Like anything, feel free to stop in just to look around, but there are bargains to be had throughout the area. read more

My sister wanted to buy a mask from their shop when she was buying the mask of her choice the lady at the counter put the $50 under the register and punched in that my sister gave her a $20 and only gave us $3 back in change and was going to let us walk out if we didn't say anything. read more

One of the best souvenir shops that I visited in New Orleans! They displayed an amazing collection of masks for any occasion, and available in any color you can think of. There were definitely some really pricey masks, but there were also masks that were on sale for $3-4 each. Quite a good deal! I was very impressed by their extensive collection of watchover dolls (voodoo dolls with cute, positive messages). Their collection of dolls were more comprehensive than those sold by many comparable souvenir shops in the area. There should be a doll specific for everyone within that store! I was pleased to see that they accepted credit card, unlike many of the businesses in New Orleans. I'm an African American female and I felt like I was being followed in the store but hoping I was overreacting but then when I went to pay for my items I asked if they had anything to wrap my mask in and the owner was like no just plastic bags then I was like I don't think I like that there's nothing to wrap them in because I'm traveling the owner showed me the door. Earlier in the day I'd commented that I'd like to get a Mardi Gras mask, and then we just happened to pass by the Mask Factory on the way back to the hotel. This is definitely the place to go for masks. There are walls and walls of masks in all shapes, colors and price points... The options are almost overwhelming. It was a lot of fun trying on the different masks, but in my search for the perfect mask I almost found myself thinking it would be reasonable to spend $20+ on something I'd probably never use again after the weekend. This is a good place to find cheap to moderately priced masks, ranging from the very simple to the fairly intricate. You will have a hard time if you are trying to to make a decision on only one mask in this store because their selection is so vast. Their prices are the best to be found in New Orleans also. The salesman welcomed me with a warm hello and smile when I entered and escorted me around the store . Many of the masks are too high up to reach and he would have to be alerted if you saw one that you liked anyhow so there was no problem for me that he walked with me. When I left he walked me to the door. I took that as a good thing too for I always walk my house guests to the door when they visit my home and are leaving. Amazing selection of masks and New Orleans souvenir's. They also had the best prices from all the places we visited. We were in town for a week and window shopped the first couple of days, but we finally decided to do our souvenir shopping here. You'll definitely get your money's worth. I have now been to Mask Factory twice. EACH time there was a item for $19.99 charged to my bill that I did NOT purchase. It was the same shtick each time with, "Oh, that was for another customer." It seems to be a well rehearsed line between the older and younger man working the counter there. They have a boxed item sitting on the counter that they ring up with my items. Strangely, they put that boxed item away, and NOT in the bag with my purchases, although they say they mistakenly included that item in my purchase. Each time I purchased several masks, at least 4 items, so maybe they figure throwing in another item won't faze me. They then have to go through the elaborate routine of refunding my purchase, however they don't seem to be able to just delete my order and refund it, rather they only refund the item I did not actually purchase. They pretend they don't know how refund the entire order. I THINK THESE GUYS ARE SCAMMERS. read more
