I've visited this location several times before and have always had a good experience, which is why this visit was so disappointing. I ordered a milkshake, and when I received it, it was basically chocolate milk...very thin and lacking the thick, creamy consistency you'd expect from a milkshake. To make matters worse, I had to have it remade because the wrong ice cream was used the first time. I also noticed that the employee preparing my milkshake wasn't wearing gloves either time it was made, which was concerning from a food-handling standpoint. The service overall wasn't very friendly or attentive, and it just wasn't the level of service I've come to expect from this location. The one positive thing I can say is that the restaurant itself was very clean and well-maintained. I've come here multiple times and have never had an experience this bad before. This is a cool little place that serves great ice cream in Union Grove near the I-77 interchange. The ice cream selection is great, they will mix flavors for you too. The service is friendly and efficient, and the shop offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The seating indoors is limited, but there's several picnic tables outside. Our family visited Mason's Sweet Shoppe at about 12:30 pm last Saturday & there was only one other small family inside. We had been wanting to visit for a while as other mason jar ice cream joints are usually at the beach or in large cities. Mason's has a bright and clean small interior with maybe four tables. There was no outdoor seating. The chairs they had were metal chairs that are not the friendliest for plus size people as they can be narrow and tight on the sides, but these were not as bad as most. Also, there was no physical menu that showed pictures of each of the mason jar sundaes, just the descriptions. They did have television screens showing pictures of each sundae, but you had to wait for each picture to pop up throughout the slideshow. The pricing for the mason jar sundaes is $10 each and the price does include the mason jar to take home. Compared to the prices at similar shops in larger cities and beaches, those tend to run $15 or more. We got the Razzle Dazzle, Cookie Monster, a scoop of Oreo ice cream & a scoop of coconut fudge ice cream. The scoops of ice cream were both flavorful, creamy & full of mix-ins. The Razzle Dazzle is raspberry chocolate ice cream with a slice of cheesecake on top. Cheesecake is one of our favorite desserts and this slice was absolutely amazing! The Cookie Monster was topped with two cookies that were just okay. The cookies were cakey and chewy. Both mason jar sundaes came in Styrofoam bowls so it would not drip on the table. We were not able to finish both sundaes even being shared between multiple people! They also give you plastic bags to take the jars home in. read more

Not sure how long it has been open but relatively new in Union Grove but it's definitely a keeper. Thought I knew most places in Union Grove/Harmony but when one of my coworkers showed up to work in a Mason's tee shirt and I asked where it was at, I was shocked when she said Union Grove. Since then I've been through Union Grove twice and tried to find it each time but was unsuccessful till today. When to Shiloh General Store with a local and asked if they knew where it was and they told me it was next to Ace Hardware. Actually it's on the side of the building Ace Hardware is in. After Shiloh, we stopped on the way back and got in line. They take Covid Social Distancing very seriously which I appreciate. They let whole families in to order but once you order, one person can stay and everyone else has to step outside where you can sit at one of the tables. When your order is ready, they will help you take your order outside for everyone to enjoy. I'm amazed. I saw Banana Splits that were amazing. Big list of Shakes which I will have to come back to try. My friend and I both ordered Pralines Pecan Ice Cream in Waffle Cones. She was smart and only order one scoop but I ordered two. The amount of Ice Cream in a Single Scoop is more than generous so you can imagine what two was like. Very difficult to eat while it was melting in your hands. Currently they have a Chocolate Coma, Nut Job, a peanut butter one and a few more. In the summer expect to see Cotton Candy, Unicorn and more. You get to keep the Mason Jar. All for just $8. If you'd like to save money you can get it in a bowl for $6. They have limited inside seating and picnic tables outside. We walked up to their food truck because their ice cream looked amazing. The people in front of us were a mom and her little boy. They ordered ice cream cones, and when the person making the ice cream handed the boy his, she told him that it broke, so she put it in a bowl. The mom said he really loves cones, could she please re-make it? And the worker said she would have to charge since making a new cone would use more of their ice cream. She then said that she didn't break it, it just broke in her hand. I didn't understand why she didn't just remake the $4 cone for free for the kid since she clearly broke it, and we opted not to get ice cream at their truck. It is a great little place. You need to get there early on weekends they sell out of milkshakes. I had my mind set on the strawberry tall cake but once I saw the morning joe I had to order that one too! I was happy I did it was my favorite of the 2 and the best of all the ones I tried my family had ordered. Went on a Sunday and the place was lined all around the building. It took an hour 45 mins to get in and order. But it is a nice treat to take kids out for and the little one said the candy explosion was really good with the cotton candy on top. read more

I finally made it here and, boy oh boy, was it worth it! The shop is really cute and CLEAN!! There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff is very friendly. It was busy and they did a great job of moving the line quickly. The menus are on the wall, so it's easy to see what they have to offer. I had the Cookie Monster shake, and it was amazing. We arrived about an hour before they closed and when we attempted to order a shake the gentleman informed us he had already cleaned up for the night and we couldn't order a milkshake, only ice cream.
