I have attended a few concerts here and parties too. Beautiful venue. Well organized and friendly staff. Excellent acoustics. This is the world's largest Masonic Temple! Check it out!

Enjoyed a night of fantastic music from the upper balcony. Nearly everything about the night was amazing. The view from the upper balcony is great (unless you want to be able to see the features on the face of whoever you're seeing--then don't sit here). We were here for the Xcision Nexus tour, and the show is about the music, light display, and videos, so sitting far away wasn't a big deal. The sound is incredible, albeit deafening for a show like this (even my earplugs didn't soften it enough so I left with some extra ringing in my ears), so you can't go wrong in picking a seat as far as sound goes. I was exceedingly impressed with security who ran things with professionalism and integrity from before the show started (organizing and getting people through a line that stretched around corners and down sidewalks on three different streets!) until everyone left for the night. They kept the aisles clear throughout the night so we rarely had anyone standing in front of us while we sat in the front row of the upper balcony. They dealt quickly and professionally with people who were, let's say, not in their right frame of mind and needed an escort or two. Impressive security who did their jobs with tact and care. As far as the downside to the evening? The seats in the upper balcony (at least the two we sat on and the ones next to us) are the most uncomfortable seats I've ever had the displeasure of sitting on in, quite possibly, my entire life. They're broken, with springs sticking up in unpleasant places, and as a result, they're lumpy and do not allow for any resemblance of comfort, let alone good posture, whatsoever. My husband and I both have backaches today, as I knew we would. There is no excuse for not replacing these seats pronto. The only other negative is that it took me almost a half hour to use the bathroom because there are only two stalls for women on the balcony floor. I missed a nice chunk of the main act, but on the bright side, my ears are probably ringing a little less from that intermission. :) But as you can likely tell, it was a great night, and the Masonic is a great place to attend a concert.

I've lived in the metro Detroit area all my life and I only recently went to Masonic Temple for a show! I came here and went downstairs to the basement Crystal Ballroom for one of the Fever/Secret Detroit candelight concerts where they performed a ton of Adele's best hits. Because it was dimly lit by candles only and in the basement, I didn't get to see a ton of the rest of Masonic Temple, but of what I did see, it was so cute! This place feels very historic, it's well organized, and the vibes were really vibing! I'm definitely interested in coming here again for another show or concert and eagerly look forward to checking it out more when I do!

I saw Lorde here and the show was great but I hated this venue. I traveled here from Pittsburgh specifically for this show. First, parking's a nightmare and it was the same night as a wings game. The lots across from the venue were pre-sold passes only and you couldn't pay to park there the day of. Other nearby lots were only for hockey. All the other lots around had a listed price on a sign and then the guy taking your money would tack on an additional $15-25 for himself! Absolutely ridiculous! I ended up parking about five blocks away. There's one single file line that wraps around the building. I get that the pit was GA but it was just stupid with the line. Typical overpriced concert drinks but the bartender was nice. The girls doing security were also nice. This venue gets SO INSANELY HOT. I've never been to an indoor concert that was this warm ever in my 10 years of going to concerts. There were too many people in the pit for the size of area. They didn't give you wrist bands or anything for the pit and I think other people were sneaking into the area from their seats. This place is also old and the floor feels like it's going to fall through. Be prepared for LONGGG bathroom lines. The only reason for giving two stars is because of the nice staff and the fact that they allowed confetti.

Went to see Brit Floyd. Beautiful old venue. Waited in line outside for about 20 minutes nice weather outside no biggie. No problem with security coming in. Ushers were very helpful directing us to our seats. The seats were comfortable had enough leg room. The show itself was fantastic. The sound was great the light show was great all and all a good time.

I attended a concert here the other night and was quite impressed with this location. It's massive -- to put it lightly. This is just one concert room, but my friend told me she saw another concert in another space at this same location. I was impressed by the balcony seating. Great view when everyone is sitting. You do have to stand when the people in front of you do, but that's just expected. Still I could see pretty well for being so far up. The sound travels great in this area. I felt like I was in the front row with how good the acoustics are! The employees are also all very kind. One walked me and my friend over to the balcony seating, and they were all very polite in answering basic questions. My only notes is they only opened one bathroom for such a big event space, and it was a little hot in there. But it was a great place!

I had never been to masonic temple until the past 10 years. This place is rich with history. We have been here on several occasions now. This was definitely a unique opportunity, however. First, the Building is located is sparse. There is not a ton to do around there. But I do foresee huge growth potential in the future. There is paid parking in the lot across the street but we were able to park on the street for free. This was a very intimate event. Less than 100 people. It was a romantic candlelit string quartet. We both have a love of string instruments so this was something that seemed perfect for us. It was flawless and beautiful. Extremely intimate. Seats were spread out around the crystal ballroom. Masks were required. The concert was about an hour and a half which was perfect. We enjoyed this very much and would definitely recommend it.

    Love the artwork!

I've been to the Masonic Temple a few times, but it's been a long while, so I was pleasantly pleased to see it's still a great venue! We were there this week to see Death Cab for Cutie and it was a great show--fantastic acoustics and the lighting that went along w the music was great. The bathrooms were clean, and I was surprised how fast we got our drinks--the staff were hustling. The inside of the Masonic is beautiful, they've done a great job maintaining it over the years. Overall, we had a fantastic concert experience and we'll definitely go back for another show!

Talk about squeeze you in. this is what "front row seats gets you"

    Are there ladies restrooms upstairs?

Yes. A very small 6 stall one though.

I'm curious about seating? Wanting to bring my grand daughter 11 yrs old for concert. Is there a bad seat for her to clearly see stage?

No, but I do recommend seating in the balcony.

It varies depending on the artist renting the venus

How is this place for concerts?

There's are a couple concert halls here. Both have great acoustics. The history and architecture alone are worth the ticket cost.

There is a small parking lot at the Jam Handy, but we weren't really sure if we could park there, even for the rehearsal the day before the wedding. The space is historic and you can read about it online, but it served as a sound stage for the Jam Handy Organization, which specialized in industrial films and filmstrips for General Motors and the United States Armed Forces. The venue itself is a bit rustic and industrial, and serves as a blank canvas for whatever vision you have for your event. In this case, it was a wedding with lots of beautiful flowers and floral arrangements and green plants everywhere. The bar when you entered was a great touch, and guests were able to have a glass of wine before moving to the ceremony room, which had a floral backdrop. This space was turned into the late night dance party area as well. There isn't much around this venue, so don't plan on a lot of bar hopping nearby before your event. In fact, most of the bars didn't open until 5 pm on Friday, the day of the wedding. The only other downfall of the venue was having to go downstairs to use the restroom. There is one gender neutral restroom on the main floor but it was occupied 99% of the time I tried the door. Just something to note for people with mobility issues, high heels, etc. I also noticed some uneven areas in the floors. Overall I had a great time at this venue and was impressed with how it was transformed from the rehearsal time to the wedding itself! Sometimes I think spots like this are a little too much of a blank space for someone like me, who lacks creative vision to turn a place like this into something really beautiful. However, with the right team and vision, it can be exceptional!

This property is housed in the 1925 Metropolitan Building, a stunning Neo-Gothic "Jeweler's Building" that sat vacant for nearly 40 years. Seeing it restored to its former glory rather than being demolished is a win for the city.  The entrance lobby and the grand stairway to the second floor are phenomenal--the restoration team clearly put a lot of heart into preserving the marble and the ornate details. Because the hotel has to conform to the original historic footprint, the rooms are unique and oddly shaped. It was a refreshing change of pace to stay somewhere that broke out of the usual "cookie-cutter" hotel mold. My room featured a long internal hallway, a small kitchenette, and enough windows to provide a fantastic view of the Detroit skyline.  Check-in was seamless, and the staff were excellent throughout my stay. I initially considered subtracting a star because my room lacked a steamer, but the breakfast service won me back. The made-to-order omelets and the yogurt granola station were top-notch, and that high-quality start to the day made up for any minor room omissions. If you appreciate architecture with a history and a bit of character, this is definitely the place to stay in Detroit.
